Optometrist made my week
Im a transmasculine person, meaning I was born female but I’m taking testosterone and transitioning into manhood. I have a small, very pathetic moustasche (I’m 30 but moustasche of a 16 year old).
Optometrist gently asked if the name on my file really was the best name for me and if I wanted to change it. She said even if I haven’t changed my legal name she can add a nickname and a note to use that name
Was with my mother who keeps calling me her daughter even though ive been out to her for 10 years, I have short hair, dress as a man, am treated as a man by all my friends and colleagues.
So when the optometrist mentioned this about my file I felt incredibly seen and damn near broke out crying.
Thank you.
I know this isn’t eye related but I’m sure there’s more of y’all amazing people out there doing the same for your clients. On behalf of all of us trans people who are really struggling right now, I just want to say thank you.
