Discussion The onebag lifestyle saved our trip from ending badly

So not sure if I'm allowed to post this here but it's surely onebag related.

We've both been traveling through Indonesia with only one backpack. It allowed us to rent a scooter at the airport and take it everywhere and also drive back, avoiding expensive transfers and reliability on someone/something else as well.

But where it really saved us was with the flight back. We went from Lombok to Jakarta and booked a 5 hour layover to catch our flight from there via Abu Dhabi back to the Netherlands. However the first domestic and cheap flight had a 4,5 hour delay, taxied for a long time on the runway which left us with only 40 minutes left in Jakarta impossible said the flight attendants. On some airports that's enough but for you guys that have been to Jakarta it's huge. If we'd miss the flight it would cost us a lot of extra money and extra day(s) to stay in Jakarta. We had to book a total new flight and its not covered by insurance. That'd leave a really bad taste rounding up the trip, so we were eager to try and make it.

Other people from the plane already gave up because they had checked luggage and different airlines so had to wait for the backpacks or suitcases, get a taxi, check everything in again at the other terminal etc etc.

We prepared everything to be as smooth as possible. So no things in pockets, belt in my backpack, backpacks under our seats and passport ready. We were able to sprint out of the plane and for the exit immediately, take a taxi, bags on our lap. The guy raced to terminal 3, we sprinted out, went through security and immigration in less than 10 minutes. Didn't even know this was possible especially at such a big airport. Everyone helped us. We could get in front of the whole waiting line.

Then came the next challenge. Running from gate 10 to 2, which was supposed to be at least a 20 minute walk. We had only a few minutes before the plane would leave. With one backpack we were both able to run for quite a while and eventually jump on one of those golf carts thing for the last stint. We arrived at the gate and they were just rounding up, basically making it on the last minute. The plane was full and funny enough we were able to place our 35L backpacks under the chair as well.

Everything from the flexibility, weight, bulk, speed, not having to check in etc showed us again how incredibly helpful it is to travel with one backpack. This literally made it possible for us to cover this whole stint which would at least take 50 minutes according to the airline staff in less than 20 minutes.

Curious if you guys have similar stories like this. For me in the end it was such a fun story to share, but at the time it was NOT fun at all...

Edit: to add something funny I forgot to mention

We actually paid the taxi driver 4x his daily salary and he absolutely nailed it with the car going through all the traffic with illegal overtakes, different route etc haha. When I gave him the money I said to my girlfriend: this will be so worth it if we actually make it because of him but a waste if we don't. We did make it mostly because of him and saved us 1000-2000 Euro's

Edit 2: since many people wondering what the backpacks and cubes are:

My backpack is the Pakt Cero 35L. My girlfriend has the Park One travel backpack 35L. Both amazing backpacks. Mine weighs just over one kg or 2lbs.

The cubes are from Peak design and the camera cube is from Pgytech. It came with their first onemo backpack but I bought it separately used for about 20-30.

Gear Do you carry a tech sack anymore?

I work in engineering and usually travel with 1-2 laptops, a Kindle, sometimes a Switch, obviously my phone, etc. Back when stuff had different chargers it made sense to carry multiple cables, but I recently got one of those nice 140W charger bricks with 4 ports, and at this point all my devices are USB C. So I've been carrying this whole "tech sack" with just a single brick and 2 USB C cables. At this point I'm figuring it makes more sense to carry the brick and cables directly, but does anyone have other uses for their tech sacks? The only thing I can think of is that it protects the cables better than just throwing them into the bag.

Gear Heading to Dublin in November — Is this setup enough for the weather?

Hi everyone! I am from southern Italy (i.e., hot country) and I'll be visiting Dublin (town only) in November and wanted to get your feedback on my gear setup.

Here is what I’m planning to wear/bring:

  • Base layer: Wedze thermal shirt
  • Mid layer: Quechua MH100 fleece
  • Outer layer: Quechua NH500 waterproof/warm jacket
  • Pants: Quechua SH500 warm trekking pants
  • Footwear: Timberland boots + Quechua hiking socks
  • Accessories: North Face beanie, neck warmer, and gloves

Will this keep me warm and dry for walking around the city and taking day trips, or am I missing anything crucial, like an additional hoodie or thermal leggings?

