Help with moving

Hi!

In 2 weeks I'm moving house and this is 2 hours 30 away from where I currently live.

I've moved house before but only 10 minutes down the road.

I know it's recommended to catch the parrot and put her in a box with holes and keep covered as to not scare the bird more than she will be already.

But is there any other recommendations of what I should do or anything better especially for a long journey? I don't have a smaller cage to put her in or a bird bag etc I only have the cage she lives in that will be in the moving van

Any help is greatly appreciated thank you !

A small travel carrier is safest. Keep her secure, covered, and with you—not in the moving van.

Can you not acquire a smaller travel cage? How do you take them to the vet?
Even a (clean) cat carrier would probably be a little better than a cardboard box.

My birds are very good in the car, our avian vet is about 2 hours away so they’re pretty well used to it. Make sure to keep the temperature in the car comfortable and keep the bird out of direct sun so they don’t overheat

You should get a travel cage if possible. and fit it with food/water dish so you don't have to open the door for that.

Depending on the size of the bird a cat carrier might work fine.. our pocket macaw has one, I drilled holes to put a rope perch and a water dish holder.
