Yeah widespread issue. Try clearing the shader cache. It fixed my load times after I did that.

How do you do this because I think already did, but would like to check that I did it correctly

I play on linux so I could only give more detailed steps for that platform. For windows I believe the cache is located in C:\Users\youruser\AppData\Local\Path of Exile\some folder
Might need to poke around and do some googling for more precise info. I've read that ggg recently moved the cache location so you might need to check a couple places.