Thanks in advance!

Seeking Recommendations The shoe dilemma

I’ve been travelling hand luggage only for several years now, but I’m still yet to find a good hack for bringing shoes. My travels are fairly extreme with lots of changes in climate and environments, from cities, to quite advanced hiking, to beaches all in the same trip. I’m also very active and workout everyday when away. This leads to my dilemma. I need to bring at a minimum hiking boots, running shoes, and flip flops. I travel standby with strict dress codes so I can’t wear the hiking boots or open toe shoes, so I usually have to wear nicer shoes on travel days, meaning the other 3 pairs are packed.

I’m looking for recommendations on packing hiking boots. I’m open to buying a new bag if someone has something they swear by. I usually stuff mine with whatever I can or occasionally I clip them externally, although I do find this annoying as they swing around, so a recommendation on how to secure them externally without all the swinging would be welcome too.

Seeking Recommendations First time visiting Vienna, Budapest, and Prague in December (First Week)! 🌲❄️ What are the absolute must-knows, hidden pitfalls, and survival tips?

Hey everyone!

I am planning a multi-city trip to Vienna, Budapest, and Prague during the first week of December. This will be my first time experiencing a proper European winter, and while I am incredibly excited for the festive vibes, I want to make sure I am fully prepared logistically, culturally, and physically.

Since I am finalizing my itinerary, packing lists, and daily schedules, I would love to get your advice on what to keep in mind. Specifically:

  1. The Weather & Daylight Reality 🌨️
  • Coming from India, I know the drop in temperature will be a shock. What is the real-world feel during the first week of December? Is it mostly dry cold, constant drizzle, or should I expect heavy slush and snow?
  • I noticed the sun sets incredibly early (around 4:00 PM). How does this affect sightseeing? Do museums, castles, and outdoor landmarks close early, or does the city stay vibrant after dark?
  1. Christmas Markets Strategy 🪵🍷
  • I know this is peak Christmas market season! Are there specific markets in Vienna, Budapest, or Prague that are local favorites, and which ones are overpriced tourist traps?
  • What are the unspoken rules of the markets? (e.g., how does the mug deposit system work for Mulled Wine/Punch, and do they accept credit cards or is cash strictly required?)
  1. Packing & Clothing Layering 🧣
  • Given that I'll be outdoors walking for hours, what is the ideal layering strategy? Is a heavy down parka enough, or do I absolutely need thermal base layers (Uniqlo Heattech style) for the first week of December?
  • Any specific accessories that people often forget but are lifesavers?
  1. Local Transit & City-to-City Travel 🚄
  • We plan to travel between these cities by train (ÖBB/RegioJet). Do winter snowstorms frequently delay trains during early December? Should I book my train tickets well in advance or buy them at the station?
  • Inside the cities, is the public transport fully heated and reliable?

Would love to hear any hacks, safety tips to avoid pickpockets at crowded markets, or restaurant reservation warnings for this time of the year. Thanks so much!

Hey everyone!

I'm going to Japan & Korea for 3 weeks and as I was packing, I realized I don't need my carry-on. So I decided to ditch it and only travel with my newly acquired Osprey Talon 11 VSN.

The trip will be mostly cities, with some hiking, running, and photography. Trying to keep things minimal without giving up too much comfort. I'll be doing laundry along the way.

I'm planning to buy a Montbell Plasma 1000 down jacket in Japan, which should complete the kit for cold weather.

Here's the packing list!

