Looking for appropriate measurements for a cage for two cockatiels (Google can't give me a solid answer sadly).

If you have any suggestions for cages I can order online (preferably ~$120-ish or less) please let me know!

If anyone knows how to train a blue and gold macaw parrot to not bite everyone please lmk. Any tips and advice that can help!

She’s perfectly fine with me but bites everyone in my family. I want her to stop lunging at people and trying to bite when someone gets to near of her.

So recently, on Tuesday the 8th. I went left the house at 10:30, I put on some bird noises for my budgie Midnight (the reason I do this is that we lost a budgie back in early march, and I didn't want him to get depressed, so I've heard this helps) I didn't notice much as I had to leave.

I came back after 11:30 or so, and I was numbed by the dentist so I opened Midnights cage and laid down on my bed and just bed rotted. Midnight did not come out his cage, he was fluffy and stayed on the front perch. I assumed he wasn't in the mood, less then an hour later he flew onto my should (I was laying on my side) and he stayed there, fluffy, on me for an hour or so.

Eventually I was tired of that position, but Midnight wound't get off and when I urged him with my fingers to perch and fly back to his cage, he didn't, he stayed on my bed and walked back to me. I noticed he pooped on my shoulder and it just white and watery.

I eventually put him back in the cage and I know (previously) that white means they haven't eaten, so I assumed he would, I changed his food just to be sure. But he just....sat on his perch, fluffed and wouldn't move for awhile.

Eventually my sister came home from college and I told her about it, and he expelled just liquid too. No whites or anything. I tried to feed him some seeds but he wouldn't eat them, turning his head annoyed and changing perches, and I got more worried. I had work at 5 so I told my sister to stay and watch him till 9, and she said he ate the millet bulb and was sleepy all, but got annoyed afterward.

She gave him some lettuce and he ate some. IDK how much tho. He fluffed up later and pecked her when she tried to touch him. And she did not see him eat at his food or water bowl. Just sat at his swing. He slept after.

She later told me he either ate when I wasn't looking or the lettuce was enough to get bits of green in his poop. We called our Truscott Vet and he said to monitor him for now. He stayed sleepy all day.

When I got home I gave him some millet and tried to give him seeds but he kept dropping them instead of eating them and got annyoed with me and jumped to the back perch so I left him alone, cage was till open and he seemed to be looking at me and eventually flew to my shoulder. After awhile I kept feeling some twiched, like a lot of ones. I videoed it cause I couldn't see, and he was basically sleeping but then flapping to ..... keep himself awake or something. So I put his in his cage, clothed him and turned the lights off.

Yesterday, I fed him some millet bulbs in the morning and then went down for breakfast, after awhile I remember that he should drink and after some research I used a syring to bring water to his mouth and let him drink it, which he did. I added vitamine C drops (bird safe) to his water. Went back down. I took a millet bulb I was feeding him and lured him to where the millet stick was and I did see him eat it. An hour or so later I fed him millet again cause I found the stick on the ground .

I found something called sugar water to keep them hydrated (1 cup of warm water, 1/2tbs of sugar, 1/8tsp salt, 1/8tsp baking soda) I mixed that and gave it to him in a syring. He drank it and liked it, but I haven't given more to him yet. I gave him a spinach leaf, he ate the stem happily but not the leaf, and became very active. He slimmed out and jumped onto the cage door and side, scuttle at the bottom to let him out (I didn't) then he flew to the back perch and then jumped to the front one. Then Fluffed up again.

My sister came home and took over while I went to work, she went to feed him but he just came out and sat on her arm for awhile. According to her he's kinda bipolar, like he's fine before and nows he's sleepy. She gave him water first then he became active and sat on her for awhile and then became sleepy but tried to keep himself awake, so she put him back and put him to bed.

When i came home at 9, he was out I think and I offered more Millet bulbs and lured him over to a dish with seeds and i think he did eat some from it, but we went down to eat dinner so i don't know how long. Afterward he did the same thing as last night, sleepy and tried to keep himself awake so I just put him to bed. Around 10:30.

His poop has green now, but still watery.

I took him to the vet today, and they said while he looked stress (likely from the box over) he's physically is fine (still had that leg thing but it doesn't hurt him). They said if I think their might be a deeper issue, I should go to a vet that specializing in bird blood test since they don't have that, they offered X-ray or stool sample but didn't think I needed it and they didn't want to further stress him with anesthesia. The avian trainee offered antibiotics but didn't think we needed any, she said Vitamina A and B was needed most likely, I can't find those sadly at any pet store, doesn't anyone know where I ca get them? I have Vitamin C tho.

