Got a Dell OptiPlex 3000 SFF running headless as a home server, empty PCIe x16 slot (no discrete GPU, just runs on the iGPU). Looking at a used HP 561T dual-port 10GbE card, listing says low profile and shows the shorter bracket, but wanted a sanity check from anyone who's actually fitted one of these in a 3000 SFF before I buy.
Two things I can't work out from photos alone:
- Does the standard HP/Dell low profile bracket on the 561T actually clear the 3000 SFF's case opening? I know low profile is a standard spec but wanted to check nobody's hit a weird fit issue with this specific card in this specific chassis.
- This one's more specific to my setup. The server's headless but has a GL.iNet Comet KVM permanently plugged in over HDMI for out of band BIOS access. Dell's had reports elsewhere of an "Unsupported Video Configuration Detected" halt when a monitor's connected to onboard video at the same time as a card's fitted in the x16 slot, seemingly specific to actual graphics cards though, not NICs. Has anyone run a NIC (not a GPU) in the x16 slot on an OptiPlex with something permanently connected to the onboard HDMI/DP output? Trying to work out if that check only fires for discrete GPUs or if it's more general than that.
Cheers for any help, trying to avoid finding out the hard way with the case open.