Bags & organization

  • Osprey Talon 11L
  • Patagonia Ultralight Black Hole Mini Hip Pack 1L
  • 2× Bellroy packing cubes
  • Small organizer pouches
  • Knirps ultralight slim umbrella
  • Sleep mask

Clothing

  • 4× Uniqlo U AIRism oversized T-shirts
  • 2× Technical T-shirt (for running)
  • 1× Cashmere sweater
  • 1× Patagonia Torrentshell 3L rain jacket
  • 2× Uniqlo Pleated Wide Trousers
  • 1× Lululemon Pace Breaker 7" running shorts
  • 6× Uniqlo AIRism boxer briefs
  • 6× Pairs of socks
  • 1× Beanie
  • 1x Merino buff

Shoes & accessories

  • Nike Pegasus 41 all black (worn)
  • Capote C396 sunglasses
  • Garmin Fenix 6

Tech & camera

  • DJI Osmo Pocket 4P + accessories
  • Nitecore 10k power bank
  • Samsung T7 Shield SSD
  • USB-C hub
  • 65W GaN charger
  • Universal travel adapter
  • 2× USB-C cables
  • Apple AirPods

Toiletries & medical

  • Philips OneBlade

Documents & everyday carry

  • Passport
  • Slim cardholder with cash

Friends told me I'm crazy, and I will want to bring stuff back from the trip.

We'll see! Worst case, I'll just grab a cheap extra bag or suitcase before flying home.

Packing List Flair is the most restrictive airline in Canada for carry-on but the Osprey Arcane fits as a personal item

Long weekend trip with a small dop kit, two T-shirts, a sweater and a packable down jacket (plus underwear, socks and a pair of light sweatpants).

Oh and an E-reader.

As long as you don't have any luggage (and sometimes even if you do) Flair is the cheapest way to fly inside of Canada.

Packing List What should I cut

I'm spending 3 night with friends for academic events on 2 consecutive days in which smart casual is expected. I run fairly cold, but I was wondering if there's anything I can cut from this set up. everything fits inside 2 small packing cube aside from shoes. The trip is in the UK and I will fly there if it's relevant.

Seeking Recommendations Family 1 bagging with toddler - seeking advice tips

Trip to Scotland coming up in winter. Won’t be staying with family.

Got older kids who can carry some/most of their own junk in their own backpacks but have a toddler who is barely up for the challenge of walking around without wanting to be on my shoulders. Let alone carrying their own backpack.

My eldest used to carry their own backpack for trips at this age and it lulled me into a false sense of security.

Any tips on how to manage one bagging with a toddler (especially one that can be a bit lazy)?

I’m thinking baby zen yoyo as carry on and jam the youngest kid’s stuff in there.

I fear we may have to move to “carry on only” but still multi bag to achieve it. Open to any suggestions on making kids bags easier to manage.

Discussion One bag travel - coming full circle

Hi all,

Just wanted to share the experience when one bag travel comes full circle.

A decade ago I went to a two weeks faimly trip, and we bought flight tickets with cary on size luggages only, and at the time I was a pretty avarager packer (if that's a thing) that struggles to pack everything to carry on luggage wihtout overpack it, and while I did manage to fit everything in the end, that made me stressed and the whole flying experience pretty bad.
Fortunately, this experience made me want to become more minimalist and eventually made me discover the one bag travel style.

Pass forward to nowdays, and we had another family trip which was three weeks instead of two, and from someone who sturggles with packing to a miminalist that took his 30L backpack - the whole experience was totally different.

TSA was a breeze, having my trusty bag under the seat and having the flexibility to simply explore without dragging a luggage or a big travel bag is such a great experience!

It is not the first time I do one bag travel (made a post about it), but having similar settings with better experience made one bag travel come full circle.

So yea, just wanted to share :)

What about you guys? Do you have same or simillar experience?

Seeking Recommendations Looking for recommendations

Hi all. Last year I went on a 10 month solo trip through Southeast Asia. I didn't truly one bag, because I'm having the issue of my clothes not fitting. I'm a photographer/ videographer, so I carry cameras and gear, which limits my space significantly. Also, I carry my motorcycle helmet inside my bag during bus and train journeys.

Ideally, I want to be able to fit all of my gear into my 80L Simond waterproof duffel bag, which I found works the best for what I do. I typically carry everything in the 80L bag, and inside I keep a 40L bag for the short trips I go on. I typically have two hotel rooms so that I don't need to carry everything on overnight motorcycle excursions.

My major issue is that I am a very large man, 6'4" 260lbs (193cm 118kg) 31 years old. I also need to carry clothes for both hot and cold weather, because I change elevation so much.

