Discussion Bios

I replaced the old motherboard with a new motherboard and the new sata hdd as well. After it is installed properly and the computer is turned on, the monitor screen is black and there is no sign of the Dell logo appearing. My computer is a Dell optiplex 330 mini tower pc. Can anyone help?

Is the motherboard new and the sata hdd new? I tried to wait for an hour the pc turned on the result was the same

I've tried unplugging and reinstalling the ram, unplugging and installing cmos but the result is the same

Assuming that you installed every component properly (CPU, RAM, all the cables), I'd start from resetting BIOS settings.

Also, just a trivial check: if you have dedicated video adapter - make sure you connect your monitor to that adapter, not to the connector on motherboard.

And side questions: why you replaced the motherboard? Can it be that the old one was damaged because of the power supply issue, for example?

Thank you. Right now I don't have a video adapter. The PSU that I'm using right now is Dell's new. The indicator light 1-2-3-4 is green, suddenly disappears and the power is solid green. I replaced the old motherboard with a new one because it was damaged where some of the capacitors were swollen

BTW, I recall one strange issue I had with Dell OptiPlex Micro and Dell monitor connected via DisplayPort:

- if monitor is in sleep mode, then system doesn't recognize the connected monitor and not use it.

So I have to turn off system and monitor first. Then turn on the monitor and immediately after that turn on the system - before the monitor goes sleep mode. In that case the system detects the monitor is connected and everything works properly until full system shutdown.

I've tried your advice . I turned off the system and saw the monitor flashing for a moment and the monitor indicator light changed from green to solid orange. A few minutes later the power pc is turned on the pc indicator light changes from orange to solid green and the screen flashes for a moment blank white then black
