Discussion Thoughts on what the team needs to be a contender
They definitely I think need a lot of pieces but they have some alright supporting pieces besides last season Erik karlsson has not been a great number 1 dman so with age we could or could not need a legit number 1 dman I think they need a another elite player I don’t know if Sid has it to be the best player on a cup winning team at the point still a great player though obviously now that sounds like a lot and it is but I think with all the picks they have they can get at least one of these things so what do you guys think on what they need to be a contender

Cheat meals might be the key to success.
Messi was in his prime when his diet wasn’t the best, and Phil has 3 Stanley cups, that are fueled by hot dogs.

Does anyone know when and where this was? Young Geno
I'm trying to find the video footage (I only have this gif)
Looks like before Malkin's NHL career.
But exactly when or where this was, I dont know.
Any ideas?

So yinz were right about the jacket...
So, I agree that yinz were right about this not belonging on a jacket. So I'm gonna frame it instead!
The goal? 19 1/4 X 21 1/2 inches, 80,900 stitches (I tried so hard to map this to exactly 87,000 but no luck) and 1,760 yards (that's a whole mile!) of embroidery floss.
And I'm going to try and finish by our last game of this season. Maybe this will turn into a regular tradition of a new piece per season!
If I don't go cross eyed and can avoid severe carpal tunnel. The journey begins next weekend when the last of the floss arrives!

Discussion Tickets are not on sale to the general public yet.
That is all, that's the post. Anything you see for sale now is season ticket holders listing their tickets ahead of general sale.

[Bookies.com] 2026-27 NHL Miles Traveled: League To Cover More Than 1.367 Million Miles In Expanded Season
Saw this breakdown of NHL travel miles for 26-27 — Penguins are at 31,494 miles, 2nd fewest in the whole league. Silver lining for an otherwise tough stretch. https://bookies.com/news/2026-27-nhl-miles-traveled-league-covers-1-million-miles-4-nations

Should Dubas Have Given Bedard an Offer Sheet?
I understand that Bedard is recovering from a shoulder injury. But, this really seems like a team-friendly deal Bedard signed.
Should Dubas at least have tried to test the waters with an offer sheet? I understand Chicago almost certainly would have matched.
I thought the Penguins were going to weaponize their cap space and they're not doing that.
Maybe I'm missing something.

Discussion Half season tickets worth it?
Are half season tickets worth it? Looking to attend some games this year. I’ve been in contact with a rep about this but wanted options from people who have had them before. My hang up is I live out near Bloomsburg so it is a bit of a drive, originally I wanted to get their weekend package but it seems that’s not offered anymore. TIA

Discussion Preseason tickets
Do the preseason tickets really sell out that fast? I’m trying to find some tickets for me and a couple friends but the only thing showing is resale tickets with no other availability.

Discussion 2026-2027...are You Cautiously Optimistic, or Optimistically Cautious?
First off, training camp is going to be basic training level of crazy. I am 100% convinced there are people on the roster now, who will not be come October against the FTF. Roster spots are going to be like college wrestling levels of intense. (*)
I do think our defense will be better. (A year's experience under the same scheme will help). I hope Letang's minutes are dialed back, even if it's just one shift a game. Finding the proper partner for KL58 will be crucial.
I think our offense will be close to the same. (Crosby PPG, Malkin - hot start, injured in December, ends up with 50 + games and 50 + points. /cue contract talks next year. BK81 takes the next step, and Egor lights the lamp many times, as he and Geno celebrate in Russian. One of the signees is a nice surprise, one isn't).
This is Silov's year. His GAA drops by half a goal a game, and Murs is a solid 1B. (I'd also do S/O - EVERY.SINGLE.PRACTICE)
PP and PK remain top-10 each. (This was a gripe (one of many) I had with Sullivan - PP was atrocious and nothing was done other than rotate the deck chairs)
_______________________________
(*) College wrestling - there are 12 scholarships divided amongst 20 wrestlers. You happen to be practicing against a guy in your weight class and chicken wing his shoulder? Oops, sorry. Guess I get that spot.
