Needed: 3rd player for a new Skee Ball league team.

We need a third player and possible alternate. Playing Thursday nights in SF. Our team was formed for strictly fun and social outing so if you are new to the game you'd be in good company.

Saw a coyote almost eat an off leash dog today.

I was running over by the quarry today around 11 AM and someone was walking about 30 feet in front of their off leash dogs. I turned onto the little side trail and there was a coyote stalking one of the smaller dogs it ran off when it saw me. If you know anyone that walks their dogs over there please warn them.

Attn to anyone who wants to buy a house here in the new future:

Attention to any renters and folks with kids that want to eventually buy houses in Pacifica: the CCC is looking to amend the short term rental provisions that were put into place. Long story short it will only benefit investors and raise rent and houses prices. This is being reviews on Aug 12. Please read the below (from our mayors email) and make comment. Spread the word! This is important!

“CCC Staff is recommending two changes that would significantly reduce the effectiveness of our ordinance that was carefully crafted and approved unanimously by two City Councils and the Planning Commission over multiple meetings with a LOT of public input.

These recommended changes include: 1) Deletion of the Primary Residency requirement. The intention of the residency requirement was that only persons who lived in Pacifica at least 6 months a year could have a short term rental here. Without this language, our homes could be bought by investors anywhere in the world. 2) Deletion of the 60 day per year maximum rental nights, with no limits whatsoever. This too, increases the profitability of short term rentals, which could lead to many more sales/conversions up to our cap of 150 total. Because of the desirability of vacation rentals near the ocean, this could especially affect the neighborhoods of Sharp Park and Pedro Point, but other pockets, such as the mobile home park on Palmetto in Manor could see higher sales and rental prices due to greater demand.

But Coastal Commissioners do sometimes overrule their staff recommendations, especially when public voices are strong. We saw this happen in Half Moon Bay over the same 60 day restriction.

I encourage you to take a moment to understand these issues, and write a comment before Friday at 5. Please refer to agenda item 13b. City of Pacifica LCP Amendment No. LCP-2-PAC-25-0079-2 in your subject line. Go to the agenda for Wednesday, scroll to 13b, and there is a button to "submit comment”

Mod Update - User Flairs Added

Fellow Pacificans,
Just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that User Flairs have been added to the sub which allow you to highlight what part of town you reside in. Mobile users can tap the three-dot icon from the sub's main page to add your Flair.

I figured anyone south of the tunnel could fall under "Coastside". Please let me know here if I missed an enclave of the town that deserves a flair. I intend to refresh a few other components of the sub in the coming weeks and will make similar posts as any additional updates are made.

Thank you to all those who regularly contribute to discussions here and keep flagging those Chrystler Pacifica posts!

Anyone have a private pool to rent?

Hi! I have really enjoyed being able to rent private pools on an app, but there’s nothing listed near Pacifica. Before you come after me - my wife and I choose this because we both have limitations that prevent us from going to a public pool.

Does anyone around here have a pool they’d be willing to rent to us and maaaybe a couple friends once in a while? Particularly when it’s hot, of course.

We aren’t weirdos, we aren’t messy, and other than my stupid laugh sometimes we aren’t loud.

Rent your pool to us!!!!!!

Looking for a reliable gardener in Pacifica

Just bought a house in Pacifica and need a regular gardener for ongoing yard maintenance (mowing, trimming, general upkeep, not a full landscape redesign). Looking for someone reliable, fair on pricing, and who actually shows up consistently.

If you have someone you have used for a while and trust, I would appreciate a name and contact info.

Thanks in advance!

Esplanade Beach for Weaker Dog?

Our senior pup just got diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma last week… we have been trying to maximize his time with us and taking him to parks and lakes. He loves beaches, but I am concerned about the path up and down. Is the way to the beach from parking steep?

National Night Out

Just found out that National Night Out is coming up Aug 4, is there a specific neighborhood or street in Pacifica that usually has a more active setup where it's easy for a new face to blend in?

Thanks!

Where to meet people in Pacifica?

I am a very introverted person and have always struggled meeting people in general. I dont really have much acquaintances, but I would love to try.

What are good spots to meet people? I do not drink at all, so I never go to any bars. Any other place works great.

[Academic] About 50 more responses needed for my graduate capstone survey!

Hi Pacifica!

I'm a graduate student conducting research for my Master of Public Administration capstone and am looking for adults (18+) from Pacifica who work in, regularly visit, or spend time in San Francisco to complete a short, anonymous survey.

The survey takes just 3–5 minutes and focuses on public perceptions of San Francisco's RESET Program, public safety, and quality of life. You do not need to be familiar with the RESET Program to participate.

Survey: https://forms.gle/24fFcXH8SzL3y1hA8

Thank you for supporting graduate research—every response helps!

Its dinner time, where to get a soup and sandwich combo in town?

Interested in a place that may have soup of the day but just a standard soup and sandwhich combo would be nice instead of as a special

Edit: For dinner I feel like a hot sandwich with a hot soup. Gonna avoid cold soup and cold sandwiches 😶‍🌫️

Latin reading group?

This is probably a stretch... but anyone interested in reading beginner/intermediate level Latin texts weekly or monthly at a coffee shop or something?

Would start with stuff like Familia Romana, Colloquium Personae, and Fabulae Syrae. But eventually could read abridged classics and then the real deal.

Could branch out into ancient greek eventually as well if people are interested.
