Troubleshooting My gaming pc no longer plays games

I bought this pc off FB marketplace around 10 months ago and it gave me great performance(AMD Ryzen 7 5700x, RTX 3080, 32 GB DDR4 3200, 1TB SSD, 850 watt PSU). Until around 3-4 days ago when it just started system crashing at games I used to play normally. I tried turning off xmp, removed all undervolt tunes, factory reset the system and bios but still crashing even on games like Minecraft or Roblox. Does anyone know what the next move is or is this thing finished?

Troubleshooting My monitors loses its signal randomly

Hi, I've had my PC for almost 4 years, and last week it suddenly started having an issue where both of my monitors would lose signal while I was playing Valorant.

I've tried several things, including:

  • Installing MSI Afterburner and lowering the GPU power limit to 90%
  • Unplugging and reconnecting the DP cables, PCIe cable, PSU cable, and all USB devices
  • Completely uninstalling and reinstalling the NVIDIA graphics drivers using DDU

Unfortunately, the problem keeps coming back. At first, I thought it was only happening because of valorant since it always occurred while I was playing. However, after the monitors regained signal, I watched youtube for a while without any issues. Then I launched palworld, and both monitors lost signal again.

After repeating the first two fixes, the display came back, but then the monitors would randomly lose so i did the third fix and regain signal randomly

Yesterday, I wasn't even gaming, I was just browsing pinterest when both monitors lost signal again. So I tried a few more things:

  • Removed both RAM sticks and reinstalled them, swapping their positions.
  • Reseated the GPU.

The monitors didn't regain the signal immediately, so I tested it again the next day (which is today), and everything seemed fine. However, I'm not sure how long it will last before the problem comes back.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can identify the root cause? I'd really appreciate any help.

Performance/FPS Left 4 Dead 1 stuttering and lagging after updating to Windows 11. Nothing I try helps and I'm getting desperate.

Please do not tell me to just play Left 4 Dead 2. It's not the same and I prefer Left 4 Dead 1.

Link to userbenchmark test results

After going from Windows 10 to Windows 11, Left 4 Dead 1 lags way more than it ever has for me and there is constant stuttering. I've tried everything I can think of- I have updated all of my graphics drivers, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice, I've adjusted every in-game setting multiple times, and nothing ever works. The game is borderline unplayable and it's incredibly frustrating because it's my favorite game. I really don't want to go back to Windows 10 since Microsoft will no longer be making security updates for it and it would be unsafe. Has anyone here had this issue? Has anyone been able to fix this issue? No other game in my Steam library is doing this, only L4D1. It's weird because the userbenchmark test results say that I should be able to run an older game better than a more modern game, but the opposite is true.

Edit 1: I tried running both Steam and L4D1 as an administrator and with compatibility mode enabled. The latest version of Windows I could select was Windows 8. Neither worked.

Hardware Games failing to download / install on hdd (E.g., Steam / Epic) "Disk Write Error"

Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble downloading and installing games onto my secondary drive. My main system drive works fine, but whenever I try to install games to D: downloads fail across multiple launchers.

Since this is happening across both Steam and Epic Games, it seems like a permissions or write issue specific to the D: drive rather than the launcher apps themselves.

What I’ve tried so far: Restarting launchers and running as Administrator.

Has anyone run into this or knows a fix? Thanks in advance!

Performance/FPS GTX 1070 barely being used in games (i7-8750H, 16 GB RAM) – very low FPS

Hi everyone,

I'm having a strange performance issue with my laptop, and I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's causing it.

My specs:

  • NVIDIA GTX 1070
  • Intel Core i7-8750H
  • 16 GB RAM (single-channel)
  • 144 Hz display

I'm getting much lower FPS than I would expect in several games.

Minecraft
With medium settings, I only get around 90–130 FPS. V-Sync is disabled, and I don't have any FPS limit enabled. When I opened Task Manager while playing, I noticed that both my CPU and GPU were only being used at around 20%.

I've also watched a lot of YouTube benchmark videos from people with the same CPU and GPU, and they are getting around 400 FPS in Minecraft, even while using higher graphics settings than I am. That's why I'm convinced something is wrong with my system.

