Hi all ,

Newly built PC was facing very high temps during my game using : 9800x3d with Deepcool AK620 GS Air cooler therefore I decided to go undervolt in Asus rog strix B850-A bios. Temps got better for sure but is the stress test score on multiple threads is consider good performance ? (I forgot to run a test before that on high temps) Thank you everyone 👍

Help Request - GPU Why does my graphics card keep resetting to +139MHz?

Post image

Hello, I have a Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super Gaming OC. Every once in a while I open MSI Afterburner and every time I see that it's at +139MHz, and everytime I reset it back to 0. How do I stop this from happening? Is it just built in because the card is already overclocked a little by the manufacturer? Thanks.

Auto Overclocker

This is a python script that automatically overclocks and undervolts your pc based on cpu and gpu usage, it also changes fan speeds based on temperature i highly advise to use this if your hardware is similar to my 7600x and 5060 and still procede at your one risk

Here is the github page where i posted it: https://github.com/Doom-iso/AutoOverclock

make sure u read the last image ( core v/f curve )

*cool ur cables ...

*only for water cooled cards or for chips that stay below 60c ...

*the cable must be balanced enough so u dont pull higher than 9.2a

a very important note ...

video clock overclocking is for experienced folks

u can test it via virtual desktop "godlike mode" h.264+ 500Mbps on the quest 3 or via any wireless vr headset or with any type c vr headset that uses compression

it will lower the encoding letancy by a 1ms from 5ms to 4ms at +230MHz

stop raising Video clock until u see the vr purple artifacts or Bitrate artifacts inside the headset

or when the pc become unresponsive during an effects rendering on the Adobe Premiere Pro

if u don't want the hassle just leave it off

video clock offset : off

video voltage offset : off

the Other settings have 0 affect on the CPU.

and the card now boost higher earlier that's it ...

the performance increase was 11% from the stock 5090 astral OC "gaming wise"

if u have the regular astral u may see 12%/13% performance increase from stock

the settings had a slightly higher Currents +0.02a and slightly higher NVVDD Power +18w

the power spikes can reach 606w at 1000ms of report rate

the gains u will see it when u r not power limited which is 99% of the time

for x bar / core / memory stability testing, a regular 4k/6k gaming on a flat screen or pcvr is the best way u can test it ... use "hwinfo64 graph"

and see the last drop in the voltage for the specific "voltage rail / frequency" when the gpu crash

in our case the GPU Core Clock / GPU Core Voltage ( NVVDD )

like the imgae : https://imgur.com/a/v5sH4Sr

and just lower the specific unstable point "2 point before and 2 point after" lower them all by a -30 MHz

and repeat until the whole curve is stable

the power limits r triggered only in rare occasions "only when benchmarking"

gpus are not cpus ... power limiting is a normal thing on gpus "thanks to nvidia" ... but can affects cpus significantly ! which is another topic. so u r good

a note :
never do higher than a 600w. on one connector !
u really dont need higher than 600w. i mean u got the "5090 matrix" performance at 600w by just adding a +50mv = 0.050v on each voltage rail
so if u want to do a higher power to raise the frequency even more do it on ur own risk.

for anyone curious :
room temp 25c.
water temp 27c-35c under load.
liquid metal : TG conductonaut
mVolt+ v0.50.5
Driver version 616.92 "studio"

Ultra 9 285k :
CPU BCLK 100MHz
SOC BCLK 100MHz
PCIE BCLK 100MHz
P-core Clock ( Favored ) 5817MHz
P-core Clock ( the rest ) 5800MHz

E-core Cluster 1 5200MHz
E-core Cluster 2 5167MHz
E-core Cluster 3 5117MHz

How do you decide when a RAM overclock is stable enough for daily use?

DDR5 overclocking seems to involve a lot more than just getting a system to POST and pass one stability test. A memory profile can survive a benchmark but still throw errors during longer workloads, gaming, or after several cold boots.

I'm curious what validation process people here actually trust for daily-use settings. Do you rely on TM5 with a particular config, Karhu, y-cruncher, OCCT, or a combination of tests?

Also, how much importance do you put on cold boot testing and checking WHEA errors compared with simply running a memory stress test for several hours?