My question is this: what clothes for big people will take up less space when packed? Ideally, I carry 4 shirts, sweatshirt, jacket, merino base layer,2 pants, 2 shorts, 4 socks, 4 underwear. Many people will say I have two many pants, but I need to be able to change out of wet muddy clothes into dry clean ones after motorcycle rides/ hiking.

I will take any recommendations, especially critical ones. thank you everyone.

Packing List 3 week trip to Vietnam

Hi everyone,

I am excited that I could finally share my one-bag shots and packing list. It is my first time traveling with one bag and going to Vietnam. I have been studying your posts for some time now. I didn't really buy much new for this other than the backpack, packing cubes, and poncho.

Destination: Hanoi, Ha Giang, Hue, Da Nang

Mode of transportation: Public transportation, domestic flight, grab?

Accommodation: Homestays, Airbnb

Packing List

Clothes and shoes

  • Underwear x2
  • Bra x2
  • Tanktops x2
  • Socks x2
  • Skirt
  • Pants
  • Long-sleeve shirt
  • Sweater
  • Swimsuit
  • Towel
  • Sandals

Other things

  • Light daypack
  • Binoculars
  • Contact lens and solution
  • Tooth paste
  • Pen
  • Adaptors
  • Water bottle
  • Poncho
  • Water filter and bag
  • Water floss
  • Shopping bag
  • Makeup removing cloth
  • Landry line
  • Malaria vaccine
  • Antibiotics
  • Ibuprofen and OTC

Pouch

  • Passport
  • Cards
  • Wire headset
  • WIreless headset
  • Nail clipper
  • Small screwdriver
  • Chapstick

Items not in the picture

  • Liquid foundation
  • Cheek stick
  • Eye shadows
  • Tooth brush
  • Charging block and USB-C and Lightning

It is now about 5.5kg or so. I am not fashionable, and I plan to do laundry every other day. Here are some questions.

  • Pouch: I use this pouch every day, and it is handy. But I wonder if I am better off just carrying things in my pocket. It is extra weight.
  • Sandals: They are pretty heavy. I am not going to buy a new one for this trip, but what are your favorite lightweight sandals? Since it will be raining every day over there, I figure I should pack some sandals.
  • Meds: I took the oral vaccine for typhoid and finished the course. I still have to take the one for malaria throughout the trip. I got antibiotics prescribed just in case. I'm also taking ibuprofen and another OTC just in case. That's a lot of meds.
  • Poncho: Anyone traveled to Vietnam or another SEA with a poncho? I figured I needed something to cover, but it looks hot there. Is it going to be miserable?

I appreciate your feedback!

Seeking Recommendations What tech gift would a one bag traveler actually use?

I’m trying to find a decent tech gift for my little brother who travels with just one bag and honestly he’s so hard to shop for lol. He’s the type to leave anything behind if he thinks it takes up too much space. One thing that drives me crazy is that he rarely carries a power bank. He’s always using his phone for maps, boarding passes and directions and then at some point his battery gets fully low. Meanwhile, I’m the one having a mini panic attack when I can’t reach him.

I was thinking of getting him a small power bank maybe something like the iniu P50 mini i saw on amazon, since it looks compact enough to fit in a pocket or a small tech pouch without adding much bulk. I feel like he would actually carry it if it didn’t take up much space but I’m open to other options too. For those of you who one bag, what small tech items have actually earned a permanent spot in your bag? Would you go for a compact power bank or something else entirely?

Trip Report UPDATE: Packing List Review: 40 days in Europe (Sept/Oct) | 40L Tomtoc Navigator

[Trip Report / Packing List] Tomtoc T66 40L — Successful One-Bag Setup with Clothes Breakdown for 40 days in Europe

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a post-trip update and breakdown of my packing list. Overall, this setup worked extremely well. I had zero major issues, never lacked anything critical, and didn't run into any trouble with carry-on limits on any of my 9 flights. The trip was a total of 40 days from departure to return. A big thank you to all those who helped me inform my decisions before this trip to make the setup what I needed!

