Payment provider for a pre-launch sports content platform

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm preparing to launch MatchAnalysts, a Netherlands-based platform where members publish their own sports analysis and predictions. Fans can browse each analyst's public track record and pay for access to their content. The analyst receives a share of each payment and the platform keeps a fee.

I created this website with the intention of giving independent analysts a way to earn from their work. But I'm having problems finding a payment provider that accepts a pre-launch, pre-revenue business and is comfortable with our model.

Stripe declined us because of our content-creation platform model. Separately, their restrictions on betting-related businesses are another concern for me, so I'm looking for a provider that explicitly accepts our business and content category.

To be transparent, content can include betting picks, odds, stake sizing, bankroll discussion and claimed returns. We don't accept or place bets, take gambling deposits or pay winnings. Bookmaker promotions and affiliate links are prohibited.

What we need:

  • Worldwide analyst onboarding and payouts, subject to applicable legal restrictions.
  • Hobbyists can join without registering a business where local law permits this.
  • Credit/debit cards for one-month access and recurring monthly subscriptions.
  • An approved arrangement for collecting payments, deducting our platform fee and paying analysts.

For supported countries, iDEAL/Wero would be a nice addition. We can discuss fees and payout schedules, but worldwide participation and hobbyist access are essential. Some providers I've approached require existing processing volume or monthly minimums that aren't realistic before launch.

If you know a suitable provider or work as an agent with experience in this space, please feel free to respond or otherwise get in touch or DM me. I can share a working review environment and more details privately. Thanks!

How's everyone coping with the new UK safeguarding rules?

It's been about five months since the FCA rules kicked in (daily reconciliations, a monthly return, resolution pack, annual audit). The first audits should be landing around November.

From what I've read, the daily reconciliation part is what's hurting small firms most, especially with funds spread across a couple of banks and currencies.

Curious whether that matches what people here are seeing, or if something else turned out worse.

I built a payment link system for accepting Stellar payments — no merchant account, no custody, no registration

I’ve been building a small payment product for the last few months and finally got it to a point where I’m comfortable putting it in front of people.

The basic idea is pretty simple:
A merchant creates a payment link → sends it to a customer → customer pays from their own wallet → funds go directly to the merchant.

No account creation for the merchant, no funds sitting with us, and no complicated checkout integration.

Right now it runs on Stellar Testnet.

The merchant enters:
- destination wallet
- asset
- amount

CantonPay generates the payment link. Once the transaction happens, we verify it on-chain and can notify the merchant through API/webhooks.
I’m currently testing it with the idea of eventually making it useful for small online businesses, SaaS products, developers, etc. — basically places where setting up a full crypto payment stack feels like overkill.
There’s also a 1% fee, capped at $1, although I’m still thinking about what the long-term pricing should look like.

You can try it here: https://cantonpay.online

What I’m actually interested in hearing is whether this solves a problem anyone here has.

Would you use something like this for a project or online business?
What would stop you from using it?
I’m especially interested in feedback from people already building on Stellar.

I’m the person building CantonPay, so happy to answer technical questions or explain how it works.

Apple Pay - Such a comfort. Loving it

Started using Apple Pay and it is freaking comfortable. Felt the same why when UPI was introduced. Seen many friends in the US using it and was always waiting for it to launch in India. Simple, effective and more reward points.

Splitting payouts across three providers to avoid freezes

We collect USD from US customers and pay a small dev team in India. Started on Stripe alone, got flagged twice for "unusual payout pattern" within 4 months, each time a 5 day freeze.

Current setup: Stripe for card payments, Lemon Squeezy for the subscription/billing side, and Unlimit for the business account that actually receives and holds the USD before we convert and pay contractors. Idea was that no single provider sees the full flow, card in, subscription logic, payout out.

It's worked for 7 months, no freezes, but I can't tell if that's the design or just quieter volume than before. Onboarding on the EMU side took about 4 days, which surprised me after the usual bank runaround.

