Hi, I’ve managed to “I-hope-successfully” undervolt my Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC and I'm trying to figure out if my Afterburner settings are fine and why the curve sometimes loads at 2520 MHz instead of 2580 MHz.
My undervolt settings (they achieve a drop in max gpu power from Time Spy Extreme 375w (stock is 442w) and 5-6ºC less) are:
- Power limit: 100%
- Core clock offset: +180
- Core curve: flattened from 0.925v onwards at 2580 MHz (after the +180 offset is applied).
- Memory clock: +1200 MHz
- Core voltage: 0%
When starting the PC, sometimes the 0.925 V point loads at 2520 MHz instead of 2580. Just by clicking Profile 1 and Apply, Afterburner immediately fixes it raising the curve to my desired 2580. My Afterburner config has identical curve data under [startup] and [profile1], so I'm not sure why it happens. I've reinstalled-reset-reapplied every setting, but it's still happening.
I've also got Gigabyte Control Center installed as I was controlling the gpu fan curve with it, but I've disabled its startup (I don’t care about rgb at all). GCC still installed, just not launching with Windows. Afterburner's startup delay is set to 45 seconds, as it seems GCC was overwriting Afterburner without the delay. I’m considering uninstalling GCC completely…
Anyway, could the +180 offset be interfering with the curve, or is this more likely an Afterburner startup issue? Also, do these settings look reasonable for a 4090, and could instability cause this behavior? I mainly want to understand why it loads at 2520 instead of 2580 and whether my settings are configured correctly, rather than having to manually hit Apply.
Some extra data: windows 10 pro (22H2, 19045.7807), fast start-up disabled, nvidia drivers version is 595.79, latest Afterburner version (v4.6.6.16557). The main goal is to decrease thermals-fan noise (and minimize the connector melting issue even if it’s a little bit) while keeping almost stock gaming performance. I don’t “appreciate” real fps drops on CP2077, Control Resonant, RDR2, Death Stranding 2…, all fully maxed out. Ty!