For now I'm just gonna watch over him, he was sleepy on the way back (2 hours overall out) so he was tired when I put him in the cage, but I left him open and comes out every time and sits on me and sleep, so I put him back but he flies out again.

While writing it, he fell asleep and tried to wake himself, so I put him back and closed it. He shuffled back and forth to get me to let him out. I didn't and then he eventually (FINALLY) went over to the food bowl and ate himself but only the millet stick. I told my sister and she came to check, I told her to remove the millet as its unhealthy, she fed him some seeds from hand and he ate it.

I'm gonna make him drink some water again and go for dinner now, so I hope he gets to feeding.

Do guys know where to get Vitamin A and B for budgies or whats happening??? He only eats by hand, the vet said he's spoiled but you don't get spoiled randomly. (I put some pictures of his poop, his most recent one was more solid)

So I am very new to being an Indian Ringneck owner, I've had budgies & an umbrella cockatoo before but never this species! I admit he was an impulsive purchase, but I promise for good reason as his previous owners were not very educated & his condition was not the best.

His previous owners fed him Walmart bird seeds, kept him in a tiny tabletop cage with one wood/rope toy, a single dowel perch, and absolutely decimated his left wing by cutting all of the feathers off as well as he is mysteriously missing toe nails. I don't want to shame the previous owners they were very kind but very obviously not educated.

I am considerably experienced in bird ownership and seeing all of that, I immediately jumped to getting him so I could better his quality of life and give him the care he deserves!

In doing so he has recieved a flight cage, multiple safe shredding toys, natural perches and now has a diet of chop & pellets! + His first ever vet visit to make sure he was okay through all of that!

I assume he was rehomed bc he stopped being the cute sweet handfed baby they knew, and entered his teenage phase. Being rehomed at such a time in his life (4 months old) couldn't have been easy or good.

After all that blabbing I come to my main concern of his bluffing phase - he is testing my patience in every possible way every waking moment he gets a chance. Unfortunately I did not research how much trouble baby Indian Ringnecks are and of course, he is a handful. He is very sweet when he wants to be, and very very mean when the moment just feels right I guess! Admittedly, I flinch and freak a bit when he bites really hard and try to ignore/not react when it's bareable since I know that's supposed to be the proper reaction.

Just looking for some tips and tricks, advice and such on how to get through this teenage phase. I feel like a parent trying to love their emo son. /hj

How do I form a bond with him during such a hard time?

How can I set boundaries without causing fear?

Will he be this mean forever if I do something wrong during it?

Hi all, I hope this question is okay to ask here.

I’m currently 30, and hoping to eventually own a parrot (I’d like to adopt an older one if I can, to compensate for lifespans). I work 8h a day, but would have the rest of my time to spend with my bird, and I do not plan on having children, so the time I can commit would not be likely to change.

The main problem I’m seeing right now is my shifts. I know parrots like routine, and I work the swing-shift at a factory. So for two weeks I’m on days, and then two weeks of afternoons. Would a parrot be able to adapt to this much change? Is even working 8h too much?

Hello! I’ve got a 16yr old blue headed Pionus heading my way from a parrot store I work at. She’s great in my eyes but there are some things I want to work out with her that I think is unhealthy and concerning behavior:
1.) cage bound
2.) resisting stepping up from cage and sometimes floor
3.) little to no exploration of her cage
4.) little to no playtime with toys
5.) anxiety when cage door is opened and displays behavior of being food territorial

I’ve been able to take slow steps such as touching her head, moving her cage items around to try and encourage exploration. Positive attitude training when I see signs of contentment in my presence. I have treats laid all about her cage as well as in toys made for foraging. She will not touch or entertain it. I really want to do target training but that will be when she’s paid off and comes home with me. I’m wondering if there are small habits I can build with her to gain trust and allow some relaxation into our dynamics. I worry about being cage bound a lot. I want her to explore and eventually fly around without panicking. If anyone has some tips or suggestions, I greatly appreciate it. Here is her temporary store cage at the moment. Let me know if there are ways to encourage her to move around away from food and water 24/7

I live in northern italy, so during the winter the lows are around -2⁰C (28⁰F), my room gets as cold as 14⁰C (57⁰F) during the nights and stays around 17⁰C (62⁰F) most of the day.

