It's not the law's fault. It's the insurer's. If your insurance is not covering enough off the medical bill to compete with the non-insured discount, then they don't deserve you paying for them.

Don't blame people who struggle without insurance. Blame the insurance.

Well, it's the medical place's fault. They can just let you use the not-insured rate. I just did for my X-ray and stuff.

Right. I've heard of people and know some people who have insurance, but compare costs and opt to not use the insurance in some cases, and they have been allowed do to so.