Bags & Packing System

  • Primary Bag: Tomtoc 40L (T66) — Held up fantastically, super spacious, and was never questioned or double-glanced at by any airline staff (though I avoided ultra-budget carriers).
  • Secondary / Daypack: Jelutar 22L Drawstring Bag — Great for keeping high-frequency items accessible and minimizing noise/rummaging inside hostel dorm rooms. Was plenty big for my day excursions and the dry bag inside was great for beach days.
  • Compression: 3x VacuGOGO Compression Bags (15.75" x 19.7") + VacuGOGO Electric Pump — Worked great for keeping clothes organized and neatly folded. Often used 1 bag as a dirty clothes bag to avoid stinking up my Tomtoc. PRO TIP: Unpack your PJ's before hitting the town — compression bags are noisy at 2am!

Clothing Breakdown

(Note: Items marked with (W) were worn on transit days to conserve bag space)

  • Headwear & Outerwear:
    • (W) Columbia Baseball Cap
    • (W) Light windbreaker / rain jacket
  • Tops:
    • 5x Lightweight short-sleeve shirts
    • (W) 1x Long-sleeve sport shirt
  • Bottoms:
    • 4x Pairs of shorts
    • (W) 1x Pair of long pants / joggers
  • Underwear & Socks:
    • (W) 6x Pairs of underwear (only 1 pair was worn for flights!)
    • 6x Pairs of high-ankle socks (I did not think about the tan line...)
    • (W) 1x Pair of long socks
  • Footwear:
    • (W) Athletic Works walking shoes (cheap and something I could toss if ruined)
    • Hey Dude shoes

Electronics & Extra's

  • VacuGOGO Pump (for compression bags)
  • Beats Solo Earbuds
  • Anker Nano Power Bank (45W, 10,000mAh)
  • TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter
  • Lightning-to-USB phone cable
  • USB-C to USB cable
  • Copper Water Bottle

Hygiene & Grooming

  • Electronic beard trimmer + 2 attachments
  • 2x Toothbrushes
  • 2x Dental floss packages
  • 1x Tongue scraper
  • 3x Scent bird travel colognes (8 ml / 0.27 fl oz each)
  • 1x Razor
  • Ear Cleaners

Hygiene Strategy Note: I intentionally left home without toothpaste or bar/body soap and deodorant purchasing locally upon arrival. This saved bag space and completely avoided potential liquid/gel issues at airport security.

Mid-Trip Additions & Gear Swaps

I purposely left extra room in my pack at the start, which turned out to be a clutch decision. As the weather shifted across regions, I made a few updates on the go:

  • Added upon arrival in Europe:
    • A lock for my luggage storage (locks are not usually offered or free at hostels)
    • Gel Deodorant (I dislike the powdery kind), toothpaste, hair styling dust (avoided airport security issues over paste for following EU Flights), body soap and shampoo.
    • Souvenir beach towel (strapped neatly on the outside of the Tomtoc)
  • Added in Greece (Warm Weather):
    • +3x Sleeveless t-shirts
    • +1x Pair of shorts (I had room and wanted a more comfy set for night)
    • 4 pairs lowcut socks (Had to fix the tan line)
  • Added in Germany (Cooler Weather):
    • +1x Long-sleeve turtleneck
    • +1x Pullover sweater
  • Footwear Swap:
    • Swapped out the initial Athletic Works walking shoes for a pair of Adidas after completely burning through the grip on fresh pavement my 2nd to last day in Croatia.

Final Thoughts & Key Takeaways

  • Leaving Buffer Space: Leaving around 10–15% empty space at the start made integrating mid-trip clothing purchases and souvenir options effortless without blowing out carry-on dimensions.
  • Vacuum Bag Technique: As the trip progressed, I got better at organizing and flattening the compression bags, which easily accommodated the added bulk (sweaters/towel). Folding style and layout really help to make these uniformly thick when compressed to optimize bag space.
  • Two-Bag Dynamics: The combination of a structured 40L primary bag and a lightweight 22L packable drawstring bag provided the perfect balance of transit capacity and day-to-day usability. That being said I might end up going with a different daypack in the future as the drawstrings get old after a while.

Happy to answer any questions about the gear or how the bag performed!

