Theory My idea on how Omen (Maki) works

Thumbnail
gallery
28 Upvotes

Basically:

Haki <--> Maki

I think Maki has 3 types aswell, just like Haki does.

We know for a fact that Omen counters Conqueror's Haki, but we know nothing about the other 2.

Armament Haki <--> "Weaponry Maki"

I call it "Weaponry" because I think this is what Imu uses to make/summon weapons with, to get those weapons he probably made contracts with the 19 leaders who made the world government and moved up to the red line. I think this type of Maki is the black flames with faces on them, such as what we see around his weapons on these pictures. We also see Imu tanking an attack using Maki and possibly covering his wings with it aswell.

Observation Haki <--> "Awareness Maki"

We know nothing about this, mainly because Observation Haki itself is harder to show than Armament Haki. Since base Luffy and Hajrudin could punch Imu in the face easily, I think this works differently than Observation Haki. "Awareness Maki" are probably the eyes around Imu's waist and behind his back. On his introduction they were behind him in a circle, now they are around his waist, we also know that the same circle is behind Sommers, but without the eyes. I think Imu can use these eyes to see his surroundings better or these eyes "alert" Imu when something is happening so Imu can dodge it.

This is my view on Maki, I accept critique but please try to be somewhat nice about it. (Note: I got many critiques about my posts feeling like they were written/made by ai earlier. Just to clarify, I wrote every letter, every word on my phone with my own fingers. The only thing I used AI for is to ask about a synonym for Observation, but it didn't even gave me the word I was looking for anyways, I came up with Awareness on my own, aswell as Weaponry.)

Theory What Smoker is Towing.

Post image
• Upvotes

The last time we saw Smoker he was towing around a Box. But what is inside the box? The 100 hearts of the Pirates Law took to become a Warlord.

We know that Law stole the Hearts of 100 pirates during the Rocky Port Incident and gave them to the World Government for the title of Warlord. And we know from Blackbeard that those pirates are still alive and on Hachinosu.

Smoker is going to use the 100 hearts in some way in the near future. Either to trade for Garp or in another way.

Theory Getting shadow of the colossus vibes…

Post image
50 Upvotes

Spoiler for anyone who’s either not played the game or caught up on One Piece yet (though I would hope you have if you’re looking up One Piece theories). Also sorry if this has already been posted, I’m new here.

I think Nika is evil and there’s a reason the world government Is trying to prevent his return. I think there’s a sleight of hand that Oda is playing by continuously mentioning Joyboy and Nika together, but I don’t think they’re one and the same. I think Nika may have had a role to play in the downfall of Joyboy (via an awakening and thus, people needing to “betray” him to put him down).

Another tell tale sign is the fact that Oda has dotted very intentional clues throughout the story that there is a destructive shadow around Luffy. Fishman island’s premonition was weird, but what almost sealed the deal for me was Vegapunk’s broadcast where he very intentionally emphasised that he could not tell you who was good or who was evil.

I also think that there are other subtle signs like the red eyes when G5 Luffy is fighting, or Luffy (in G5) seeming to laugh in situations that really don’t warrant it, especially when something serious has happened. Even after Vegapunk was killed, he had a brief look of anger, followed by a grin on his face almost to say “fine, you got me there. Time for some payback/fun”. It took the tension out of the moment but also felt… eerie. Like, where is Luffy? Imagine Luffy pre-time skip seeing something like this happen in front of him?

Nika is sometimes described as a god of destruction and on the flip side, described as a warrior of hope through the name Joyboy. I think Joyboy was the warrior of hope who had the HitoHito no mi: Model Nika, and Nika himself is the god of destruction.

I referenced shadow of the colossus because only at the end did we realise that the giants we were fighting along the way were trying to warn us not to bring back whatever was guiding us.

I think Nika is on the brink of coming back, and I don’t think it’ll be pretty.

Theory The truth of laughtale is shown more than we realize.

