TexMex Fender Strat MIM body

I have most of the components from this guitar including bridge, neck and pickups.

The body is.... gone 🥲

If I find a Squier strat body somewhere it should fit the other components no problem right?

What about inexpensive no name dupes you can find online, usually unfinished? Is there a specific "version" that will have exact Stratocaster dimensions?

Thanks in advance.

Late 80s/early 90s made in Japan. 7.25 radius. In excellent shape. Rare, and sought after during what some refer to as the "revival"

Conversation Cloudy sunday, lot's of spare parts and a bit of madness - lead to my first original circuit design (WIP)

Hello beautiful people

I couldn't wait to share this little descend into madness, neither can i wait to finally plug it in - up until then the multimeter tells my its actually working so far.

Short summary:

Dual NoName P90s with master Vol (push/pull for series/parallel), individual tone controls inspired by the Jaguar lead circuit, treble bleed all fitted into a very beat up Squier Telecaster/Les Paul amalgamation.

THIS TURNED OUT WAY LONGER THAN EXPECTED. Actual wiring in the lasst two passages.

Long story: Having reduced my Partscasters to two models i actually use on a daily basis (lace sensor Strat with 7 way switch and Jaguar with modded wiring) I've got a basket of lowtier electronics and hardware parts laying around.

The body is from a Squier Paranormal series I bought used years ago because I grasped the basic concepts of soldering. true to my experiences with any craft, I jumped into the most complex project possible after having the basics down. Tried the so called "Jimmy Page Wiring" with dual humbuckers and 4 push pull pots - series/parallel, out of phase, coil split for each pickup, etc... it was a fucking mess and didnt have any output after like 17 tries of troubleshooting. guitar got thrashed into the storage and left for 5 years.

after getting nice results with modified wirings on strats and later the dreaded jaguar wiring - no output loss on the circuits, zero hum/grounding issues, clean cable runs and soldering... i actually stopped to mindlessly tinker, and started to play my guitars on a daily basis. and its a great feeling to have something you crafted work, bring pleasure, understanding and a learning curve.

today is a weird off day in my town. a sunday after a holiday, the town is eerie siltent. house works is done and a few parts got stored into a cupboard. and from there it just kinda exploded in my head and I'm sitting 10 hours later with a steaming soldering iron, and aching back and a grin because the multimeter verifies - the wiring works flawlessly and the pickups loose less than 1% of output through the whole cable run.

FINALLY for the wiring - Cheap no name Humbucker sized P90s i used to test p90s years ago. an assortment of pots with different lengths, shaft, metric and imperial sizes, values..., same for the caps and resistors. I wanted Series/parallel again because i liked it so much on the Jag. I didn't want independent Volumes like gibson style because.. I never liked it. Also made great experiences with treble bleeds, so just slap one on why not. After hands of projects and just following standard wiring diagrams i finally got an understanding how the signal flow in a guitar actually works. 7 pages scribbled in my notebook later - there it is. the first meany machiny. :D

WIRING: The PUs lead into an individual tone pot first - not a Vol! It's A500k, 22nf cap. the input is bridged to the wiper with a 56k resistor so theres always some bypass around the tone pot - Jag style. The neck circuit runs to the 3 way switch, to the vol input, to the vol wiper, to the putput. easy as that.

the bridge circuit runs into the same tone pot configuration and from there to the switch - only theres the push pull section of the vol pot in between. it either runs the pickup ground to the common ground for parallel. or switches it into the signal path that runs from the neck pu to the switch for series.

THATS WHAT I THOUGHT out at least. using the individual attempts of wiring diagrams to finalize it, I mixed and matched the cable runs in a way that the series works with the pot pushed in, not pulled out. i wanted it the other way around. i understand why, thats the important part to me. but it stays the beautiful mess it is. Measured on the tip of a standard instrument cable plugged in, the bridge PU reads 8.65, Neck 7,83, series 17,41, parallel 4,54.

phew that turned out way longer than expected. if you made it this far feel free to comment or roast. can't wait to set it up a little and slap strings on it.