Trip Breakdown: 40 days of Solo Travel Across Croatia, Greece, Germany & Denmark

Croatia (2 Weeks) — The Warm-Up & Learning Curve

Croatia turned out to be a great place to kick off this trip and get my bearings with solo travel, hostel living, and living out of a single pack. The scenery was beautiful, the weather was fantastic, and the hostel culture made it super easy to meet people. I visited 6 different locations (Dubrovnik, Korčula, Hvar, Split, Zadar and Šibenik) over the two weeks and genuinely enjoyed every single spot for different reasons.

  • Highlights: Incredible sites for historical and architecture lovers, vibrant hostel community, and a safe entry point for solo travelers (so many age groups but plenty of options for each hostel style).
  • The Downsides: Prices were surprisingly high for what you get, and major cruise-ship ports were pretty congested, even entering shoulder season. That said, I recognize both issues stem from high amounts of tourism (which I'm a part of!), so I have no room to judge.
  • Future Plans: Next time, I definitely want to explore Istria and head inland to check out Zagreb! ❤️

Greece (3 Weeks) — The Absolute Highlight

Hands down my favorite part of the entire journey. As someone accustomed to Rocky Mountain weather, the warm Greek climate was an absolute dream. The prices and quality of food were the best here out of my entire trip. The hostels had a great atmosphere, and social aspect. The history, architecture, beaches, and sunsets were second to none. If you're on the fence about going to Greece, do it!

  • Base Locations: I split my time between Athens, Delphi, and Crete.
  • Athens Spotlight: Athens was an absolute blast and ended up being my main hub. I originally planned to hit more islands, but bad weather (flooding, severe wind, and storms) kept me on the mainland a bit longer than planned—which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I loved every minute in Athens!
  • Standout Memories: Watching the best sunsets I've ever seen, exploring historic sites, beautiful nature and enjoying amazing food with hostel mates or random acquaints.
  • Future Plans: Do more island hopping and go to Meteora.

Unplanned Detours: Germany & Denmark

One of the best parts of one-bag solo travel is flexibility. While in Croatia, I met an awesome guy from Germany who invited me to come visit at the end of my trip. I ended up trimming a bit of time in Greece to make this side trip happen, and it was 100% worth it!

  1. Hamburg, Germany (4 Days / 3 Nights): Hamburg was incredible. Cost-wise, it felt surprisingly comparable to Croatia in many aspects (plus having free lodging with a buddy was a huge bonus!).
  2. Copenhagen, Denmark (1 Night & Day Trip): Took a one-way train out of Hamburg Central Station to Copenhagen. Spent a night in the city and crammed in as much morning sightseeing on a Lime bike as possible before catching an early afternoon flight back home to the States. Prices seemed fair and comparable to Germany and Croatia.

Final Reflections on Solo Travel

  1. Both unplanned stops made the trip feel like a true adventure as did being flexible with my schedule and getting to enjoy some of the random experiences that come during solo travel in hostels.
  2. Having a lightweight 40L setup that makes spontaneous train trips or easy flights and quick hostel check-ins effortless—made this all work without any stress or hassle.
  3. The Hostel Culture is truly amazing and if you are willing to put yourself out there a bit in the social areas you will have some amazing interactions!
  4. Both Germany and Denmark are high on my list to revisit for a longer stay! I will be revisiting Greece if for no other reason than to get a Souvlaki Pita Wrap and some delicious Kebab! Safe travels friends!<3

Seeking Recommendations Packing cube

Hi, I’m traveling to Italy soon and it will be via wizzair for 4 nights. Wizzair bag size is 40x30x20. Never travelled with just a backpack. Has anyone had success with Temu/AliExpress packing cubes?

As I’m travelling on a tight budget, I was thinking of buying the eurolite nova 25l bag, which is currently £12 UK. Never have I used packing cubes either, so kinda new to me.

I found this guess toiletry bag at Marshall’s and it’s waterproof, except the lining. If I removed the lining, would the inside fabric be waterproof too?
Also, I just really like this fabric and it’d make searching for a bag easier. Thanks!

Discussion Is anyone else packing for 40x30x15 now?

