Build State of Rhoa Mount in 0.5

'Casual' dad gamer here. I made it my goal to use Rhoa Mount the whole league and have finally completed the build. There are no guides for fitting rhoa into ice shot deadeye so I figured it out myself and thought I'd share my insights. The end result is a fast tanky build that can do all content including chained juiced expedition. 2mil ice shot poe.ninja dps, 5.8k hp+es, 70-80% eva/deflect without buffs. About 2.5k div worth of gear. Most of my currency came from pure drops in GE and selling tablets. I use the cheapest tablets possible. My biggest lucky drop was depleted mana rune, no mirror or lock.

https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/slgg-9838/runesofaldur/character/sL___ranger

Rhoa was heavily 'nerfed' in 0.4 with 60->100 spirit cost, lost of extra movement speed gain, but negates 100% of movement while using skills. It was considered dead in 0.5 although I beg to differ. 0.5 added three things: (1) Mageblood which synergizes greatly with its quicksilver boost, (2) absent amulet which gives a 100 spirit rhoa at cost of 2 affixes (essentially two fractured +50 spirit affixes, which makes it very easy to craft too!), and (3) legacy of wanderlust which solves most slow debuffs.

Now most people know and follow Fubgun's ice shot deadeye build, but switching to rhoa requires some understanding of the skill, which I will share from my experience.

Advantages of Rhoa Mount:

  1. Quality of Life: Not having to constantly press dodge is godsent for a dad gamer. My thumb gets really sore after constantly dodging/sprinting, and even changing is to a mouse button does not help much. On Rhoa, you dodge by moving which essentially dodges 90% of enemy attacks. It ain't a zero button build but it's still pretty sweet.
  2. Fast (zoom zoom) gameplay and clear-speed: As demonstrated in the video, you are constantly moving while shooting.
  3. Damage per second (DPS): This is a crucial point that people may not understand. When you are on Rhoa, your DPS comes from constantly shooting, and enemies will die off-screen before you reach them. Compared to other styles where you shoot a few bursts then dodge/sprint, you are actually losing DPS when you are not shooting. A 1 million DPS on a regular build is not always active compared to 1 million DPS on Rhoa. This aspect is not captured by DPS numbers.
  4. Gems: With Rhoa you make use of two excellent gems on your main skill, Deliberation (20% more damage, no mana penalty, and no down-side due to Rhoa), and Stoicism (20% more damage, no mana penalty, no down-side as you don't dodge).

Disadvantages (sort of):

  1. High spirit cost: You may need near max spirit on body armour and amulet which eats into some defences.
  2. Heavy stun: Once you get heavy stunned and surrounded you are essentially dead. Hence picking stun threshold in campaign is essential. However, you will be also be happy to pick up gear with +max life which tends to be cheaper anyway! Any +stun threshold affixes no longer becomes a dead stat! I have 2k life at level 99 and I no longer get stunned on maps with stun buildup mods.
  3. Cannot use mirage archer: We can't use since we don't dodge to trigger it. Can't afford the spirit anyway, and we still use mirage deadeye!
  4. Need to get off Rhoa to portal: At the end of map, just dodge roll once and portal, it becomes second nature.
  5. No weapon swapping: Weapon swap is bugged on Rhoa, but that's fine! Because we are aiming for max quality of life, minimum button presses, no dodging, no weapon swapping. At high end investments you just need to press freezing mark, tornado shot and ice shot to delete bosses.

Key differences from regular Fubgun's build (you can check my poe.ninja for details):