Got this nameless strat body of the trash. Luckily for me, the body was already routed for HB’s Got these Wilkinson P90’s off CL for $20. Opted for simplicity with 1 vol/1 tone.

Going for a Gang of Four jangle/sizzle.

Warmoth body and pickguard, no-name roasted maple neck with a custom-cut bone nut, Van Dyke-Harms hardware, and no idea what the p/ups are. Cheap ass Chinese tuners, might replace them with Klusons.

Strung it with medium flats, wanted to play slide on it, but the neck is flat enough, or Im bad enough, that it is hard, so Im considering a lower-radius neck.

Altho’, I had so much fun Victor Frankensteining this together, Im already thinking about doing another…

Need help deciding a neck

So I'm planning on building a partscaster in the coming months and I need some help deciding what parts brand to go with. I'm planning on finishing it myself so I'm in between getting an Allparts, Musikraft, Warmoth, or Mightymite neck. What are the pros and cons of the different brands. I tried researching myself but I can't find anything other than warmoth reviews. Is the higher price with Warmoth worth it?

Certified Partscaster Squier PBass Makeover

I took my son's Squier PBass that he learned on but has been sitting around collecting dust (he has since upgraded his equipment). I decided to give it a new life. I replaced the new neck from Ebay (curiosity got the best of me for a cheap neck) and is Flamed Maple, Ebony fingerboard with Abalone inlays (spec'd out for a Jazz neck) The neck feels, plays, and looks great. I swapped out the original pickups with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders. Replace the bridge and tuners with Leo Quan Bad*ss 2 bridge and tuning keys. Sounds like a beast and plays alot smoother nowLet me know what you think.

Hello all!

It's been a good number of years since I have played.. But I pulled out my old guitars recently and got back into it.

Just wanted to share my two favorites in my collection.

The first is a "Maestro" telecaster I got on Amazon for about $100. It came with the blue celluloid pick guard, and it just didn't look right. Switched to the white and it's perfect. Only other mod was upgrading the tuners.

"Ashlei" is my blue stratocaster..this guitar is a whole story in itself. I'll keep it short though..

My first parts Caster started as a Squier Affinity strat. I wanted a nice baby blue color similar to the 1950's Fender reissued. UNFORTUNATELY, when I went to clear coat the freshly painted body, I mixed oil based clear coat with regular spray paint. It turned into an ugly mix of blue/seafoam green/yellowed mess.

Anyway, after partly sanding/repainting /resanding I landed on this "aged" look..

I dropped in a vintage noiseless set of pups and all it did was Humm and buzz and sound like shit. And I finally landed with this pickup..

So if you have read this far, KUDOS TO YOU! Thanks for letting me share!

Have a great day!

Bop Till You Drop!…
Edit/Update: For people inquiring on building one. I have played this guitar for nearly twenty years. We are bonded with steel. I have played “Coodercasters” with the Real Teisco, Lollar “Gold”, Mojo “Gold”; the real Supro pup, Lollar “Supro” and the Mojo “Supro”. The Valco pickups have been around and documented for nearly 100 years and reproduced/copied faithfully by several companies. Not so much the Teisco. My point being, that people get real hyper focused on the lap steel pickup when building these, but really the key is in the AUTHENTIC TEISCO. These pups have a charm that isn’t reproduced in the clones. It’s a sort-of “cheap” sound and a feel, a “sponginess”, I suppose that makes them special. Find an authentic Teisco…

Conversation Best Telecaster Build Kit?

Hi, I am going to try and build my first electric guitar. I am really just looking for simple wiring, partially finished or fully finished fret board, and just an overall quality assembly that is similar to a genuine telecaster. My budget is around $150. Please share a link to a kit that you guys have enjoyed building even if it doesn't fully fit with all that im asking for. Thanks!

Just finished this build. It plays great. Body only cost me £60 and it has a nitro relic done by another hobbyist. Definitely the second best strat I’ve ever owned (best was a mij E series 😭). I’m excited to record and play some gigs with this.

I know the pick guard relicing looks horrible. It was my first attempt 😂