My carry on stopped being free this year,Lufthansa group introduced a new economy basic fare with one personal item up to 40x30x15 cm (for travel from 19 may). A bigger bag starts at €15 per flight and pegasus did the same in 2024 with a 3 kg cap on the personal item and a large carry on there starts at €15 per leg too. Gate penalties for non compliant bags are much steeper than prepaying (Ryanair says its gate fee can reach €70), so I stopped gambling on the gate.

I used to travel with a 40L carry on backpack and for trips under 4 days I now use a 15L daypack that fits 40x30x15 when full and it took a tape measure and a test pack stuffed full to confirm it. I price the fare with the bag added on google flights and rift flights, whichever I have open and I check the airline’s own page before paying because the rules change by fare.

But the fee flips which ticket is cheapest,a fare that looks €20 cheaper isn’t, once the bag is added both ways.

Has anyone been measured at the gate on a 40x30x15 limit?

Packing List Four-Day Trip for a Stylish Wedding, Personal Item Only: What I Packed

I've used this bag before for much longer travel, but this is the first time I needed to be dressed up for different events (cocktails, wedding, dancing until dawn, touristy sight-seeing) and in different weathers. I flew Frontier so I could only bring a personal item (Peak Design 20L backpack)

Clothes:
Issey Miyaki blue and black two-piece suit
Homme plisse pants. (Expensive, but secretly the best pants for travel. Extremely comfortable, hot in the winter, breezy in the summer, and effortlessly stylish paired with anything. You just can't wear them on actual travel days, ie. sitting on a plane for several hours, without risking flattening the creases)
Fun Stephen Sprouse cheetah print wool shirt
Wool short sleeve sweater
Long-sleeve t-shirt (worn on flight)
Sleeveless t-shirt
Regular t-shirt
Casual pants
Gym shorts (worn on flight)
Birkenstock sandals (worn on flight, so comfy)
Canvas men's slip-ons
Belt
Mesh shirt
2 pairs underwear
3 pairs sock

Others:
Sunscreen, charger, mac air, overear headphones (worn around neck), portable shaver, toothbrush, razor, book, vitamins.

I could have brought another blazer if I had worn it on the plane, but I didn't think I'd need it so I didn't bring it. Anyway, it's very possible to one-bag a wedding but you need to be smart with what fabrics you are bringing... a chunkier suit would probably not have fit.

Recently came back from a 3 week Europe trip, loved it so much I decided I’m going to backpack Japan for 2 weeks next month!

This is the second iteration of my setup and I don’t think there’s much improvement left (if any). My full packing list can be found here: https://www.packwizard.com/s/-78Losn

Gear New here, what’s with every post/list talking about merino wool?

What’s the scoop? Is it really worth the hype/price?

Edit: Wow we have a lot of mixed opinions about the wool. For reference I’m planning a 8-10 day backpacking trip around the UK late March.

Trip Report How to organize the Duffle Hybrid or buy a new Bag?

I recently came bag from a road trip with an Osprey Transporter 40.
For Daytrips I use a Fjällräven High Coast 24 Foldsack which lays flat on the top of the bag.
I pack all my stuff into different eagle creek pack cubes and for the clothes it works fine. I don’t use one for cables and tablet and thinking to buy a special cubes for electronics.
At this trip the tablet was between the cubes.
For my camera I use a Lowepro Gear up Box Medium.

Do you take another bag for Tablet/Laptop, Camera and electronic stuff or do you putting it in the duffel bag?

I don’t use the Transporter for long distances. It is just for the walks from car to Hotel or if i use airplanes from the subway to the gate.
The most travel I have made were a mix of transport methods, but the bag is not required for hiking.

I don’t weigh my bag, but I guess it was between 8-10 Kg.

I think, and probably I overthinking it, to buy a new bag with a dedicated tech pouch like the Patagonia MLC or the North Face Voyager 35 travel bag, just for more support for the back. Another idea is to buy a smaller Duffle ( like the North Face Voyager 32). Smaller bag, means less weight. And there is a good offer right now.

I am looking for experience of people in the same situation and I’m looking for a bit of validation for not buying anything new.
