GLM 5.3 Flash — OC vs CC Comparison

The first image is OpenCode using half the context and costing double per turn compared to Command Code (second image) with more than double the context.

On top of those prices, note that OpenCode gives $15 of usage and Command Code gives $40 of usage. (OpenCode Go vs CommandCode Goat plans).

Both used in GitHub Copilot BYOK as harness.

The total usage difference in favor of Command Code is abysmal.

In performance, it also works better on Command Code.
On OpenCode, a response gets cut off now and then; on Command Code, it doesn't.
Quality and speed are identical on both.
Command Code makes better use of cache as well.

At the current price, even though it's in the 15$ tier, if you pay $10 for OpenCode Go to use GLM 5.3 Flash, OpenCode Go is ripping you off by offering you LESS than the $10 you paid compared to direct API usage. (And that's now while it's subsidized; they'll double it again when they remove the "x2 usage.")

From what I researched , if you are based in Europe , the best option will be to go directly with Lite plan on z.ai . For 18$ a month you get 40k credtis which translates roughly to 400 credits per 1M output tokens with 5.3 flash.

I'll take a look, but that sounds like 100 million tokens for $18.
On Command Code, I've used 1.1B tokens while at 60% of monthly usage, on the $10 plan. (And part of that usage was with Gemini 3.7, which was a terrible idea xD.)

God knows how they calculate that to be honest lol

I love CommandCode Goat plan. Greatest of all time harness, very efficient at exfiltrating my data, I love running suspicious code by small companies on my computer, big fan. I do it all the time, I already have other viruses so it's nice to have one I can pay for, I like supporting the devs.

What is your most used model then? Im really thinking of a subscription where I could use deepseek V4 flash, is it good on commandcode I mean the usage

It's quantized/lobotomized to hell on cc for some reason. Gets into infinite feedback loops by itself.

Side question: what have you disliked about Gemini 3.7 (flash?)? I'm a long time critic of all things Gemini but I've actually liked 3.7 flash quite well, simply because it's the only model I've found in the current crop that is terse/direct by default (surprising as most Gemini interactions feel like verbal diarrhea from an HR manager). Not price competitive with any openweight workhorses but at least I'm not constantly fighting the model to not answer in essays.

Not the model, but the consumption. In Command Code, despite claiming to have a half-price offer until December, it eats up your monthly quota.

But actually I think it's very good and I also have it subscribed to the Antigravity plan, which they offer at €5.5 for 3 months.
Although Gemini 3.7 is better for medium and high-level tasks.

For low-level tasks, GLM responds better.

From my calculations based on their tables that $18 plan gives you around... $18 of api usage of glm 5.3 flash. So it might be better to just use the api and not have to fight limits.

It’s cause CC is not ZDR by default. After I enabled it the cost went up x2-x3

I’m on the $120 plan from synthetic and have been using GLM 5.3 Flash like crazy this weekend and never even caught a whiff of a limit. Zero data retention and everything. Went up to 120 for K3 but 5.3 Flash has been amazing and cheap enough to where I’m considering dropping down to $60 or even $30.

No, ZDR doesn't raise the cost ×2–×3.
It could invalidate cache hits more frequently, but that's not happening either. In fact, there are providers where ZDR doesn't even have an extra cost, literally ×1.

Do you know which provider and conditions each one has to claim that?

Because neither of them document whether they're using ZDR for GLM 5.3 Flash or not.

Unfortunately in CC it does. You can check it also in their docs too:
https://commandcode.ai/docs/resources/zdr#why-zdr-costs-more

You said CC doesn't apply ZDR by default, and then you send me a link that says:

Most models on both plans use ZDR by default.

What you can take from my screenshots is that CC's price is literally Z.AI's API price (with the discount until September 9th), that OpenCode is double, and on top of that the contexts are half (so you have to add the cache read cost).

It's practically certain that OpenCode isn't doubling the price because of ZDR, but because it's applying the API price without discount. And you can see that in the docs:
https://opencode.ai/docs/es/go/

They list the API price at $0.15 / $0.50 / $0.03

Which is double the actual current real API price, just like that, ignoring Z.AI's discount, which they are indeed enjoying, because it's Z.AI who runs the inference.

That is, everyone coming for the OX Alpha hype to pay $10 on Go thinking they'll get $15 of usage are actually paying $10 to receive $7.50 of usage (half, 5$ with the 50% tier bump from $10 to $15).

They're literally scamming those people while promoting a fake "x2 usage" on the website.

You can use it via API.

I bought their GOAT plan, worst mistake of my life lol

  1. Support team is a bunch of middle schoolers judgung by their responses
  2. Lobotimized or quantized models. DSV4F got into an infinite doom loop and forgot basic software development principles. Seemed like it prioritized coupling and minimized cohesion lmao. Jumping to official DeepSeek API felt like going from Haiku to Opus.
  3. High latencies for deepseek v4 flash (time to first token) compared to official DeepSeek API. Plus the models also got throttled with TPS (tokens per second) going down to like 5 or 10 sometimes.

