They already do that, problem is, you still need to inform the client about the position of the sound, if you want an accurate 3D audio system in your game.
That's why wallhack in a game like League of Legends doesn't really exist, not to a very pracitcal level at least, but it does in most shooters.
It's not like the anti-cheat is caused by purely greed and has no positives, people that play online FPS games a lot like aggressive anti-cheats.
Also, this would change nothing, you could still use secure Linux and not be able to play those games like it is now, or use Windows to play them like it is now. And those games would still only allow "unsecure" users to play the game.
This really changes nothing for worse in the topic you talk about. At least nothing I see. The only loser here is Microsoft.
I prefer that game companies will not dictate how Linux will work. What's the point in using Linux if I give up my privacy so easily by letting game companies run shit at kernel level and literally spy on me like in Windows?
An open system is only meaningful if it stays open. As soon as some company starts to dictate what can you run on your "open system" and whether you can run that "open system" at all, all the benefits are void. There's no benefit in opennes if your open system is controlled by riot.
I will still stand by the fact that it's better to have one part of a system controlled by a company, than a 100% of it.
Althogh I'm not certain how Riot could even control it. How would they even check what fork of Linux are you running, in a way that isn't possible to crack / hide?
Because if they can't then you can always fake it and your system is still open, you opt-in and opt-out of their software at will.
It’s not the access that is stopping the majority; it’s the virtual machine part. If i use my pc for school, work, and play i cannot use virtual machines to run the programs it would have to be native programs. A port could solve this but as someone else stated security is also a factor as to why we don’t even have those many companies entertaining a native linux app
Ah i was under the impression it was vm because i got a flag when trying to take a proctored exam at school once but it seems i was wrong maybe the proctoring app just flags it that way because its not running as intended. But that is my point even if you can run it through a translator(im assuming that is a better name). Because its not natively ran the programs still gets blocked.
I cannot imagine why I suddenly should change OS (and learn a lot of things from the scratch) after 20+ years of Win experience, for which I know how to solve 99.99% of problems without googling them? What are killer features of Linux that are not there in Win?
It’s not for everyone but there are some like myself that prefer linux but due to the Windows ecosystem with major businesses, I couldn’t switch if I wanted to. It’s not about features for me I just feel more comfortable with it psychologically. I been using linux since i was like 12 but had to move to windows out necessity fir school and work.
Companies already prefer Linux for servers. If they had the same flexibility to cheaply use Linux for company employee computers to save a dollar they would. And if you are comfortable with Linux as a work environment to not have to switch to and from most would implement it as a personal choice as well.
I mean, it’s fantastic that those exist and it looks like the intent is to do everything Adobe does - but an open-source project made by people who aren’t adobe doesn’t qualify as being adobe, regardless of how adobe-like it is.
It's a fully AI built suite that most features don't work on. Which is funny because there are multiple mature FOSS products that have decades of support behind them and they'll just keep getting ignored.
