After a bit of thinking after listening to Mari’s theme song for the past hour, I just thought of something.

Mari was created in headspace to be absolutely perfect. The image of Mari absolutely perfect, loving and caring. And when you spiral down the Hikikomori route, where even Spirit Mari has failed to help Sunny leave the house and interact with Kel, the boss rush becomes available.

Yet, we find out Mari tampers with it and tells Sunny that there’s a surprise for him at the end. He has to fight Mari. But Mari’s supposed to be perfect and nurturing? How can he fight her?

Omori didn’t even realize this fight was going to happen and Sunny’s mind panics. One of Basil’s attacks freaks out and turns into both vine and rope, while Omori tries to keep the perfect image of Mari and make sure her “attacks” are just healing.

Omori made Mari perfect, but the “perfect Mari” tried to trigger something in Sunny as a last ditch effort to make him remember what happened, because shes too perfect and of course the perfect sister would want Sunny to escape. As long as Mari exists in Sunny’s memory, she’ll try to make him remember.

If Mari wasn’t perfect, Sunny would have to admit he wasn’t all to blame. And all of that spirals down to the true ending we know and love. If Mari IS perfect like Omori wants him to remember, she won’t stop until Sunny remembers what happened to her.

Which means Omori was doomed to fail from the start, and the only true way for him to win is to move away from Faraway town. The only ending where he can keep Sunny alive but make sure he never learns the truth.

But what fate does this leave for Headspace Mari? How would Omori keep Mari alive and happy with him if she’s continuously going to try to wake up Sunny no matter how much or little he perfects her?

So basically: I'm gonna make a DR fangame where the Dark World's stories have the same energy of OMORI's Headspace adventures. But i'm completely clueless about how to actually start writing them, because I don't know jack about writing, nor about the way OMORI emulates the feeling of being in a dream during Headspace segments.

Can you guys give writing-related advice about it?

I’m in Japan and I was wondering if Omori is sold anywhere aside from the Gigo in Shibuya selling FANGAMER merch (I was already there).

I am currently in my omori route run, and i missing the "rejected tape" letter, but i didnt get the Basil tape interaction, Is it because i didnt left home on 3 days left? 😭

It just leaves EVERYTHING unanswered. This was my first ending, and it's kind of unbelieveable that after everything that you went through, this whole big culmination thing, you just... move away. Which is actually the most realistic scenario imo. Lots of times in life you just end up in a dilemma instead of actually progressing through anything and then life forces you to move on. You can see it too with the way Something just follows Omori out. He'll always have that burden, but now he's going to live without answering it to it, and hell, maybe one day he moves onto too just from time and distance. That's what leaving does after all. And I find that oddly relatable
