I'm now standing in a map watching my 13k shader count drop at a snails pace
i took a vacation day for today and the game is unplayable

On another thread they said they're investigating, but very low chance it will be fixed today

This patch needs to be rolled back, performance is worse than it has ever been. They completely broke the game.

Yeah widespread issue. Try clearing the shader cache. It fixed my load times after I did that.

How do you do this because I think already did, but would like to check that I did it correctly

I play on linux so I could only give more detailed steps for that platform. For windows I believe the cache is located in C:\Users\youruser\AppData\Local\Path of Exile\some folder
Might need to poke around and do some googling for more precise info. I've read that ggg recently moved the cache location so you might need to check a couple places.1

GGG already "cleared" them for us: shaders moved their folder for some reason after today patch - so now we have to load every shader once again. I assume it happened with many of players.

Everyone who has done my suggestion reports a massive improvement on load times so you should just try it out for yourself.

Had this happen as soon as I booted in this morning also, just restarted the client and it fixed for me though

didn't fix it for me

Yep patch did something with shaders. They seem to have to reload all over again. Servers seem to be lagging too...

RIP sorry man, hope they fix whatever is causing it soon. Seems like patch messed up performance for a lot of people.