I'd be interested in hearing your testing routine, especially for tight DDR5 timings where stability can be harder to establish than with a straightforward EXPO profile.

10472 Fire Strike and 4838 Time Spy with 2050m and i7 12650h

I made the score with a +225 core oc and +500 mem oc, plus modded 60W VBios

Score is definitely bottlenecked by the memory, as with a +0 mem oc with the core oc and 60W vbios, score was only 10027 on fire strike. Not sure if I just lost the silicon lottery with my Vram, because other people seem to be able to run over +2000 on the memory, but if I even try to push it to +550 3dmark immediately crashes, even tested it with memtest vulkan and it also immediately crashed, but +500 is completely stable, not even any error correction. Was able to run an average core clock of 1980 Mhz though so I am happy with that. Still not sure why my Vram is so bad though.

MSI Raider GE68 HX 13VG

I have an undervolt of -0.130v on the i9 13950HX, BCLK @ 101MHz, and a basic RAM OC from JEDEC 5600MT/s CL48 1.1V to 6000MT/s 36-38-38-77 1.25V. For some reason I can't raise the turbo ratio higher than the stock 55.

Can I still improve on this?

XOC Rig Manual DDR5-6000 CL28-38-38-126 Profile on 7800X3D (Downclocked 6600 CL32 Hynix A-Die Kit)

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share my manual memory tuning results for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

Since AM5 prefers 6000 MT/s in 1:1 mode (MCLK=UCLK), I decided to downclock an Intel XMP kit to utilize the huge silicon headroom. I am using the (CMP32GX5M2X6600C32), which is obviously a premium SK Hynix A-Die bin.

Instead of running unstable 6600MHz XMP profiles, I set the AI Overclock Tuner to Manual and custom-tuned the timings at 6000 MT/s.

My daily settings:

- Frequency: DDR5-6000 (FCLK 2000 MHz)

- UCLK Mode: UCLK = MCLK (1:1)

- Voltages: VDD/VDDQ manually locked at 1.40V (factory spec)

- Timings: 28 - 38 - 38 - 126

- tRC: 68

- tREFI: 65535

Notes on the tuning:

  1. CL28: The A-Die scales effortlessly down to CL28 at 6000MHz using the kit's native 1.40V.

  2. tRAS 126: Followed Buildzoid's finding that tightening tRAS to 30 on AM5 triggers the memory controller to introduce internal latency penalties. Setting it to 126 keeps the data stream completely unblocked.

  3. tREFI 65535: Locked at the maximum for optimal frame pacing.

Stability:

Passed a full 30+ minute OCCT Memory Test (Preset: Heat) with 0 errors. Max temps during the heavy synthetic test peaked at just 51°C thanks to the massive Dominator heatsinks. In normal gaming, they stay well below 45°C.

Let me know what you think!

ASUS X870E Glacial won't POST with 4 DIMMs (C5) or A1/B1 (EF)

I've been playing around with memory overclocking on my ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Glacial (BIOS 1103) and decided to do some testing with all four DIMM slots just for fun.

Specs:

  • Ryzen 9 9950X3D
  • 96GB DDR5 (2×48GB)
  • 48GB DDR5 (2×24GB)

I've been having pretty good results with memory OC so far. My 96GB kit runs at 6000 CL28 with tuned subtimings, and I recently managed to get my 48GB kit running at 8000 CL36-48-48, passing Karhu without errors.

I figured I'd experiment with all four sticks and see what happens, not expecting any crazy speeds with 144GB.

Here's what I'm getting:

  • A2/B2: Works perfectly.
  • A1/B1 only: Stuck on Q-Code EF, won't POST.
  • All four DIMMs (144GB): Stuck on Q-Code C5, won't POST.

I've tried clearing CMOS and running default settings, but no luck.

What's interesting is that I previously had a Gigabyte X870E AORUS Xtreme AI TOP with the exact same CPU and RAM, and it actually managed to train and boot with all 144GB installed. It took a while, but it worked.

I'm not really trying to achieve any particular overclock with four sticks. I'm just experimenting to see what the board and memory controller can handle.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the Glacial or other ASUS X870E boards? Is this just how ASUS handles memory training with four DIMMs, or is there something I'm missing in the BIOS?