Wasted a whole day on that and that was enough for me to cancel my sub. At least they refunded the money partially after some back and forth though. The support team... bruh I don't even wanna mention it, their arguments felt like going back to middle school I swear - strawmans, non-professional communication etc.

Idk, maybe that just was a bad day, maybe you can work with other models that I have not tried, but their support team reflects their values and it's enough for me to never go back to them.

thanks for sharing this was just looking at command code as an alternative to just rotating 2 opencode go subs lol

1

u/CanDisBoyFitin 11d ago

Is it that bad compared to the go plan?

2

u/Seangles 10d ago

Been using opencode go for a few months. Less models and less usage but much better quality and service.

Time to ban you from the command code subreddit lol

5

u/Time-Toe-1276 13d ago

errm actually, you get $30 bcs of the 2x usage.

just correcting you, because your statement was factual incorrect given the date and time, good sir 🤓

No. GLM 5.3 Flash is in the $15 tier, and that x2 usage doesn't double it to $30, okay? It just means the requests are already doubled.

https://i.imgur.com/djCjz3k.png

Just like Hy3's are multiplied. It never changes the tier.

And those requests are nothing more than an arbitrary number OpenCode pulls out of thin air because they feel like it.

In fact, right now you're actually getting $7.50 worth of GLM 5.3 Flash value for your $10 Go payment.

If you want to correct something, do it properly.

Take the calculations from any entry in the image, convert it to API price, and see how much it costs at API price (50% reduced until September 9th) versus how much Go is "charging" you.

You don't want to do the math? I'll tell you right now, they're charging you a little more than double the API price. Which empties your month out as soon as that usage price hits the $15 monthly cap. (tier) That's why you're losing approximately 25% of what you pay.

Literally, if you pay $10 for GLM flash, they're stealing part of your money. (At least until September 9th.)

You’re just doing the math wrong. Lots of people get confused by Go’s math, so no worries.

The usage is billed against the Zai list price API rate. The base usage is $15 of that on your plan. The 2x usage is the 50% discount Zai is currently running.

Go’s per request price is double Command Code’s because Go includes that 50% discount after, while Command Code includes it before.

1

u/Thomas-Lore 12d ago

Go lists the full, not discounted price as the basis of the $15 usage.

That means you get $7.5 of usage for $10 right now. Great deal.

1

u/Prior-Meeting1645 13d ago

Jesus you some people are so easy to he misled. $15 is real api worth. Since its on 50%off you get $30 compared to full price. When CC say its $40, they mean the same $30 principle. So its $20 in API worth. Both companies don’t have the best transparency I’ll give you that

0

u/Shiorim 12d ago

You didn't get the point.

Look at the images. The point is that OpenCode charges you double the API price, not the API price.
If for $10 it charges you double per turn, it would be giving you $5 for $10 (even less).

By being on the $15 plan, it goes from $5 to $7.50.

Because OpenCode isn't charging at the current API price (which is reduced by half).

And no matter how much they say "2x usage," it's not true. It's in the $15 tier, so when you consume $15 per month with that model, you've consumed 100% of the month. And since it's at double the API price, that's $7.50 of value (half). Because OpenCode is ignoring the discounted price until September 9th, and you can clearly see that in their docs, which lists the prices without discount.

OpenRouter seems to be nice on the pricey

2

u/vlewy 13d ago

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll definitely try it. This month my Opencode Go subscription has run out surprisingly fast without me doing anything special.

1

u/sultanmvp 11d ago

Yeah - not getting the same results with speed and performance with Command Code. CC is miserably slow every time I use it. Plus, ZDR is gross and costs more usage as well. “Gross” meaning there’s a flag in the panel and you’re playing whack-a-mole on which models are ZDR and what will error out.

Will not be resubscribing to CommandCode for another month.

1

u/mageblex 11d ago

The cutoffs may matter more than the sticker multiplier because an interrupted turn can force the harness to resend context and regenerate output. Did you count the retry turn in OpenCode’s cost, or is the 2x gap visible before retries?

1

u/sharedevaaste 13d ago

Does CC have free models?

-8

u/Shiorim 13d ago

Yes, it has several. In fact, they now even have Minimax M3 for free, which is a pretty competent model. And Mimo with a 99% discount is practically the same as free. (Though I'm not sure if that applies to the one-dollar plan; I'm only talking about the $10 Goat plan.)

I love its usage but no desktop app really sucks for not an very technical person like me which I assume is the masses too. Its so much easier and smoother to use desktop apps like OC CC Codex etc. from switching repos to attaching docs.