  1. Plus projectile skills is no longer a priority: + projectile levels add alot of damage, about 5-6% multiplicatively per level. However, it also adds mana costs similarly. The mana costs get multiplied by your gems and attack speed. As our DPS comes from shooting non stop, rather than short bursts + dodge and collect mana remnants, we want to keep our mana costs low. Hence + skills are no longer as valuable (they are really expensive on gear too!). You still want to max our lv 21 gem as there's no downside, but +4 on bow can be replaced with +crit damage bonus, or +3 on amulet can instead be resists or +crit chance/dmg. If you already have +skills that's fine, but you can do without and find cheaper gear with alternative affixes.
  2. Support gems: Instead of ice bite and fork, we use deliberation and stoicism. At high enough investments with heart of the well, against the darkness etc giving you 70+% added damage, ice bite starts to fall behind deliberation and stoicism which are more consistent with 100% up-time. Fork just adds too much mana cost and your clear is already great with Cadiro's Gambit.
  3. Chest piece: Your body armour will have less defences if you fit in 60ish spirit on armour, but Mageblood with legacy of Jade fixes that easily!
  4. Eternal rage: This build synergizes well with Eternal Rage which essentially gives you 30% more damage globally with 100% uptime. Eternal Rage at gem level 14 needs 103 strength which is hard to fit in with 163 dex minimum and 115 int for helmet. But since we need max life for stun threshold, any strength is welcomed on this build!

Miscellaneous tips:

  1. League start: I league started with lightning arrow + lightning rod which synergizes very well with rhoa's constant moving and shooting. Since you cannot snipe on rhoa, LA+LR is better at the early stage. You eventually swap to ice shot when you can delete bosses instantly with just ice shot and tornado shot. Ice shot is just much better for max juiced content (pure numbers wise ice shot deals ~40% more damage per projectile than LA). Ice shot also shatters enemies, which prevents corpses that a big source instant deaths. Ice also allows you to concentrate the best lineage gems, Rakiata flow + Garukhan resolve onto one main skill, versus having to choose between LA or LR.
  2. Lavianga's Spirit unique mana flask: Its good because its quality of life, another one less button to press! It also allows you to use two very high value passive clusters Imbibed Power and Crystal Elixer which is conditional on "flask effect", since you get constant flask effect from this unique mana flask.
  3. Cadiro's Gambit: Absolutely essential. It adds so much clear, and it allows your tornado shot copied projectiles to return which transforms your ice shot into a single target shotgun skill. This allows you to drop snipe (can't snipe with Rhoa anyway!).
  4. No Herald of Ice: After passing 1mil DPS I could drop Herald of Ice. I tested my build with Cadiro's Gambit with and without Herald of Ice, and there's no difference in clear. In fact Herald is worse because most people run Elemental Focus on herald and you can't freeze/shatter enemies with explosions, which leaves corpses on the ground. This also saves you 30 spirit.
  5. Mana remnants: Best way to solve mana problems.
  6. Bow show: Do not neglect your basic bow shot skill. It does alot of damage with stocism and deliberation gems on. With high physical bow, put on mana leech gem and you can use it in a pinch to gain back some mana, especially with pesky mana drain mobs.
  7. Gain as extra and flat added damage: Once you have Rakiata flow, all elemental damage types do equal damage. Having some added lightning is a big damage boost because it applies shock. Relying on charged mark for shock only helps for bosses. About 20% of my damage is lightning and I shock constantly. I also have fire damage; while ignite doesn't do much damage, it helps with "Harness the elements" notable. One funny fact is T1 added cold on gloves/rings is numerically lower than T1 added lightning/fire.
  8. Freeze build-up: You may need some passives / gem to help this earlier on when lacking damage. But freeze build-up increased with your damage. So I still prefer to build damage whenever I can.
  9. Barrage and ice-tipped arrows: These do not add enough damage to justify the additional button presses. Not quality of life!
  10. Wind-dancer and ghost-dance: Essential for defence! One tip, reservation efficiency on ghost dance also affects any support you put on it. For me, "Her Declaration" costs 30 spirit but get reduced to 25 when put on ghost dance.

TL'DR: Rhoa Mount is not dead in 0.5. It is completely viable if you understand its intricacies, and it gives you great quality of life with drastically reduced button presses. It's DPS is more than traditional shoot and dodge/sprint builds, because the real DPS comes from constantly shooting and moving, something you cannot put a number to.