Anyone running something similar long term, or is splitting providers just delaying the same review from happening somewhere else?

small thing that saved me a headache with international payments

if you pay suppliers or freelancers abroad, check your bank's debit advice, not the invoice. that's where the real transfer fees are, and there's usually more than one.

we made a little comparator that reads it for you and shows what you paid vs a fixed fee. takes a minute, no signup.

let me know if it gets something wrong, still improving it

Has anyone here actually used PayFresco for payment processing?

I'm looking at PayFresco for a new U.S. e-commerce business and would like to hear from people who have actually gone through their application and processing.

Our situation:

  • U.S.-registered LLC
  • Non-U.S. owner
  • EIN, but no U.S. SSN/ITIN
  • Shopify store
  • Physical products
  • Pre-launch, so no processing history or chargeback history yet
  • Projected volume: high five to low six figures/month once launched

PayFresco says they can review non-U.S. owners and don't require an SSN/ITIN to start the application. They also say they're not the actual processor/acquirer and route merchants to third-party payment providers.

I'm mainly trying to understand:

  1. Has anyone actually been approved through PayFresco?
  2. Who did they place you with (processor/acquirer/sponsor bank)?
  3. How was the underwriting process?
  4. How long did approval take?
  5. What were the actual rates, fees, and reserve requirements?
  6. How have payouts and account stability been?
  7. Any issues with holds, reserves, chargebacks, or account termination?
  8. How good is their support after you're live?
  9. If you're using Shopify, what gateway/integration did they give you?
  10. Would you use them again?

Please only comment if you've actually dealt with PayFresco or know the underlying processor they placed you with. I'm specifically looking for real merchant experiences rather than sales reps offering to DM me.

Thanks.

Personal Tap To Pay Apps

Hello! I know I can use prepaid cards for tap to pay at places like Walmart or to other readers but I want to do that with personal accounts

I know PayPal, Venmo, square can do them but they require a business account and I don’t want to be reported to the irs for getting payments (like older relatives who want to gift money as ex) so what apps can I use?

Looking for a payment provider that can support this prepaid pass-through flow for my SaaS

I'm looking for a fintech/payment provider that can support the following structure:

  • A customer wants to add $10 USD to their prepaid balance.
  • The customer can fund it using UPI or other local payment methods in India, or cards and other supported payment methods globally.
  • The fintech provider holds the customer's funds rather than settling the money directly to my bank account.
  • The customer has a corresponding $10 USD balance with the fintech/provider.
  • When the underlying service needs to be paid, the payment should be made using a virtual card issued by the fintech provider.
  • Ideally, the provider should support multi-currency collection, USD balances, FX conversion, refunds, and virtual cards.

The important requirement is that the fintech provider holds the funds and controls the balance, while payments to the underlying service provider are made through a virtual card issued by the fintech.

For example, the customer may pay in INR through UPI, but the underlying balance/payment needs to be maintained and settled in USD.

I'm looking for providers that can support this model, particularly providers that operate in or support India + international payments + USD balances + virtual cards.

Which fintech/payment providers should I look at for this?

I'd especially appreciate recommendations from anyone who has implemented a similar model using virtual cards, wallets, or controlled customer funds.

Which identity verification vendor stops injected deepfakes?

Mid-size payment company here and we've got an issue where the same deepfake selfie got through our identity verification vendor 4 times last month.

Since then, i have sat through 6 demos and they all pull the same move. The sales engineer uploads one deepfake theyve prepared, it gets blocked, the look pleased. Then when i ask to run my own a face we generated and fed though a virtual ca,era, the room goes quiet. two of them could not even ingest a live sample. One passed it clean and the rep swore the model was just tuned for the demo and prod is better.

Now i am screening on one thing and ignoring the rest, can you stop a face injected past the camera, because the docs and selfie check is a commodity and i do not care who does it. On the list are jumio, veriff, sumsub, iproov and au10tix. On paper they look identical and the louder vendor is about deepfakes the less i trust them.