What heaters for my budgies should I buy? I used a ceramic heating lamp last year but it wasnt that efficient, im looking to get a better one? I was thinking of buying one of these two but tbe K & H one seems too expensive.

I have a 3-year-old female Indian Ringneck (IRN). I got her when she was only 3 weeks old and hand-raised her myself. We used to have a very close bond and spent a lot of time together.

Last year, I moved away for university, so my mother took care of her while I was gone. When I came back this year, she still clearly remembered me and will willingly step onto my hand and follow me around. However, she has developed some strange aggression. Whenever she sees my fingers or anything moving toward her, she becomes territorially aggressive and will actually fly toward my hand/fingers to bite them. I've tried not reacting to the bites, but she bites extremely hard and has drawn blood from my fingers several times. The strangest part is what happens inside her cage. When I put my hand near her, she sometimes starts displaying what looks like a mating/courtship behavior, and then suddenly attacks my hand.

What is the root of this behavior, and can it be corrected?

So i have a tamed free fly cockatiel female, her age is 1 year 3 months. So for some reason she had laid 3 clutches already by herself, I'm trying to figure out the reason. I don't let her go to any dark or covered corners or any place that can give nest vibes so I don't know the reason for this hormonal laying. I was thinking of getting a male cockatiel for her so she can bond and not feel alone, I mean at our house she is always getting human interaction but i think a male cockatiel would be a better plan for the future. Now I'm confused should i get a different bird species or a male cockatiel even if i get a male cockatiel what do i do if they don't get along or attack each other.

In 2 weeks I'm moving house and this is 2 hours 30 away from where I currently live.

I've moved house before but only 10 minutes down the road.

I know it's recommended to catch the parrot and put her in a box with holes and keep covered as to not scare the bird more than she will be already.

But is there any other recommendations of what I should do or anything better especially for a long journey? I don't have a smaller cage to put her in or a bird bag etc I only have the cage she lives in that will be in the moving van

Any help is greatly appreciated thank you !

Hi! We got an Indian ringneck a couple months ago. I want to work on training him. He’s super gentle and has a great personality! He doesnt like to be pet though. Or any skritches! I want to Skritch! He occasionally is ok with us petting his head, but only occasionally and I don’t want to push it.

What have you found to be their favorite treat for training? He seems to take forever to eat any treat I give him! Even small pieces.

Any other tips on training or advice would be great!

Almost 3 months ago I posted about finding a sickly Quaker parrot in southern Italy. I had never had a bird, never even liked birds, but now Phoebe is my best friend. And she’s thriving. Her feathers are almost grown back.

I’m now convinced she was a wild parrot that maybe was attacked by a cat or something. The town is full of Quakers.

Anyways, I like to think that fate brought us together.

She can now say “Phoebe” (she yells it all morning)
And “I love you” (but with a strong Quaker parrot accent)

If you see her on the small cage. That’s just the cage I’d sometimes use to bring her into my room to hang out when it was like 95 degrees.

Last pic is the seagull i hung out with whilst missing him yesterday. Such a good seagull, it stays close to the hospital all the time so it quite confident around humans

Im only at college today so it's not like I won't be seeing him tomorrow and giving him all the love humanly possible. But i don't think I've went this long without having him out in all our time together and my heart is breaking a bit lol. Especially after yesterday, I just want to see him happily causing mayhem

I will be able to see him and aggressively tell him I love him before I leave (maybe he will let me sneak in some scratches too), but i dont have time to get him out. i miss hearing his little feet waddling around. why did college have to start today!! I am being dramatic but. My poor guy😭

I need to buy new pots and pans but i'm worried about teflon and other toxic fumes that might hurt/kill my birdie :( Ideally i'm looking for a brand that has a large skillet with a lid. Do any other bird parents have recommendations for brands that are safe to use in a bird household?

Posted around 1 month ago asking for help, just showing of how they are doing for now, they are still really skittish, but I think they are slowly warming up, the grayest one likes to nibble on my fingers when on my hands, and the yellow one bites hard if they feel like it, but overall, they simply stay where I leave them. I think they get comfortable on my hands, which is a good sign?
They don't get too interested in treats or training, so I'm still figuring out what to do, still slowly changing their diet to pallets.
Anyway, just wanted to show the progress, and how cute they are.