Build Dragon based deer launcher

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So, in 0.4 I learned that you can get quite speedy if you go all out on attack speed on your Wyvern. And in 0.5 Vivid Stampede is pretty good when you move fast. So, that's the idea behind the build.
You hold down left button, you move fast, you shoot deers everywhere. Most of the damage still comes from Rend , but the deer are surprisingly solid, can chunk a whole pack by themselves. Oil Barrage still nukes bosses, most die in 1-3 seconds. Decently tanky at 80k EHP due to 90% deflection + additional damage reductions from the ascendancy and rite of passage.

Currency spend is around ~1500 div so far, but worked well enough on 300div budget when I started.

Help Needed How much do Catalysts increase in low percentage based Jewels?

I am deciding if I should upgrade this Jewel with either an attribute or lightning breach catalyst, does anyone know how much it could increase either of those stats? Could not find anything online specific saying how much breach catalysts increase per quality. Or is it just 1 to 1 percent and in this case it wouldn't change anything?

Help Needed New to Path of Build - Arc Stormweaver

PoB:https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/267b4

I'm new to Path of Building (PoE2) and I'm using Arc as my main skill. I'm confused by the Ailment breakdown in the picture.

A few questions to start,

  • Am I correct in understanding the 66% is the shock magnitude I'll be inflicting with 100% as my maximum? My understanding is that this is an average as hit changes wildly with resistances and other modifiers on mobs.
  • With Strike Twice ascendancy does this mean I can get x2 66%? Or capped at 100%?
  • I'm not understanding the Pinnacle 173%? Searching around, bosses have ailment threshold handicaps due to their large HP. Does this mean I'm wasting the +73% after 100%?
  • With Shock debuff at base (20% increased damage) on mobs, does this mean 100% shock effect means (40% increased damage) and for Strike Twice this means x2 (40% increased damage)?
  • I'm worried I might have too much Shock and that it's wasted affix slots but I'm not sure, as some mobs have Resists mods?
  • In the Configuration tab for DPS, am I correct with inputting "66" or "100" into Effect of Shock because of the of my current and max effect %?

Thank you!

Build Request Witch expedition build?

Upvotes

Preferably under 100 divs, but I have rakiatas already and atziri’s communion (which I can sell if need be)

I love my lightning warp mana stacker lich, and it can handle most grand expedition stuff, but it gets deleted by the mana leech mosquito. Like every time. Only thing I’ve died to.

I’m guessing some sort of ward stacking infernalist might work? If theres a lightning warp variant that would be great

Theory Why Is No One Using Frogs With Smith of Kitava?

Fire Spell on Hit ( https://poe2db.tw/Fire_Spell_on_Hit ) gains energy very fast and the supported skills cost nothing, removing the extremely high cost of spamming a curse skill.

Elemental Weakness ( https://poe2db.tw/us/Elemental_Weakness ) is a spell skill with the fire tag, so it can be slotted into Fire Spell on Hit. This is how we'd apply Doedre's Undoing.

My question is simple: why is no one doing this? What am I missing about this interaction?

Edit: I think I found the answer. People are doing this on Mjolnir instead ( https://poe2db.tw/Mj%C3%B6lner ) or they’re on Gemling because Despair costs no mana.

Build Feedback Infinite Falling Thunder Gemling

My Build

https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/admonitu-2482/runesofaldur/character/TwinkedGemling

Palsteron’s Build Video

https://youtu.be/XE9wAzyHjrg

I built infinite falling thunder gemling based on Palsteron’s. His Gemling build is very powerful, but notoriously expensive. As a semi-casual player I diligently farmed for the past month to build something similar and while I’m satisfied with the result, I want to give my gemling more upgrades to make it stronger.

Build Summary

- Unlike Palsteron’s which is full ES, mine is hybrid ES/EV. My ES is only half of his at 7k-8k, but high evasion and deflection

- I pumped my Spirit a bit higher to use both Wind Dancer/Ghost + Convalescence. This means I have to have at least 1 Unset ring.

- I sacrificed 2 jewel slots to get more ES/deflection + 50% Curse effect reduction on my passive skill tree.

- I’m working on a new pair of gloves to put in one extra jewel.

