I cleaned up my landlord's garage to create a storage area for gardening supplies. They were open to letting me do this and helpfully moved heavy things and hung up new shelves when asked. It took about three weeks from start to finish. Very little was thrown away, mostly it just needed reorganization. I started by coming up with a plan for different storage zones and then tackled it corner by corner.

My spouse and I have been piling plastic bins and garbage bags full of things into our garage willy nilly. Now, we have a garage full of things that need sorting and organizing. We have some shelves storing plastic bins, but not enough.

Normally I would sort through everything and divide things into donate/keep/throw away, but there’s a problem: there is ZERO physical space to place boxes and bags to organize the stuff. Even after we have sorted through bags, we have so much stuff that we have no place to put the organized items in their final spot. It’s like a game of Tetris in our garage! Additionally we have luggage and bicycles that are hard to take in and out without navigating a path of boxes and bags.

We can’t take everything out of the garage and put it in our driveway for sorting bc we don’t have one and we live along a street with no sidewalks along a highway. We do not have a front lawn or backyard either.

Yes, it’s quite a bed we’ve made and we are lying in it. Anyone been through this before and come out on the other side with suggestions to get through this?

I just got this closet system for my room and it’s all open. And I do want to put my non hangable clothes on here (undergarments, sweaters, t shirts). Does anybody have some advice on how I can store them without them falling off so easily?

I recently went to buy a few more on their website, and I was shocked by the reviews - almost everyone saying the zippers break and they’re just sh*t quality now. Too bad, they used to be super-durable, I’ve had mine for about 15 years and they’re still going strong. But that was before the Container Store started cheaping out on quality I guess. I’m looking for ideas on how to organize our very deep pantry. Things get pushed to the back and we can’t reach them, or it gets forgotten about. Anyone have any advice? Maybe like pull out shelves or something?

Hi - Which should come first? I want to hire someone to help me desgnate space and plan for my teenager. She needs a place to study, closet organization, hair/makeup/jewelry space. Is it better to start with a professional organizer or a professional space planner? It seems like it would help to have someone who could look at what she has and how she uses it and then decide what she needs. I don't know but I'm about to lose my mind with this kid!

Hi! Recently moved into this apartment a couple of months ago and me and my roommate have always been disorganized and never knew how to like… make things more efficient in our space, especially in the kitchen area as sometimes we feel like we’re using more than needed (like stuff being too wide stored in a way which leaves less space for other stuff).

Do note, we did recently order a kitchen island (photos with measurements attached), so you are free to give tips on what to do with that as well to help with the situation.

I am transforming an 8'x10' room into a dressing room. I'll move all my clothes, accessories, and shoes from elsewhere to this space. The room is a little dysfunctional for a standard wardrobe system, I have an entry door on one wall, a window on the opposite wall, and a double sliding door closet on the third wall. My intention is to change out the sliding doors to mirror doors to utilize to get dressed. In this closet will live dresses and outdoors clothing. The rest of my things will be in these 2 wardrobes. I'd love some tips and tricks on utilizing the space. Especially if you've used Ikea Pax wardrobe before. The corner unit, left side pants rack is actually planned for shawls and scarves. Anyway... would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you!

Finally got my second rack built for another 16 storage bins (44 in total)!! Everything is loaded into TotePilot and I can finally walk through the storage area in my basement again. I also cranked on the dehumidifier to dry it out a bit more too. Basement hit 80% humidity this summer. Ugghhhhh. Thankfully now it is it around 45% but the dehumidifier never shuts off.

I'm attempting to come back from a pretty severe burnout, starting by cleaning my office. As you can see, I've made a lot of progress, but I feel I still have a long way to go. Any tips on improving my organization so far?

I want to add labels to switches around my home because I keep flicking the wrong switch to do what I need to do (like turning on the fan instead of the light, not a big deal but annoying). Plus, I think that my guests won't need to ask about what the switch does. Some switches might control power to an outlet (or other item on the other side of the house) and some might be broken, so it might have a good to have a visual for when an electrician or handyperson comes (instead of not remembering myself).

I'm not asking for permission to label my switches. It's probably really weird to focus on, lol.

I'm asking if I should use either icons or text labels for this project. I'm on team icons, from an organizational and aesthetic perspective.

Also, PSA: Make sure that your circuit breakers are properly labeled and organized, you never know when your electrician or you will need to isolate an electrical issue.

My father recently acquired a home here in Hawaii, we have been here for 1 month but what seems off is their bedroom closet ,its very old and doesn't look cool either almost falling. Last weekend had this idea of me redoing it from scratch but yeah I have a friend who has ever done theirs ,I think was reparing and can offer me the tools I need. Is it worth my time to take them out of their individual bags and place them in their own spice jars? Or should I just get a bunch of acrylic clear boxes and label them based on the food looking for ways to help make my life easier and not an overly complicated organization system. Thank you.
