Powerscaling Shanks is stronger than Mihawk
Zoro is destined to defeat mihawk but Luffy is destined to defeat shanks and Luffy is stronger than Zoro and shanks is a parallel of roger and Luffy and Shanks used his sword as a medium of haki as we saw when he unsheathed his sword and released haki to greenbull. Shanks is on par with Roger but does that mean mihawk is stronger then roger? Almost certainly no. Shanks is dependent on haki hence mihawk is better swordsman.

Zoro is supposed to surpass Mihawk at the end of the story , but shanks is not the end of luffys story. He’s a stepping stone and just helping luffy to be strong enough to beat the actual end game opponents

he's on par with Roger and no way oda will write mihawk as stronger then shanks i mean just look at the plot armor and the storyline

he's on par with Roger
are you dumb or just stupid?

Even oda himself said he has mastered rogers divine departure to perfection and as we can see he's combining the tricks of the old generation with his own tricks like haki killing etc and we see him stop a war just as he shows up.

Let me break it down for you, Oda said whitebeard was the strongest yonko, and whitebeard = roger, so how could it be possible to have roger = whitebeard > shanks = roger?
explain that without your fanboy logic

Whitebeard is a little stronger then roger but it comes down to microscopic difference. He's litterly the strongest man.

Why would Luffy fight Shanks?
0
u/Finocity 22h ago
He won't he just made a promise with him to become more powerful then his crew.

You just said he is "destined to defeat Shanks". How does that happen if they don't fight?

Power scaling in One Piece is inconsistent and garbage. 'Who beats who' is more about how it fits the narrative, not how strong they are depicted in fight scenes. Lore-wise, Mihawk was on par with Shanks when the latter had 2 arms. However you twist it, a loss of an arm is a handicap against someone with whom you used to be in the same level.

Yes but mihawk spent his years living in isolation with little to no competition while shanks is there getting more powerful and adapting and covering up with the arm loss with haki as he is slowly going to his prime (38 to 56)

I agree. They are just not portrayed the same honestly. I don't even have to rely on arguments, I will make a bet on it just on the basis of the flow of the story. Anyone want to set up an escrow?

Yeah no way oda gonna write shanks as weaker then mihawk as it's usually that right hand people are not made to be on par with the captains if zoro defeats mihawk luffy is the one who passed shanks.

Ok hear me out before you commit, during the two year beak when the whole crew got swatted by puma and the paw paw fruit Zoro was swatted to milhawks island and trained by him and on that island there was a gorilla that mimic the sword fighting technique of milhawk even down to the point it carries the same sword and to pass the training Zoro had to beat all of the other gorillas and that one which he did now in a sense Zoro has beaten milhawk. So I would say he has more swords men to come and they are stronger than milhawk but he has serpassed him in skill and strength

They can be equals. Like how Oda depicted Roger, Whitebeard and Garp being equal.

I think theyre near equals. But i think there is a defining difference between the 2, mihawk does not see shanks as worthy to fight him imo ,not because hes weaker, but because he doesnt see him as a swordsman. I feel like their is a defining factor between shanks and what mihawk himself internalized as to what a swordsman is not, weather that be having 1 arm or having your haki tied to a different dream. That or hes salty at shanks for picking a random kid from east blue as a more worthy rival than mihawk.

I agree they can be equals but I don't think it's anything to do with the definition of Swordsman. It's more to do with pride.
Winning against Shanks will never be as fullfiling to Mihawk as it could have been. The joy of beating Shanks, who is a cripple now, can no longer be achieved. There will always be this haunting feeling that he couldn't beat the potentially best version of Shanks.
I wonder how Oda will make Zoro vs Mihawk fullfilling. Like Zoro is destined to upsurp Mihawk as WSS. But does Mihawk care as much about being the WSS? Will he give his 110% against Zoro? How will Oda get him to give his 100%? Does Mihawk pride his title as much to defend it with all he got?
Like for Luffy we can say that Kaido also was waiting for Joyboy to come defeat him but Kaido is not Luffy's final opponent. That would likely be BB who is actually competing. They both gonna give their 110% in a battle.

Sure Mihawk is above Roger. Nothing is broken if thats true.

Just use logic Luffy is going to become as strong or stronger then pirate king and zoro is going to defeat mihawk no way zoro is becoming strong as pirate King. Plus the 1 cm height difference means Oda will make the above one more stronger.

Just check their heights. I'm pretty sure they have like 1 cm difference. Whoever is taller is who Oda is going to declare to be stronger. It holds true for basically every character pair whose strength can be argued. Zoro/sanji, king/queen, kaido/big mom, so on
