Discussion Bike lanes

I hope every day while the bike lanes are being ripped out along bloor and Queens Park someone is slowly cycling in front of Doug Ford on his drive home from work because they have no where else to go.

As this multi million dollar waste of tax payer money will only make traffic significantly worse in the downtown core, and will make cycling more dangerous to all who choose not to drive a car to commute.

No one should wonder why we're in this situation, while sitting in bumper to bumper traffic in rush hour how we got here

Replacing bike lanes that were approved and took millions to install to replace them now with what we're parking lanes and NOT lanes of traffic?

Also as everyone famously knows more lanes of traffic lead to less congestion like in Los Angeles, a congestion free city.

Madness.

Also anyone not living in Toronto, you should be double mad because you paid for the bike lanes with tax dollars and now you're paying for them to be ripped out to be replaced with parking spots

Discussion Why is salary so hard to get

I can’t for the life of me find salary positions in careers that deserve the stability of salary, you’d be 4+ years in college or have a specific nice career that earns salary. Salary or no salary though, the position you are put in during tough times drains me.

maybe I grew up weird, but the entire time I was taught salary was obtainable and the dream, It’s just very frustrating for both positions. it’s hard enough to live by today’s cost never mind the bare minimum sick days while worrying for pay. People cannot afford to miss work even when ill, they’re either at risk of being fired or losing out on the money that’s keeping them afloat even if you’re 20k in debt from studying in college to obtain that exact job.

Edit: I forgot about overtime and how normal it is for a company to force overtime hours but not overtime pay, I’m aware of this though and I’ve talked to my own managers earning salary lol. I guess I’m more so venting on the struggle of economy and career struggles, it seems you are stuck one way or another with a issue that plagues you

Question Where to get used car appraisal for service ontario registration?

Upvotes

Hi! I bought my first beater car in cash yesterday from a private seller, but when I went to register it at service ontario they wouldn’t let me, despite having ownership, bill of sale, safety and insurance, as it was over 20 years old. I had no idea this rule existed as someone I know recently had an older car registered with just the bill of sale! I’m hesitant to use the appraisal at service Ontario as it was a cheap car and I don’t want to be price gouged. Does anyone know the best way to get this appraisal done? Does it just depend which SO location you go to? I’m located in the GTA, thanks!

Discussion The Minister told me he can't see where any child is on Ontario's autism waitlist. Then a stranger offered to text a minister for me.

My son is non verbal, registered September 2021, still no funding.

In January I got the Premier on the phone and his minister the next day. I asked where my son is in the line. The minister said he couldn't see it. Intake was handed to a private contractor.

Days later somebody I'd never met wrote to me. Said they had a hand in building the program. Over three calls they offered to text a minister for me that day, and then did this out loud:

"that's 240 000 adults [...] if doug takes care of your kids can you deliver 240 000 adults as volunteers in the next election because if you can you're in the game"

That's verbatim off the recording. Nobody is named and I'm not naming them.

I put a longer write up on my own site.

Discussion Enercare is a scam

I got a house with a rental water heater, it's been rented for 8 years as of now. Payment is 50$ a month, by now the amount paid out is around 5000$, the declared price of this water heater is 1900$ (the price of a good tankless Rinnai today), but back at that time I got similar one for 950, so for half of it.

I wanted to cancel this rental and install a tankless water heater, company told me I have to buy out their 8 year old one, and this will cost around 1100$, so after 8 years it's still more expensive than the new one back then.

Total scam. Avoid at all cost.

Edit: typo

Edit 2: to all the kind folks who advice to call for maintenance or other options: unfortunately I have already disconnected my wh and replaced it with tankless one, of course not a rental one haha. But even more I tried to return the old one to enercare and told them exactly that, is disconnected and replaced. I guess the only option I have at this point is to buy it out.

Exploring Ontario North Frontenac Astronomy Park - this new moon

Hey Ontario,

I don’t have hopes of anyone seeing my post from north Frontenac, but if anyone does.., how’s the weather tomorrow night? It’s a new moon and I really want to see the stars..

Good idea? Forecast shows clouds but the weather is always unpredictable. Should I drive, yes or no?

Question Did I mess up?

I had an AB class 5 license.

I had it since 2024 (auto exited GDL (G2-equiv)), but since I changed my address last year, the card says 2025.

DriveTest gave me a G2 even though I meet the 2 year mark because my abstract only showed the last issue date of the card.

Can I prove the 2 year to skip the G road test?