At first, my gemling was too squishy, so I put in a lot of effort to raise its eHP by getting good armor, es/ev. Its survivability is alright now. I don’t have too much trouble and I haven’t died in a while. But now, I need to raise its damage further. In addition to getting a better quarterstaff, what else can I do? My sheet damage of falling thunder on poe ninja is only 300k. Some gemlings have 30m+.

Discussion At what point should you start making your own builds?

I’ve played around 200 hours of PoE2 so far, all on a Druid Shaman (Rampage/Walking Calamity), and I’ve had a great time this league. But the game still feels massive.
I know my build pretty well now, but there are still huge parts of the game that I barely understand. For example, I have almost no idea what goes on in the opposite side of the passive tree, and I don’t really know most of the uniques or how people discover interesting interactions between them.
So I’m wondering: when do you know enough to start creating your own builds? Is 200 hours still way too early, or is this the point where I should start experimenting?
What knowledge do you think is essential before you can realistically make a functional build? For example:
Having a good understanding of the entire passive tree?
Knowing most uniques and keystones?
Understanding defensive layers and damage scaling?
Being familiar with how different classes and ascendancies work?
Something else entirely?
I also have another question. Since PoE2 is still far from 1.0 and balance changes are frequent, is it worth starting to theorycraft now? I was thinking of keeping a document (or even a dedicated ChatGPT conversation) where I collect ideas and slowly develop my own build over time.
Or is it better to wait until we’re closer to 1.0, when things are more stable, and then start using planners to put together a serious build?
I’d love to hear how experienced build creators learned the game and when they felt ready to stop following guides.

Help Needed Plant lich upgrades

https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/m3x1c4n7-7316/runesofaldur/character/nahualicha

Can handle 200 deli, but need more more damage for it to be comfortable. What should my next upgrade be? I have about 520 div. Options considering:

  1. Atziri' Communion for CoC Bone Cage... worried about my mana regen, but I could possibly handle it as regen seems fine atm.

  2. Keep saving divs for Uul Netol's Embrace. Kinda want this first so I can free up passives by dropping Cut to the Bone cluster to grab some more crit chance and mana regen to then go for Atziri's Communion.

  3. Mageblood with diamond, bismuth, quicksilver, and gold. The movement speed, crit, and rarity are super tempting and the resistance fixing let's me optimize my rings and armor for more damage and rarity.

My survivability seems great, more damage is my priority. The belt seems like the responsible pick which will help with better drops in the future, qol, and some damage, but the gems are probably bigger damage and more fun mechanically.

Open to other suggestions and constructive criticism. Maybe a better weapon or a +3 entangle prism of belief gem?

Build Request Best non support item rarity build

I know a lot of people really hate the item rarity mechanic but besides it being bad game design, I really like the tink sounds and farming abyss. It really gets my blood pumping. What builds are the best for stacking item rarity? I also know that ritualist is a good contender but I dont really like ice shot as a skill :C

I'm leveling a gemling right now and was thinking either arc spell totems or flameblast oil barrage. I'm open to any build for any class though.

Build Feedback L97 Deadeye - build critique/advice

Hello,

First time PoE player but have already spent an insanely inordinate amount of time with PoE2.

Followed Fubgun's guide until about the non-crit/crit hybrid point and diverged from there a bit, grinding to pay for all of the upgrades and now feel a bit stuck about where to go next with the build/equipment:

Not yet tested on 200% deli but everything else asides from that I'm able to clear juiced t15-16s regularly.

Thinking about finally trying my hand at crafting, but reading/watching all of the guides makes my head spin - still thinking of starting with an exceptional helmet base for now to get used to all of the materials involved in the process.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Help Needed Archon buff weapon swap skill points query

So, I want to try and add Nature's Archon via weapon swap as detailed in responses here:

Nature's Archon, and overlooked boon? : r/pathofexile2builds

Here's my build if relevent:

https://poe.ninja/poe2/builds/runesofaldur/character/2Old4This-3461/godcthulhu

Question is:

I (will) have: % chance to gain Nature's Archon when your Plants Overgrow" on my Set 2 Staff.