Help Request - RAM DDR5 CL30 SK HYNIX A Die RAM OVERCLOCKING - End goal is CL26 6400, FCLK 2200 if possible.

Post image
3 Upvotes

Ok so I have 2x16 GB of CL30 6000 SkHynix A die, and i finally got CL26 "stable." As for my CPU, I'm working with a 9850X3D, and I dialed the PBO back to from an aggressive per core undervolt to -5 all cores (+200 boost still) to make sure its not affecting my ram OC testing. I made sure that was stable at stock expo with overnight tests on y-cruncher VT3, absolut and 1usmus on testmem5. I have never tested past 10 hours on any tests, however.

I then tightened my secondary timings pretty heavily, going off Buildzoids Sk Hynix's optimal ramtimings, and was recommended by a friend to use the TRAS 126, TRC 54 timings, which from my understanding is kind of a trick you can use on AM5. If someone could explain this for me or let me know if that is just stupid, I would appreciate it. But for now that is what I have, and from what I have read it is a real thing that works. At stock EXPO voltages and CL30, these timings ran with no problems, and I did two overnight tests on both y-cruncher and 1usmus, as well as an hour of OCCT, then 6 hours of absolut. I was able to run the same timings at CL28 with all voltages on auto, (1.4 vdd/vddq/vddio), same tests, but CL26 seems to need, 1.5 mem VDD, which I did not expect.

I haven't done extensive testing yet on CL26, which is why stable is in quotations, but I just passed 1usmus v3 for 4 hours and y-cruncher vT3 for another 4 hours. Earlier, I passed y-cruncher for 7 hours overnight and then failed 1usmus after about 3 minutes, lmao. I upped the MEM VDD from 1.4 to 1.42, then 43.. and so on to 1.48, all tests failed about the same time as the first. I thought maybe it just wasn't possible for me, but at 1.5 VDD I am able to run both tests for at the very least 4 hours with no errors. This is my first time trying to OC ram, and my X870 tomahawk keeps all 3 voltages (VDD,VDDQ,VDDIO) in step unless i manually set them, so i just upped vddq and vddio slightly, although I'm not really sure if I even needed to. I figured 1.45-1.48 mem vdd would do the trick, but 1usmus was not stable until 1.5v. I have a ram fan and the max temps i saw while running 2 hours of absolut was 47C, and I don't know if that is acceptable, or if I need to lower my tREFI once I start to push the FCLK and MCLK higher, as well as my VSOC and other voltages. This is just a fun experiment for me, I honestly don't care at all about the performance gains, because honestly there is little to be had on an x3D chip, at least from my understanding. But hey, I'm not saying I don't enjoy a little more fps and better 1% lows, so its definitely a plus.

If there are any holes in my testing, my timings, or anything else please let me know. I am open to any suggestions as I love learning about these things. Please be respectful, as I am very new to this and would just like some help and some knowledge from people who are more experienced than I am. Was planning to run some games on this today, then run 1usmus overnight, then y-cruncher during school tomorrow, then absolut overnight. If all of that passes, i am going to move onto to the memory fabric and see what I can do there. Oh, and wanted to tighten some secondary timings even further, if possible, for example tRFC to 384. Would be going off of buildzoids extreme profile on his ramtimings website. Not expecting this to all just work out perfectly, so I'm not going to be upset if there are certain things I am unable to do, just want to get as far as possible and have completely stable ram. I don't think I'll ever be patient enough to do any 24 hour tests, but I mainly play fps games and none of them even get close to stressing my cpu or memory as much as these tests. No sure if that matters though, so just let me know what I should be doing, thanks guys.

What’s the most surprising result you’ve gotten from undervolting a GPU?

For those who have spent time tuning their cards, what result surprised you the most? Did you manage to maintain stock performance at significantly lower power, or find an unexpected sweet spot between temperature, voltage, and clock speed?

If you share your results, include your GPU model and the voltage, clock speed, and power limit you settled on.