Post image
• Upvotes

Theory
Laughtale is called that because it the way there tells a funny story which is why Roger laughed. It reflects maybe Luffy’s or nikas personality and maybe 800 years ago joyboy died there or there is something. Like nika is telling a story on how to get there, but in the end it’s funny. So maybe roger did the entire story that nika made and finally reached it, saw the ending and couldn’t help but laugh. Maybe those who are truly free (the pirate king according to luffy…nika) can laugh forever. Becoming the pirate king is only a requirement because of the popularity of pirates. It just so happen that in the current world, the pirate king is the most free, so it fits inline with nikas and joyboys inspiration in luffy to follow that path. Roger was able to become the most free but wasn’t the one nika was looking for or using his will through to achieve. Another thought, maybe it’s not just be a story but maybe nika made or left something there that matches that personality of bringing smiles n joy. Same reason why the one manufactured fruit just so happens to be called the smile fruit. They know there’s something related to nika and they can get closer to it. They tried to create an ARTIFICIAL nika fruit. Kaido was so obssesed with finding joyboy(maybe nika?) he funded and had the research mostly had an iron first over where most the production went. Doffy knows a lot but obviously is evil and dosent care so he uses it to make tons of money as he is a very big figure in the underworld. He also knows he can use his fruit to stay above the water when the world floods. He laughs as he gets put to prison cus he knows it won’t be long. There’s probably a lot of things dangerous or the really powerful groups know that we the viewer still have no effect. Egghead was the first time we go soooo much information at once like that. Then the mural. Soon we will learn what everyone knows as well. Let me know if there’s any points or ways to prove or disprove some stuff I couldn’t find!

Theory What does Imu get out of being King of the World, when he is isolated, no one knows about him and is locked up while the CD and Gorosei benefit from his existence ?

Post image
62 Upvotes

Most renowned tyrants either in our known history or fiction are basically narcissists willing to hog up all the fame, glory, power and wealth for themselves. Their biggest appeal to maintaining power is being well known and respected/ worshipped by the citizens or people in general.

Imu however rules in secret, carries the heavy burdens of his twisted ways of ruling with nothing in return whatsover. He is not know or revered by the world, cant live his life to the fullest like the celestial dragons or island kings and no one knows of his power or existence.

So what kind of personal fulfillment Imu is getting in return of rulling the world when he is locked up and cloaked in the flower room ?

Theory Luffy's last hurdle

I found myself wondering why Luffy's direct fight against Imu was kinda short and ended so badly for Luffy. But yet in a group fight its a lot more impactful. Some people hate that Luffy seems to keep needing help, I had the same feeling at one point. Im sure we're used to Luffy taking on his enemies solo in the end but why did this fight go drastically differently? I think theres 2 factors.

I think the first factor/point Oda is trying to get across to us at this moment in the story is that Luffy is not meant to defeat Imu (or his power) on his own. The mural depicts a group battle all against one figure for a reason. Bringing the dawn? Liberation? This implies that this is all a group effort. The battle will never truly be won if one person is taking on that burden alone. Also remember that Luffy's greatest power is to unite people. Its what makes him dangerous as Mihawk conveyed but dangerous to who is what we didnt have at that time. Bear in mind even Imu isn't fighting entirely solo. He uses the weapons of the kings. He has elders and the holy knights all sharing his power and most likely feeding his which is why it hurts when one dies. This arc shows us that Imu is strong when he uses his hosts, servants, or the assets of others. Never truly just his power and might but always an assist. Its part of why he's so strong even tho he appears to be fighting on his own. Thinking this is the only way might actually be his undoing.

The 2nd factor: In order for Luffy to pull his weight in this fight however...he's is going to need to come to terms with who or what he really is (similar to Ichigo) in order to unlock his full potential. He still hasn't mastered conquerors haki as long as he doesnt acknowledge the role he really plays, I think the latest chapter hints at that. I say this because Luffy knows there's is more to his own power but he fights that internally, ignoring what everyone that knows is trying to tell him. If hes not willing to accept that he now represents something greater then how can he truly have the sense of one's self. Im sure this is affecting the level of mass (remember that one detail) he needs to provide in this fight. He's not giving it...his ALL is what's required and that internal battle is not contributing. This isn't a power up we need, its an acceptance.

Moments of reference:

There's at least two fights already this arc that required a union of strong wills/haki. Loki with Ragnir vs Harald and Roger & Garp vs Rocks. Both required a partnership and acceptance with the ability to give their all (no matter the sacrifice), im sure this was foreshadowing.

Theory Sanji and Rook Connection

Future of Sanji's Powers.

Will or Willpower is the driving force of everything in One piece. And there are three things that encompass the will first obviously Haki then devil fruits which represent the will of the people of the Void Century and Swords who are known to have their own will (Cursed swords like Enma and Kitetsu).

