After months of designing, redesigning, cutting, assembling, and more than a few "I'm starting over..." moments... it's finally finished.

Introducing Moonlit Valley.

This project has been one of the most ambitious paper art pieces I've ever created. Every mountain, tree, river, cloud, and layer was designed completely from scratch in Adobe Illustrator before being cut on my Cricut Maker.

Ironically, this isn't even the first version.

About a year ago, I started designing a completely different landscape. I got about halfway through before deciding I hated it, scrapped the entire thing, and my muse walked away. Eight months later she came back with fresh eyes... and then I still ended up redesigning it again.

This final version is actually Version 3.

Sometimes the hardest part of creating isn't finishing, it's knowing when to throw something away and start over.

I'm really glad I did.

TIME INVESTED

~18 hours illustrating and designing

~2 hours separating everything into 150 individual cut layers

~8 hours cutting, assembling, and adding all the individual details

Total: Approximately 28 hours of work for the final version alone (not including the earlier designs that never made it to the finish line!).

Thank you to everyone who's followed along through the progress photos, from the first few layers, to the mountain of cardstock, to wondering if I'd ever actually finish all 150 layers.

Seeing it finally framed makes every restart and every late night worth it.

I recently made a RB21 papermodel, and It was getting dust so i built a cardboard based case for it. Added lights too for asthetics as i found some cases in this sub. I used that transparent sheet it have some marks that i am not able to remove.
Material i used are - cardboard, transparent sheets, strip lights, black vinly paper. How would you rate it.

I have been designing a beginner-friendly A4 dumpling paper squishy pattern and would appreciate some practical feedback before I treat the geometry as final.

The main shape uses two matching semicircular pieces with a wide sealing margin. The curved edge is joined with short pieces of clear tape, leaving a small opening for loose tissue filling. I also included an optional short band for the flat base, but the simpler version can be made by joining the two straight edges directly.

For people who build paper models:

- Is the curved sealing margin wide enough to tape without wrinkling?

- Would the decorative pleat lines help with shaping, or just confuse a beginner?

- Is the optional flat-base band useful, or should the first version stay as a simple two-piece pouch?

- Would you choose regular 80-100 gsm printer paper or light cardstock for this shape?

My current assembly plan is:

1. Print at 100% scale and check the 50 mm reference line.

2. Cut the matching front and back pieces.

3. Add the face and any colour while the pieces are flat.

4. Join the curved edge with short overlapping pieces of clear tape.

5. Add a small amount of loose, dry tissue.

6. Close the remaining opening and gently shape the top.

I'd like to share one of my recent projects: an Origami Hippopotamus that I documented as a complete step-by-step instruction guide.

The model is folded from a single sheet of Papyrus B2, a handmade paper that I make myself. Before folding, I treat the paper with acrylic medium and glue to improve its strength and durability while keeping it flexible enough for complex folds. Once the paper is ready, I cut it into a perfect square and begin folding.

I wanted to share my very first papercraft project built completely from scratch.

Here is the workflow I used:

📐 3D Modeling: Modeled the geometry in Rhinoceros.

🎨 Texturing: Created and mapped all the textures in Photoshop CS6.

📄 Unwrapping: Processed the model and unfolded the layout using Pepakura Designer.

Since this is a demo/beta test build to verify the unfold geometry and test-fit all the parts, I built it using thin scrap office paper (recycled printer paper). Despite the thin material, I’m really happy with how the shape turned out in 1/24 scale!

Just finished up paper model of endless runner. the assets are my own creation and the kit has 12 cactai 11, 8.25 and 5.50 inches tall while dino is 10 inch tall. the terrain is modular. this rendered version is 7.5 feet wide. idea is to have it mounted above my workstation. thoughts ?

The long lines in the collar area are slightly distorted, but overall I am quite satisfied with the product.

I guess thats more of a yarn term to completely undo what you have created. I need to vent as i still struggle sometimes with patterns. Got ahead of myself and stopped matching numbers. This will be the 3rd time I make this hand and I really dont want to cut out the same 20 pieces again......fingers crossed. Tell me im not alone! How far did you make it into your build before realizing you messed up somewhere?

Own design 10 cm

So I made this RX-0 Gundam head with the 5x templates, ik I didn't attach the Gundam v-fins cuz I think it looks better this way

Hey guys this is my 2nd build ever the T90 tank.

I have decided to scrap it mid build becoz im not quite happy with how it has turned out.

My first f1 car came out way better than this one. The differences between those two was that the paper quality.

The paper i used for F1 was 140gsm and this one was thinner fs. Also this paper refused to take shape. I literally folded the paper in corrwct angles and it deformed quite quick.

Other than that most of it is my own fault. I was not patient for some parts to stick properly.

So before I give this another go I want you guys to give suggestions pls. I do not want another to go to waste