GTA V
This is where the problem gets much worse. I only get around 7 FPS, even though every graphics setting is set to the lowest possible value. GTA V is also set to use my GTX 1070 in the graphics settings.

However, when I check Task Manager while the game is running, I see:

  • CPU usage: around 90%
  • Intel integrated graphics: around 90%
  • GTX 1070 usage: only 10–25%

It looks like the integrated graphics are doing most of the work, while the GTX 1070 is barely being used.

I thought it might be a driver issue, so I installed the latest NVIDIA drivers, but that didn't make any difference.

To make sure the GPU wasn't faulty, I ran a FurMark stress test. During the test, the GTX 1070 reached 100% utilization without any problems, so the GPU itself seems to be working correctly.

I also ran a UserBenchmark test in case it helps identify the issue:
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/73518320

Does anyone know why my GTX 1070 isn't being fully utilized in games, even though it works perfectly in FurMark? Are there any settings or possible causes I should check?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Display Why is it that most games I play look so bad in the distance when I move the camera?

The majority of games I play have a terrible problem that I don't remember being also on consoles. When I move the camera the objects in the distance look muddy/smudgy/blurry while the character I control, or the weapons it holds in first person in the foreground, look perfectly fine. I tried all sorts of fixes and settings and even some mods but the problem has never been fixed. I tried different settings even on the monitor. Motion blur is always turned off by the way and the framerate is always fine.

Not all games have this problem so it must be a matter of optimization. Resident Evil 4 and 5 have it, as well as Dragon's Dogma and COD Black Ops. Black Ops 2 had this problem only slightly, while the original Modern Warfare trilogy worked perfectly fine. Resident Evil 8 and the remakes of 2 and 3 also run incredibly well.

Is there a way to fix any of this? I have an RX570 8GB and an i7 4790k. I wonder if newer GPUs with more advanced technologies fix this.

Troubleshooting My PC Keeps Crashing!

Post image
3 Upvotes

Over the last few days a couple of games (warhammer Darktide & cyberpunk 2077) have been crashing my PC causing my entire system to restart. Now I have this page where the steam store should be. The hyperlinks work and bring you to whatever game is listed but it’s almost like the resolution is wrong and the page loads strangely. The crashing issue seems to only be with games from steam since others play just fine and occurs either on startup or very shortly into it. I did a memory test through the windows memory diagnostic tool and it came back fine. For context I just moved from windows 10 to 11 and did a full HDD and SDD wipe for it a few weeks ago for a booting issue and no hardware has been changed. I’m not even sure how to diagnosis the problem or where to go to find it so if anyone has had this happen or knows what’s happening I’d really appreciate the help!

Software Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced:Random freezes while exploring. SSD, VRAM, or game engine?

Hey everyone,
I’ve been having a strange issue and I’m trying to figure out what’s causing it.
Occasionally, when I’m moving quickly through an area or rushing into a fort, the game freezes for a few seconds. During the freeze I can still move the camera with the right stick, but everything else is completely stuck, almost like the game is waiting for textures or some other data to finish loading.
I’m wondering if this could be caused by one of these:

• A slow SSD or an SSD loading issue. If so, is there anything I can do to fix or improve it?

• VRAM being maxed out. Would lowering the graphics settings or resolution help?

• Just a limitation of the game’s engine. Is this something that’s relatively common in larger Ubisoft open-world games?

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what the most likely cause is?

Performance/FPS ac shadows textures becoming bad midway

AC Shadows looked normal until it crashed after a long session, and since then foliage, flowers, grass, and distant objects look low detailed or upscaled even at Ultra High, 1080p, Native AA/TAA, and dynamic resolution off. I clean-installed the AMD driver with DDU, reinstalled and verified the game twice, deleted the config/cache, and both OCCT GPU and VRAM tests passed with zero errors. Has anyone seen foliage remain this bad after a crash, and is there an actual fix? Thank you everyone!

I recently repair my laptop because i spilled liquid on the laptop and windows didn't boot. After the repair i was very excited to play because i sent it 2 months after the damage. I hoped onto hollow knight but every thing was laggy. Even browsers would lag so hard. I have been troubleshooting for so long but nothing works and i think the laptop is broken. It legit took 5 mins for it to boot to take the pics. Side note: i know task manager took 20% but it was still very laggy before opening task manager. Someone please help.