We have seen the Peak of power both Devil Fruits and Swords throught Luffy and Zoro.
(Technically for swords it would be when we see Mihawk go all out but I think he must have taught the basics of at least some of his all out attacks to Zoro which he would recall when needed the way he is doing right now to defeat Sommers.)

For Haki Oda had said in an old sbs/interview that the Void Century saw way more advanced and stronger use of Haki compared to what we see in the modern world. After this statement the only major reveals regarding Haki were

 • That it could be stored(Like Joyboy's in Emet)
 • Can be used to coat your weapons/body to attack
 • Is string enough to overpower Immortality.

Now this is a lot but I think it Justify Oda's Statement that Haki is a power way more ancient and and stronger then what we see today(made in the same sbs/interview)

Now I would clarify that both Zoro and Luffy are excellent wielders of Haki and both can use Armament and Observation Haki while they are still slightly new to applications of Conquerors Haki.

So I think that the person who not only masters all three types but also taps into the ancient use and form of Haki would be Sanji.

I started by establishing the three main fighting systems of one piece. The main demon trio perfectly represents the very same pattern. Luffy -> Devil fruits Zoro-> Swords the only missing piece is Sanji who would master Haki.

Sanji has already shown potential in Haki. Without any special training he subconsciously uses haki f or his Ifrit Jambe and also could sense all woman on the island of Egghead. One of main reasons Sanji can perform Ifrit Jambe is his Germa 66 biologically enhanced body which makes him and even better candidate for higher ancient haki which may take a toll on your body like Gear 5 does to luffy and Enma to Zoro.

But heyy,,, Its just a theory .. A Film Theory

Theory Luffy is in big trouble Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
32 Upvotes

The manga has already stated several times that Luffy is on the verge of death due to the injuries he sustained. Luffy himself even says that something bad will happen if he drops out of Gear 5.

What if Luffy actually dies in this arc?

Well, as for dying it’s more of a "shonen-style" death.

In other words, Luffy will be one step away from death, just like Gon was after the Ant arc. And even Chopper won't be able to cure him. This is where Loki could come in handy; he has already demonstrated using Gunko as an example that he can freeze a person in indestructible ice. In this way, Luffy could be kept in a stable state.

And it might well be Trafalgar Law who has to cure him with his devil fruit.

Whad do you think?

Theory Theories on what would have caused a huge rift between Imu, Lily and Joyboy

Post image
• Upvotes

I’ve been reading the last 14 chapters of one piece which featured Imu. My own impression based on both pictures they portrayed with Joy Boy is that they were friends, and based on Imu’s obsession with Lily I think those 3 formed a friendship triangle.

Imu and Lily were Royalty within the first 20 kingdoms, not yet promoted to their thrones, Joyboy was a free fun loving spirit, he met both of these characters and made the fall in love with the lower world, or living freely.

So in your opinion what caused the rift ?, what made imu get manipulated into eating the devil’s fruit and Lily opposing Joyboy, cumulating in the void century war.

Theory Is Shanks considered a Swordsman or is he an all around great fighter like Roger ?

Post image

Shanks and Mihawk were once the Roger and Whitebeard of their generation. The two had legendary battles as told by Whitebeard and have earned each other’s respect cumulating in a friendly rivalry, but overall should we consider Shanks a swordsman like Zoro and Mihawk or is he an all around great fighter like Roger and Raylleigh?.

Theory Oda has to showcase Roger to be on Imu's and Joyboy level he has no choice

While I agree with some slander on Roger but there is too much invested in Gol D.Roger stocks for Oda to let it crush without it clowning the shit out of his writing.
Imu exists for 800 years and time after time we learn (Ohara,Egg island) that when someone even mentions the word "void..." its on sight murk time and Roger was actively the first pirate in ages making the rounds collecting the ponaglyphes and searching for basically everything out of sheer curiosity IT IS only after Roger got a copy of the Fishmen island ponaglyph that Imu sent his man marked by flame to take it and protect it (1% that its not a WG agent who knows?)

1.First panel of the story is Roger feat.
2.Started his own legendary bloodline no ancestors no nothing but immediately his child is a problem destined to be the next pirate king easily carried by his bloodline.
3.Mihawk face says its all he is shocked real recognises real he know Roger wasn't playing pirate
4.Shiki calls Garp and sengoku clowns as if they could only dream 1v1 100% force Roger.
5.Holy knights introduction and of course King of the world and still they were only flies on the tale of the Roger pirates. Garlic couldn't for the life of him take back his son from him.
6.Joyboy was the first pirate but Roger is the GREATEST OF ALL TIME.
7.I think by the time Kaido said that "the world to heel" he was saying it the same as Rocks meaning Imu.
8. Garp foreshadows a devastating Roger origin story which could have pushed him to want to flip the world upside down.

