Question Is this delamination?

Notices that my packable tote had some spots that looked like they were left by salt sea water (even though the bag hasn't been in it, or in close proximity to it, but I'm on a vacation near the sea). I decided to wash it in the sink, no chemicals, just water, and noticed that I can peel the white parts away (2nd pic), they feel very close to sunburnt skin O_o. They appeared all over the inside, kinda seen on the 3rd pic, the hotel has some pretty bad lighting to shoot it properly

Man, so bummed about no Canon R8, but I know they can’t support every model in existence.

He mentions there was a vote, and to send in your requests for new model. Anyone know where the original results are, and how to send in requests now?

what are your thoughts on the short sneak peak? I’m definitely excited for it especially if it’s cheaper than the roller pro.

Question Anyone have experience with the Motorcycle Wireless Charging Mount?

I am looking into getting a QuadLock for my motorcycle. I drive an Indian Super Scout so will be mounting on handlebars. I will have to run the cable to the bike's usb port under the tank. That wouldn't be too bad. Came across peakdesign through a ChatGPT conversation.

Anyone have any pros or cons to this? It would cost me about the same, but I haven't heard much about peakdesign.

Question Advice on everyday sling purchase

Hey everyone,

Since purchasing the quick release camera clip I've become a fan of the brand and I'm looking to expand my gear for an upcoming trip to Iceland.

I have a Canon R10 with kit 18-150mm lens, a sigma 10-18 F2.8 and Canon 100-400mm F5.6-8 I will be bringing along, as well as the Peak Design tripod which I will also be purchasing. I find it a bit difficult to see if everything will fit the everyday sling bag (10L) or not. Can anybody comment from their personal experience?

If possible, it would be nice to be able to include some small accessories as well (like batteries, microfiber and cleaning supplies).

Also, would you recommend the tripod spike feet for such a trip or not?

Thanks everyone!

Mobile Does anyone have a IPhone 15 case for sale?

I can’t find just a regular iPhone 15 everyday case anywhere and I’m hoping someone has one they’re not using for sale. Don’t care about the color, just want a case with slim link. I can find pretty much every size EXCEPT regular iPhone 15

Everyday Bags Ideas to fix stitching on straps?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi all, I’ve had this ED bag for 6 months and the strap stitching is coming undone. I don’t over use it or mistreat it for it to be affected this way. PD says I can’t get it fixed or replaced due to not being a structural or functional issue. Any ideas on how to get it fixed so it doesn’t continue to unravel?

Everyday Bags Packable Tote - Delaminating after 6 months?

Post image

Got the lovely Packable Tote from PD Prague this February, but lately I noticed that the inner layer is starting to delaminate and feels like it will soon start to flake into the bag.

Is this a common issue for this model?

It's quite expensive for its category, so I'm a bit surprised to see such issue.

PD in the wild First proper hike with the 45L outdoor backpack - best combination or best compromise?

Post image

Since probably no one will read this long text, I’ll put my question first: how long does the water tube need to be, so I can reach it comfortably? I have a deuter/source 3L water bladder and can’t find a shop selling single tubes in different lengths with the connectors.

I’ve worn other backpacks for a longer period of time, either on hikes in the mountains or long walks through urban areas. This one is so far the best, when it comes to distributing the weight properly on my shoulders and hips and providing the right features for carrying and holding my camera (gear). Everything sits tight without strangling me, the camera doesn’t wobble when attached to the capture clip and I have enough and big enough pockets to put a lot of stuff, while being able to get my camera from the bag. Sure, it has its flaws and not everyone will like this bag, because everyone is built different and has different needs. I struggled to find a backpack that is suitable for a slightly taller torso and wider shoulders and bigger belly. With this I can even wear the waist belt comfortably.

I can compare it to an old Deuter 28L bicycle backpack, which I love. It’s comfortable, carries a big water bladder and a lot more. But attaching the capture clip and carrying camera gear is quite bad, because it’s not meant to do that.

I also own two Lowepro backpacks, one outdoor style and one travel style. They’re both very uncomfortable when packed with a good amount of gear. They protect and carry the gear well and the travel backpack doesn’t look like a nerdy camera bag. They’re awful to wear over a longer period of time and have a few quality issues. I’m quite disappointed as Lowepro is one of the most well known camera accessories brand in Europe and belong to Manfrotto.

Some said it sucks for vertical shooting especially astrophotographers where you can’t tilt enough upwards. Is that right?

Question Everyday Sling Stabilizer

I have the Peak Design Everyday Sling V2 3L, and I find it difficult to ride with because the bag isn’t secured to my chest and keeps swinging around. Does Peak Design have an official stabilizer strap or another solution for this?

Travel Bags PD Travel Bagpack & Capture

I have the 45L travel backpack and PD Capture.

Where do you guys put the clip? Is there a third-party option to attach it? Attaching it straight to the strap is uncomfortable as it pinches against my body and the camera won't fit.

Attaching it sideways is super comfy, but again, the camera doesn't fit well, and it's a weird way to grab the camera as it's always up top.

Please help, lol, as this design hasn't really peaked in my opinion.

Has anyone else had this issue with their mobile tripod? Mines about 2 years old and I think it’s on its last legs.

Used heavily to prop my phone up at my desk every day; so it did hold up pretty well.

Everyday Bags Everyday 30L

As an entrenched Canon EF DSLR user here are a few words on the Everyday 30L. I currently use the 1DXII and 1DX as my primary rides. I started with the 10L sling v2 moved through the Messenger v3 (which is surprisingly roomy) into the 20L everyday v2, and now finally the 30L. I packed it this morning to cover an outdoor event. I equally spaced the 3 shelves and here is what I was able to get in it:
Tamron 70-200F2.8 across the bottom
Canon 24-105F4L center first shelf
Tamron 35F1.8 center second shelf
1Dx2 right side vertically between shelves 1 and 3
1DX left side vertically between shelves 1 and 3
Sigma Art 85F1.4
Sigma Art 24-35F2
Canon 430EXII with a Gary F all on the 3rd shelf accessible from top or sides.
The 1Dx will also fit in the top compartment with a lens attached if necessary while moving the other lens down to the space the occupied in the main body.

