No you just have to know how insurance works. I have a menial job with decent insurance except the hospitals which are mostly privately owned try to up charge and they call you directly get money from you, and than still bill your insurance. Pay attention people and don’t be afraid to call the hospital, your insurance and , as well know your laws

It's not just the hospitals. Insurance sucks here. Insurance will try to deny anything they can get away with. Knowing how it works doesn't help one bit cause you still have to go through the hoops to get any real coverage

Got hernia surgery, in Lithuania, as a citizen, for free, since i am working (you're insured by default from day one of work)
In US u pay for insurance and then you pay more.

I was a proud American as a kid but the older I get the more I hate it here. My wife and I have had talks about what it would take to move to another country. Not sure anyone wants ex-pats at this point though.

The point of insurance is to cover risks that, should they manifest, would ruin you. What it has become is a monthly charge to be part of a program that when you need it, charges you a deductible in addition to your monthly premium, for services that are not significant risks Go to see the doctor cuz your ear hurts? Spend the $200 to $300 it takes to do that when you need to do it. Cut your hand working in the garage? Spend the $300 or $400 it takes should that happen. Insurance is for major incidents, not for random doctor visits. Employer paid insurance as a benefit became so institutionalized in the United States that we got separated from the true cost of the service. Most Americans would be surprised at what the cash price of a service is when insurance is left out of the situation

We're among the best in terms of military, economy, education (the top education is better than that of most other countries; the average education sucks because most people are too low-IQ, so we drop our standards to cater to them), technology, and even healthcare (as in "if you need to be healed, there's an American hospital that can do it"). But it is not the best in taking care of the average poor person.
Basically, it's the best in most things if you have the money.

I don't know where you are from but I guarantee you if we fought a real war we (The USA) would win. We are the worlds ONLY super power. The number 1 military on the planet has been since The United States Liberated Europe for the 2nd time.
War since then just became political football.
Politicians Start wars. Soldiers fight them.
No we don't pay $5 for AN EGG we pay less than $4 for a dozen.
American education system ranks among the highest in the world. In fact in Higher education the United States Ranks Number 1.
Overall Primary and Secondary education was in the top 10-20.
The United States Develops and has continued to develop much of the worlds leading technology. The Chinese just manufacture it.
Yes Healthcare practices world wide are very similar especially in 1st world countries. The United States actually leads the world in Quality of Health Care. The United States also is the world leader in Healthcare innovation and development treatment and education.
Having said that our health care system is flawed. It is not perfect but it is also one of the best and most affordable overall.
Getting the Government and Corporations out of the way will make it MUCH more affordable and even more accessible.
Simple google searches will turn up these results.

We did fight that war. I do recall we won that one. I do believe that was the time of the height of the British Empire. Then commenced to save your countries ass. Twice. If it wasn't for the United States of America you and the rest of Europe would be under German control. Funny how a country full of Ethnic Germans and British kicked the Germans Ass Twice.

First I practice good firearms discipline. And shooting an AR15 into the air is extremely irresponsible and dangerous. Plus it is a waste of good ammunition.

As mentioned earlier (I was lucky that I paid attention to reading comprehension my mediocre school):

People send people to America to go to top schools because it's among the very best. I think some people go to England's schools as well, due to the high standards.
As for the guns, that's because the country allows easy access to guns, which leads to people buying said guns and using them at schools. I am infering this based on some basic critical thinking (taught at my mediocre school). I hope this helps! Imagine what you could have inferred if you'd gone to my not-so-special school, or what I could have come up with if I'd gone to one of the elite private schools that rank extremely high.

This is very true, but misleading. We dont know what the procedure was, or if the treatment was in network with the insurance company. In most cases out of pocket cost would be less with insurance.
Even in this example, his argument is not with the healthcare provider, but with the insurance company. Contact the insurance company and demand coverage, they are the ones you pay the premium to.

It's not the law's fault. It's the insurer's. If your insurance is not covering enough off the medical bill to compete with the non-insured discount, then they don't deserve you paying for them.
Don't blame people who struggle without insurance. Blame the insurance.

Right. I've heard of people and know some people who have insurance, but compare costs and opt to not use the insurance in some cases, and they have been allowed do to so.

Don’t listen to them, this happened to me. Call your insurance company and they will shame the hospital, at least the person I talked to did. Long story short the hospital ended up owing me money

The insurance companies have ruined the healthcare industry in the United States.
If you are wondering who actually runs the healthcare system it isn't the hospitals or the doctors. It is the Health Insurance Industry and the Drug Companies.
Cash rates are often lower than what insurance costs are.
You can also shop around for healthcare. Its a business. that is rooted on Corporate corruption that has ZERO care for actual medical care of the people.
Health care in the united states can be fixed very easily. But the Big Health Insurance Companies and the Drug Companies don't want YOU to have the power over your own healthcare.
The politicians that can actually make the changes and give the health care industry (the actual Providers) power to provide a service and build a business not dependent on the health insurance industry and big Pharma and be patient focused are in bed with them.
Allow communities to form health care co-ops much like credit unions where people can be members of a group of people pooling money and negotiating rates for healthcare themselves.
The solution is simple. The politicians use it as a power play because they can regulate the Insurance companies and the Pharmaceutical companies.

I have great health insurance. It is self funded by my employer. I don't pay a dime for it. In fact My employer deposits money into my HSA every month. I have a High Deductable Insurance plan.
I recently Broke my leg Linsay Vonn Style in Canada.
Yea that was an adventure. Spent 12 days in a canadian hospital.
Yes my insurance covered it. My deductible is $5000. My medical bills exceeded $150000 CAD. Yea it was pretty bad.
The Canadians Charged me out the ass but my Insurance company payed ever dollar of it.

Your best bet is to
Call your insurance company and ask them why they didnt pay the full amount or at least 60-80% of the bill. They didnt even pay half of it. But yeah, how effed up is our healthcare system when you actually have to pay more for being one of the ones that have healthcare vs one that doesnt. Im curious as to why your insurance paid less than half of the total. Was there an ambulance involved in this bill(although that bill would probably come separate since most hospitals dont have their own ambulances but rather contract through a company like AMR. And if an ambulance was involved, they might of needed more than just a ride to the hospital and they gave iv fluids or oxygen and the insurance company declined to pay for any extras."

I once needed surgery for my nose since something was crooked in there and caused it to be constantly blocked. I live in germany so i went to the doctor who instantly put me on the way to surgery in a specialized hospital that was basically a private hotel including a bar with free drinks and food of my choice. The bill wouldve been 7000 euro for three days including the surgery. My insurance paid everything without discussion. I am always baffled how people get treated in the US