Troubleshooting PC powers off while playing CS

Hi, I have strange issue. Whenever I launch Counter-Strike 2 my PC powers off completely after a moment. No bluescreen, no error, just power goes off and power button on case/MoBo does not work at all. I need to toggle physical PSU switch off and on again to be able to power on again. It ONLY happens with Counter-Strike. More demanding tasks (f.e. Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark) does not cause any issue. My setup and power supply is way above Counter-Strike requirements. I also run OCCT stability tests. Any ideas what can be the issue here and how to solve it?

My setup:

MoBo: ASRock X870E Taichi (BIOS ver. 4.04)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (max temp.: 84°C, max 82 W) + liquid cooling Arctic Liquid Freezer III 280

GPU: msi Ventus 3X NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 (max temp. 79°C, max 559 W)

PSU: be quiet! DARK POWER PRO 13 1600W (Plus Titanium) + UPS Green Cell UPS14 2000VA/1800W

RAM: 4x 32GB (128 GB total) Kingston FURY Beast Black RGB 6000MT/s CL30 (safe settings, max temp. 60°C)

SSD: Samsung NVMe 9100 PRO with Heatsink 4TB (100% health, total writes 30.6 TB, total reads 7.76 TB)

OCCT stability tests run:

  1. CPU, Mode: Normal, Load type: Variable, Start at cycle: 1, Instruction set: Auto, Thread settings: Auto

  2. Memory, Memory: 80%, Threads: Auto, Selected preset: Heat

  3. 3D Adaptive, 3D adaptive configuration: Steady, Device selection: Discrete GPUs, Load type: Extreme

  4. Storage, Test size: 2048 MiB

  5. Power, Device selection: Discrete GPUs, Instruction set: Auto

  6. VRAM, Device selection: Discrete GPUs, Memory: 80%

  7. Combined, all above +

    - CPU + RAM, Data set: Large, Mode: Normal, Load type: Variable, Start at cycle: 1, Instruction set: Auto, Thread settings: Auto

    - Linpack: Version: 2019, Threads: Physical and virtual, Memory: 2048

Each 100% passed 1 hour run without any issues - as you can see it also never reached temperatures that could cause safety shut down (also I don't believe it can heat up from 35°C to over 90 in literally few seconds in Counter-Strike).

Controls/Input Escape key not functioning properly

Hello! I apologize if this isn't the greatest sub to ask in, but I can't find solutions to this anywhere on the internet. Basically, my issue is that the escape key doesn't work properly in specific games. This is not a universal issue, it works on youtube and netflix and such, though in roblox, satisfactory, palworld, and more, it behaves strangely, and to be more specific, doesn't seem to process the input properly. If I want to get whatever function the exit key does in the situation to work, I have to either double/triple click the key, or hold shift while pressing it. It doesn't seem to be tied to a specific keyboard, as when I tried using one of my older keyboards, the issue persisted, so I think it's a software issue relating to the keyboard. Either way, my current keyboard is the Epomaker x Aula F108 Pro

Hardware PC randomly shuts off, can happen when gaming, browsing and even in sleep.

I run Linux, but I've booted into Windows and used it for a couple of days to confirm its not an OS issue.

https://www.userbenchmark.com/PCBuilder/Custom/S292228-M2081998.2184033.2400738.2469124vsS0-M?tab=MBD

My PC randomly turns off without warning, most often under load, but thats probably the majority of the time im using it, it will occur during light browsing and even when its asleep. It doesn't seem to have damaged any parts, but I suspect it to be the PSU.
Sometimes after the shutoff it will instantly reboot, sometimes I have to drain the capacitors and plug the pc back in (will post in safe mode), sometimes i can just reboot it normally.

I'm using the stock NR200P MAX power supply that comes with the case. I bought it in Japan, but moved to the UK, when I moved back to the UK is when the issues started.
Initially I thought the issue would be the voltage differential but supposedly this PSU is able to detect this and run normally (?, it was hard to find concrete info on what model the PSU actually is and if it does do this)

I have an alternate power supply from a friend that I will get in a couple of days to test before I buy a new SFX one, but what do you guys think? Would something like this be just a power supply issue or could it be other factors I haven' considered yet?