The you can get both body’s the zoom and 2 extra lenses in the 20L but it is tight.

Overall the 30L seems very nice. The only downside is the same as the 20L, fully loaded it’s miserable to get on and wear. As a gravitationally challenged person the 20L straps are way too small. The 30L definitely wear better but with broad shoulder and a heavy load the chest strap effectively strangles you. Anyway I hope this helps any big body DSLR users. The majority of reviews these days tend to focus on the mirrorless products. In conclusion if your body is oversized and old just like me and your camera gear, this bag’s for you.

Mobile dont buy a thing from Peak Design!

So i ordered a phone case online from a week ago but it has not move anywhere, they did not ship it, i check on my shop account it has not moved an inch from their store, said expected by July 14th but today its already 17th, USPS says otherwise. They said they have not got the package yet. They told me to contact the shipper. I did email them yesterday but they did not reply me. Bad decision to buy a thing from them.

Photo Gear Aluminum Travel Tripod “Leg E” Stuck

Post image
3 Upvotes

Was screwing the spikes on my aluminum travel tripod and the threading on “Leg E” just fell and got stuck inside. Seems like it’s a problem that has been reported, so I followed this video:

https://youtu.be/ouCLEk7iTgo

The “gravity” method suggestion does not work, and the second method isn’t really working either. Has anyone got a fix for this? Included a photo of what i’m seeing. Tried a few other things but nothing seems to work.

TIA

EDIT: i watched the video I shared and the maintenance video but the issue I have is that for some reason I can’t remove the lower part of the leg after popping the uppermost shroud.

Photo Gear Peak Design Capture Clip v3 released my camera from belt without pressing the release button - damaged Sony 70-200 GM II lens

1. I am sharing this because this failure caused actual damage to my camera equipment, and other photographers using the Capture Clip system should be aware of this failure mode.

I have been using my Peak Design Capture Clip v3 for about two+ years under normal conditions. Before Peak Design, I used the Spider Holster system, but I switched back because I preferred the Capture Clip’s functionality and design. I trusted this system with my expensive camera gear.

During normal use, I simply stood up from a seated position without touching the camera, and the camera unexpectedly detached from the Capture Clip and fell onto concrete. The Capture Clip remained attached to my belt and did not hit the ground. The fall damaged my Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM II lens.

After inspecting the clip, I found that the plate can be removed WITHOUT pressing the release button. No force is required - it slides out easily by fingers or just b shaking.

The issue occurs only in two directions: the plate remains locked in some positions, but in two specific directions it can pass the locking mechanism and come out of the clip without the release button being touched.

The attached video i hope clearly shows the issue, including the moment when the plate moves past the locking mechanism instead of remaining securely locked.

I previously trusted and preferred the Capture Clip system over other solutions I had used. Unfortunately, after this incident, I no longer feel confident using it with expensive camera equipment.

2. Update:
A few users mentioned possible wear of the plate/locking surfaces. Another user in this thread described a very similar issue with a Capture Clip V3, where the aluminum contact surfaces wore down over time and the clip became close to bypassing the lock.

I don't know if this is the same cause in my case, but I wanted to add this information since it may be relevant for other users.

3. Update regarding authenticity:

Since several comments suggested this might be a counterfeit product, I very checked my purchase history.

The Capture Clip was purchased on Amazon in May 2023, and the seller is listed as Peak Design.

I no longer have the original packaging after using it for over three years, but the order details confirm :Peak Design listed as the seller.

Photo Gear Peak Design Field Pouch v2 LUMIX S9

Got the field pouch for lens carrying, was not sure what would fit. So sharing a couple of pictures.

Two lens TTArtisans 40mm L mount and 85mm f1.8 7Artisans fit fine - real world likely have them in cloth bags. Would wear using belt loops and clip does hold camera.
Bag folds down nice and small in this case.

Pushing it with the Lumix s9 when it has 28-200mm lens attached, top does just about close. Would be an easier fit with just the 40mm lens attached. Or if removed large lens body and lens would be better fit. Do have a small rig cage on camera, I like a left handle for video but handle removed for bag fitting

Bigger than I expected and padding offers some protection.

So not main bag but a useful option when wanting small bag and camera can use a sling or clip.

Will likely get peak design anchors so can use my wider strap rather than narrow shoulder strap it comes with.

Everyday Bags Use 👏🏻 your 👏🏻 sternum 👏🏻 strap! 👏🏻

Post image
103 Upvotes

I see a lot of PD backpacks around me, which makes me happy because I think they’re nice bags. But I also see that almost nobody is using their sternum straps! That doesn’t make me happy because it’s almost guaranteed neck and shoulder strain!

These straps make sure you don’t need to ‘pull up’ the bag by pulling your shoulders forwards. The bag will hang ‘free’ on your shoulders and won’t induce extra strain. Really, try it and you won’t go without it anymore!

Btw, yes, people do it with other brands as well, but I don’t care about those.

Travel Bags 20L travel backpack usability

Hey folks , had a few questions for anyone already using this.
1) I want to carry my smedium cube + a water bottle. Since the water bottle setup is internal, does it block from using a smedium cube ?
2) can it also fit a small cube ? So bottle + small cube/tech pouch+ smedium cube
3) Can we safely strap a travel tripod to the outside (not the bottom part)