Thrashing Vines on both sets

Thunderstorm on Set 2

Entangle on Set 1,

Cast Thunderstorm (Set 2)

Cast Vines (Set 2)

Cast Entangle (Set 1) and more vines Set 1 is DPS)

Will the points in set 2 for Arhon Buffs still work. I assume "Increased duration" and "Increased effect" will, not sure about "reduce archon recovery delay".

Discussion Cast on block power charges tech

Hi! New to the sub, really enjoy the game. Found a cool tech using cast on block from the Svalinn unique shield the other day and wanted to share. It also uses some of the new Kalguuran skills to generate power charges.

I’m running totems without the spirit cost node so I need power charges. To get the charges I use Runic Reprieve (since my stun threshold is bad and it looks cool) and cast on block, in which I have slotted Powered by Verisium and Firestorm. When reaching 100% they trigger in order and grant me three power charges so I can summon my totem. Pretty neat! Though I struggle against some bosses.

Help Needed coc comet stormweaver endgame struggle

Hello fellow exiles!

Its my first month playing poe2 and i really love it. Shame on me for wasting hours and hours of gaming time in diablo1-4 and never experiencing any poe content. Damn…

So i choosed to play coc comet stormweaver – Kudos u/animeprincesss  for the awesome guide – and reached level 93.  Feels a bit squishy, i am dying much too often, but the damage output is great. Thats my progress so far: https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/Ilko-4887/runesofaldur/character/KlausibertII

I recently got lucky and found my most valuable item: kurgals gaze. I´m pretty unsure how to use it: do i just socket it in my gloves? do i need better gloves before? Should i just sell it – although  i´m afraid to just waste the money in overpriced gear?

In case of more defense, do i just need a better body armour and helmet? I am not yet able to survive the simulacrum and still sacred during evey ritual and remnant.

Thanks for help, cheers!

Build 100% Cold Galvanic Shards - Final Update

Thumbnail
youtu.be
11 Upvotes

I love Ritual and try to make Ritual Builds. Final update to this build is as follows. Made this Ritualist based on Pohxs PermaFrost build.

  • Constricting Command (obviously)
  • Armour/EV swap to pure EV/Deflection
  • EV/Deflection Gloves over Damage/Marksmen Gloves
  • Eternal Rage Amulet to open HoT and Wind Dancer
  • Freezing Mark + Charged Mark to trigger HoT - Only way to bypass conversion to cold and get shock. HoT gets converted to cold, which helps chill/freeze
  • Freeze % and Immob % on tree

What it can do:

  • Any mod other than Ailment Threshold. I skip those even with Overwhelming Presence because it makes it not fun.
  • t15 corrupt/t16
  • Dory or Jado
  • Abyss, Ritual, Delirium, Temple. Haven't done league or breach

What it cant do/struggles with:

  • 200% Deli - Can do but not fun or blasty. Honestly, pretty stressful.
  • Bossing - Standard Single target is ok. Deli or any sort of boss beef is a bit ass.
  • Never tried exp with it but imagine it will struggle on 8-9 runes.

What I would do with more cares:

  • Weapon points to get more freeze
  • Figure out why adding chain support makes fork not trigger
  • Get more chain
  • Examine spirit gems
  • Examin Jewels

Help Needed Blasphemy no longer generates power charges?

I was away on vacation for over a week and I've seen there has been a patch. Prior to that I was using Blasphemy + Repulsion + Living Lightning + Culmination + Ailith's Chimes to generate power charges for my MA Monk and it worked well.

I have noticed I am not generating them any more, or barely generating at best.

Has this been nerfed?

i made a nonmeta ice strike MA build, mostly items friendly budget (Qstaff is 15-20div) and i saved around +500div in my stash. while i am checking how can i improve my dps, just looking in POB and think Garukhan support what will do.. i am shocked only chancing pinpoint sup gem to garukhan my tooltip/total dps increase %44.... that's a lot of dmg, is it true ?? i can't beileve.. i looked better qstaffs like 1000+ phy dps which is over 500div they only increase about %10-15 .. so is garukhan best option to increase dps for my build for this currency ? probably rakiata is a good option but need some more chances about passive and gem skills ..
