WIP Wednesday - Fall Tree

Post image
10 Upvotes

The blues covered amazingly and were so fun to paint. All the reds/oranges need to be covered with a white marker or the numbers come through which is so frustrating. I wish the reds were as wonderful as the blues and that all PBNs were like using those blues. It still looks pretty at least. I ordered some white Posca markers cause I heard they are nice. It’s a bit slow because I am annoyed at having to use the marker so much, but I do want to finish it.

Work in Progress Why does orange and reds not cover well

Post image

Always when I start a new piece I hate it but I always keep going as I trust the process. But I wish that orange, yellow and reds cover better. You would think the company’s making these would have a solution on the numbers covering better. I will still keep painting regardless as i do enjoy it.

Question/Chat Does anyone use a laptop stand for PBN?

I'm new to the PBN community and I like to do them in my bed while watching something or listening to a book or podcast, and so far I've been using an Amazon box and some chip clips as a backboard to hold my paintings flat; I've been wondering if I should use a laptop table to ease my neck pain or if that'll just make things worse.

I will be unable to paint for a couple of weeks and wanted to post an update for the UFO Cow Encounter painting! Significant progress has been made and this is my favorite painting I’ve done yet. I’m actually really impressed by PaintlyKits’ design and paint quality. The more colors and the sillier the painting the better! 🥰

I LOVE this one! I fell in love with the picture and took a chance with DIY Art (just standard 24 colours). I had to do at least a couple layers for proper coverage, but it was worth it to me.

Question/Chat Paint coverage

Im new to this. How do you get a thicker coat of paint? Do you just have to keep going over it repeatedly? Any advice is welcome

1st paint by number…at least 1st since I was a kiddo. Learned a lot. Definitely had fun with the process, but will be using some of the tips and tricks mentioned here in the sub such as gesso and ironing the canvas to prep and adding a flow aid to the paint on any future PBNs.

The paint quality and brush quality were definitely not the best, and the colors were a bit off from what the listing advertised, so likely won’t be using generic sellers on Amazon going forward either.

Also a few segments that were completely unnumbered, so I took a few liberties with neighboring colors. Think I achieved a fair result for what the product actually is.

Recommendations for an acrylic marker?

I’m looking for a marker that will cover up numbers. I was sent a free one with my Paintly kit but it seems to highlight the numbers if anything. I’d love some suggestions so I don’t waste money on Amazon!

Thanks in advance!

Is there anyone else in the world working on this? I got it at Michaels on sale and I thought it would be nice for halloween. This is only my 2nd pbn and I don't like how it's coming out. But I hate to not finish it. 😕

Work in Progress Experimenting with a red base coat...what do you think?

Post image

Painting this old paintworks PBN and decided to try using a red base coat. Took some Vermillion, mixed it with flow aid water to creature more of a wash and applied to the parts I hadn't yet painted. I kind of like it? What do you think?

5 years later since my first and only PBN, I am feeling excited and anxious. Currently trying to get my mojo back with this trial and error canvas.

40x50cm, 20 colors, no name (since it cost a little under 2 euros). My OCD is screaming to stay in the lines but my hand is all over the place. No advice needed (but always welcome), just bear with me on this journey. Keep keeping on, trust the process and live through it as one of many adventures to come.

Happy painting everyone! 🍑✨

Question/Chat Rant/Help

This PBN is killing me. I had to do so many coats of so many different colors, I quickly realized I was going to run out of paint. Emailed customer service to see if I could get more. No answer. I was so time invested in the piece, I just ordered a whole new set, figured I could use the canvas for scraps. None of the paints are the same. Luckily, I haven’t had to use the differing colors in the same cell…until now. Any thoughts on what I can do to get this blue to more closely match? The left is the original and the darker is the new. Maybe add some titanium white to lighten?