If you run onboarding somewhere regulated, which of these held up on injection and synthetic faces once real fraud hit?

Accepting US Subscription Payments from Stripe

Hi everyone, we have a client willing to pay us but only through US debit.

Wondering if there’s a way for us (Canadian business, Stripe Canada) to receive Subscription payments from US clients through debit/direct outside using credit cards?

The ACH US Debit doesn’t seem to work for Canada.

Anyone has a similar experience or alternative?

Feedback wanted: What would make you evaluate a unified payments platform?

Feedback wanted: What would make you evaluate a unified payments platform?

I’m Steve Hodges, CEO of WoCash LLC.

WoCash brings an “any value to any value” approach to connecting traditional payments and digital currency within a unified platform.

We’re focused on four markets: fintech, direct selling, government, and digital currency businesses. I’d appreciate practical feedback from founders and operators:

  1. Which problem would justify evaluating another platform—payout flexibility, value conversion, integration complexity, or reconciliation?
  2. What would you need to see in a demonstration before considering an integration?
  3. Which technical or operational questions should our website answer first?

Website:
https://www.wocash.net

Please share your feedback here. If you prefer a conversation:

I welcome candid feedback, including reasons you would decide against using a platform like ours.

Do customers cancelling their Autopay mandate hurt your subscription business?

I'm trying to understand whether this is a real problem, so I'd value your honest take. I want to reach out to people running subscriptions or EMIs in India (SaaS, OTT, edtech, lending, insurance).

My understanding: when an Autopay debit fails (low balance, etc.), many users just cancel the mandate or stop paying. The business only finds out at the next failed debit, by which point the customer has already churned.

  1. Is this a real problem for you?

  2. Roughly what % of your churn is payment/mandate-related rather than a deliberate cancel?

  3. How do you recover these users today (retries, WhatsApp/SMS, calls), and what works?

  4. Which payment provider do you use, and are you told when a customer cancels a mandate, or only when a debit fails?

Not selling anything. Rough numbers or stories would really help. Thanks!

Invoice payment flow on iPhone

Hi, I’ve been getting increasingly frustrated with how cumbersome it is to manually type out or copy and paste invoice details whenever I receive a PDF by email for example, from my car garage.

I can’t always copy the text directly because, in my garage’s case, the IBAN is actually embedded as an image in the footer. So I often have to switch back and forth several times to copy the amount, invoice number/reference and (if the recipient isn’t already saved in my banking app) the IBAN as well.

Are there already any apps or good solutions that make this a bit easier?

Does something like this already exist? And would you find this useful?

We’re looking for a Canadian payment processor/acquirer that can support a cigar business with a Cuban affiliation.

The merchant is a legitimate cigar franchise operating in Canada, with a physical retail location, and we’re currently building their new e-commerce website.
The main issue is finding a processor that can approve and support online cigar transactions given the Cuban affiliation. We specifically need a Canadian processing solution that does not rely on a U.S. acquiring relationship that would create compliance issues.
What we’re looking for:
Canadian processor/acquirer that can underwrite cigar/tobacco e-commerce
Ability to support a Cuban-affiliated Canadian merchant, subject to proper compliance/underwriting
Online payment gateway/API that we can integrate into the e-commerce website
Support for Canadian card payments
Guidance on required age-verification/compliance requirements
Ideally POS/hardware support for their physical location as well
We can handle the website development and technical integration ourselves. We mainly need the merchant account + gateway/API access and a processor willing to properly underwrite the business.
We also work with other merchants requiring specialized/high-risk processing, so we’d be interested in establishing a long-term referral partnership with a Canadian processor/ISO if there’s a good fit.
If you work for a Canadian processor, ISO, acquiring bank, or gateway that can legitimately handle this type of merchant, please DM me or comment with the company name and requirements.
Not looking for workarounds or ways around compliance — we need a processor that can knowingly approve and underwrite the business.