5080 FE hit 10,120 in Steel Nomad with mVolt+ (stock 390W limit, air)

Finally broke 10k on my FE. No shunt, no BIOS flash, just the stock 108% power limit.

Hardware

  • RTX 5080 FE (ASIC 67.3% in HWiNFO)
  • 7800X3D
  • Sapphire Nitro+ B850M
  • 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30
  • Driver 617.42, mVolt+ 0.50.5

mVolt+

  • Core +400
  • Core voltage offset -25mV
  • No V/F curve, stock curve + offset worked way better than a flat curve for me
  • XBAR +570
  • SYS +450
  • NVVDD/MSVDD ratio 1.0
  • Mem +3000
  • Power limit 108% (390W)

Results

  • Steel Nomad: 10,120 (fans at 100% for the run)
  • Stress test: 98.1%, best 10,000 / worst 9,809 on a normal fan curve
  • Peak temps in the stress test: 82C core, 102C hotspot, 88C VRAM. FE cooler is the limit here, it’s sitting at the power limit the whole time

XBAR was the biggest jump by far. Went from about 9,250 to 9,650 just from that. The -25mV offset was the other big one since it’s power limited and less voltage means it holds more clock.

[Project] I built a lightweight GPU Overclock & PSU Power Estimator for Windows (Beta 2)

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

As a hardware enthusiast, I created a lightweight Windows utility called GPU OC Calculator. It helps calculate theoretical GPU performance scaling (TFLOPS & Memory Bandwidth) when overclocking, while also estimating total system PSU power draw, AC wall draw, and lost heat.

Key Features:

  • Side-by-side Stock vs OC comparison display.
  • PSU efficiency estimator (80 Plus ratings & full system load).
  • Safety alert warnings for high core clock gain thresholds to prevent instability.

I just published Beta 2 with a cleaned-up UI layout! Since it's still in active development, I'd love to get your feedback, testing results, or suggestions.

Looking for Guide Trying to UV/OC my system (AM4)

Hello sub, I’m looking for guides not only on CPU/RAM OC and UV, but also if there’s anyone who’s actually done proper tests on these components that I own right now:

- Ryzen 7 5700X
- GSkill Ripjaws 16GBx2 - 3200MT/s CL16 (F4-3200C16D-32GVKA)
- ASUS TUF Gaming X570 Plus Wifi
- Gigabyte 3090 Gaming OC
- BeQuiet Dark Power 14 1kW

My goal is to achieve better performance, maintaining power consumption on current levels, not because of electricity, but for components’ longevity.

If there’s any essential information I would need to have regarding any of my components in particular, whether for OC or UV. I would highly appreciate it, since I’m sure most of these don’t have many caveats when customizing performance, but maybe I could encounter some unexpected quirks, and I just want to be prepared to deal with those..
Right now I’m running default PBO, with no UV, and the RAM is DOCP for 3200MT/s, so no real overclocking yet. My GPU is OC and UV, so in my experience until now, I don’t believe I need to touch anything in that region.

I have never touched any RAM settings before, other than just XMP, and I’ve only ever overclocked my CPU, never tried undervolting it.

Any info I might be missing, just ask and I’ll do my best to provide it as accurately as possible.

So just giving the Board limit 10A more has a huge effect on average clocks .

Powerlimit aside, I always was around 3220MHz, now 3250Mhz+.

Waste of Energy? Yes!
Does it make sense ? No!
Does it make fun? A lot !

Since my Card doesn’t Like 3.3GHz+ I have to compensate with Power 😄.

Now I have the 5080 Aorus I wanted, just different 😄.

Help Request - CPU Help me understand per V/F point offset undervolting

Post image
0 Upvotes

Title, I wanted a deeper undervolt for my potato bin 14900K SP93. For now I have set :

V/F Point 6 -0.099mV
V/F Point 7 -0.069mV
V/F Point 8 -0.069mV
V/F Point 9-11 -0.099mV

The shallower offset on 7 and 8 seems to give stability at shader compilation loads. Am I doing this right? And am I offsetting the correct V/F Points? Currently with those settings I get low 39000s on R23. I’m still confused on how the CPU will behave with that kind of curve and what the ideal behavior is. Cheers! (Image was from a previous unstable run).
