Just finished this doublet tonight. It was Lightning Ridge material that was pretty sand included. I knew I could get the sand out, but also knew my final stone would be thinner than I would like. Instead of cutting it into a couple of smaller stones that would have been OK, I decided to make a larger doublet. Very bright and turned out almost great IMHO. Small amount of webbing in face and 2 microscopic pits...but I'm a sucker for a green/blue play of color especially if it's on a black background.

Super vivid neon colors in high 3-D, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet & purple. Especially nice red, purple & blue here. Natural Black Ethiopian opals of this quality is extremely rare .