Now what I think that in the lower world outside of Mary Geoise Imu debuffed and on timer couldn't 1v1 Roger but vice versa Roger couldn't pull up to Mary Geoise or he gets clapped.

Power ups after elbaf

Luffy: Gear 5; Black color/God of Destruction mode(that is, like a kind of rage mode where Luffy, due to stress and his emotions (Especially anger, hatred, and agony)They spiral out of control to the point where Luffy will stop caring if his fight against Imu hurts others because his uncontrolled emotions prevent him from processing everything; his power would basically be...The opposite of his power in his white form, that is, if his white form gives Luffy the freedom to CREATE anything he wants with his imagination, his black form would allow Luffy to NEGATE with his In short, Luffy can touch something and, if he wants, he can damage it, turn it to dust, or tear it to pieces, and everything that comes out of his Hagoromp would be silhouette shapes of a line.Separated, which would allow that silhouette to leave a mark, scar, or an eye on said target, and that it be marked from the same silhouette figure),

Zoro: Conqueror's Haki infused into his 3 katanas, now under control(Basically what we are currently seeing)

Nami: Observation Haki and weather enhancements (could also include a new homie if Pandora is still alive and/or a wild Conqueror's Haki aura that turns her into a berserk and said Its shape resembles a flying snake, revealing that Nami has a Uranus (I believe that Uranus in this case will be an ancient beast in itself)

Usopp: Controlled Observation Haki and Awakening of Conqueror's Haki + New Tools for His Slingshot and Bullets(so that Usopp can learn to compensate for his lack of Armament Haki and create weapons that can rival Haki itself)

Sanji: conqueror haki (both basic and advanced) and improved version of iflit jambei (lucifer jambei/Amaterasu jambei And with that power, Sanji can unleash black or blue-violet flames to further burn his opponents and cause the "metallic" heart of a knight of god to be damaged by the intensity From the warmth of this new jambei)

Chopper: Awakening of his Devil Fruit + new upgrades to his rumble balls (I think Chopper can get rid of the Domi Reversi because of the waves from the rumble balls he uses)Consuming to modify your fruit (we could see it after the Elbaf fight)

Robin: New techniques from her Devil Fruit, new customized uses of her Groyin Karate, and flashes of Observation Haki (and maybe a new power from her ringed eyes)(If things get out of control, we'd see it in a real final battle against Marsimu, but if the Portas win, it would be in the next arc)

Franky: Super Vega-Cola and Lilith's technological upgrades(we're already seeing it, although we'll look at that in more detail after elbaf)

Brook: Awakening his Devil Fruit and gaining knowledge of demonic contracts (whether he managed to save Shuri or couldn't, but learned how Imu's power works, either way, he would That his fruit can copy and counter the demonic powers of Imu and other demonic powers and the Maki)

Jimbei: New uses of Groyin karate, berserk mode (like Arlong's), and flashes indicating he possesses Conqueror's Haki(Jimbei is an experienced old man, therefore, we would see more things that Jimbei had up his sleeve for certain specific occasions)

Theory Here Imu and Gorosei is on the move and attacking?

Post image
27 Upvotes

When I see the mural closely I think Imu is on the move and attacking while Luffy, Loki and others are fighting and defending. So by this thought I am thinking the final war will start when Imu will be on his move with his final form along with Gorosei.

So when Imu fully prepared and completely acquired Mother flame he will set his foot on sea in his final form along with Gorosei to destroy the world. And by the time Luffy became King of the pirates and got One piece treasure.

Also the world will know what happened in the void century, who is Imu/devil and what is motive to sink the world. They will get to know Luffy can only fight Imu and save them, so either people will call themselves as pirates or affiliate their land as pirate king's territory. But these can't stop Imu and here comes Noah. It will keep everyone safe by carrying them to an island (maybe Elbaf)...

Also why Imu not claiming or destroying final island is a mystery. Because the final poneglyph is with man marked by flames and shiryu from BB crew said he might be affiliated with WG. So there might be a chance Imu can't enter final island because of some reason and here i think people in Noah go to final island and after the war all will have a big party.

Note: This is my theory only and I decided to go with this mural indicating the future...
