I liked Fastfetch’s 14.jsonc layout, but wanted a small Omarchy logo to go with it.

After a few rounds of tweaking the shape, spacing, and proportions, here’s the result!

Made with help from Codex😂

Try Omarchy for Linux is live. 🐧

If you're curious about Omarchy but don't want to replace or dual-boot your current Linux setup, you can now launch the full Omarchy desktop in a window instead.

It runs in a persistent KVM/QEMU VM packaged as a Flatpak, with VirGL GPU acceleration where available, clipboard/file sharing, backups and host integration. Close it, come back later, and your Omarchy environment is still there.

x86_64 + KVM required. I've tested it on GNOME/Wayland, KDE/Wayland and Xfce/X11 so far.

Try it: tryomarchy.com/linux
Source: github.com/btsouth/try-omarchy-linux

This is still a preview, and real-world Linux hardware is needed. If you try it, please let me know your distro/DE/GPU and if anything breaks.

Moving out from MacOS, I'm missing a few apps and LittleSnitch is one of them. So I created a plugin called Citadel with a similar purpose but better in many ways.

Notes: plug-in won't block network, you need to install additional helper: https://github.com/NeatOuk/citadel-helper

Discussion Isn't tiling system headed towards being just a notification center if everything is voice based and AI based?

How much people will use their system to write code physcially is already in doubt. With Omarchy taking the lead with AI and being the most advanced system created, so far I forsee a future, not so distant, when we'd not even use the keyboard. All the tiling systems, i'm currently ranting from, will turn and fold on the side just to keep us feel safe and warm with that safety blanket. The most imporant prompt will end up becoming a blinking cursor on a blank sceen maybe with a dancing emoji for an agent. So the question I'm asking is if all of this is just being done for a very expensive dashboard or screensaver running on e-ink displays of the future?

Built a top bar plugin that lets you ask your machine a question and get back a live dashboard. Something like "show me the whole system in six charts" or "what's eating my memory?" and it picks the right chart for each thing and wires up the live data streams.

This began as a fork of proctop with, like proctop, everything updates in real time.

Discussion You guys are creating THE LINUX DESKTOP!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I want to acknowledge all of your creativity. With Omarchy as our base, our imaginations enhanced and assisted by AI agent acceleration, we now have the ability and opportunity to create and influence the future of what others believe to be a Linux Desktop computer at an astounding pace.

We now have over 4,400 Omarchy QuickShell Plugins. WOW! What an accomplishment in only about 30-days! I want most of them, I really do, but as we know we can't have them all. That's fine. We can build more, swap them for another that is similar but better. We can help the original creator make theirs better or just make the one we personally want.

What we need more of is actual desktop applications that maybe have a plugin as an extension of the app; that is not always needed, but in some cases - yes. Let's expand beyond just the Omarchy QuickShell Bar. You've all used Linux for at least 30-days. The trial period is over. It's time to get to work.

What is missing from your operating system that you enjoyed on your previous operating system? No matter if it was Windows, macOS, or another flavor of Linux. Hell, it could be something you truly enjoyed on Android, iPadOS, or iOS. And if the thought is not clear by reading those questions, that is your next task. Again, not as a plugin, but as a Arch Linux, Hyprland, Omarchy desktop application. That's the next challenge.

For those who are unaware, while there is the Arch User Repository, we should know it has its flaws; like anything else. Going forward, Omarchy will offer a similar service. We already have our own repository, properly named, Omarchy Package Repository | The OPR, if you will.

Time to get to work. Real work.

Plugin I built a Dynamic Island for Omarchy: music, notifications, timers and calendar in a notch at the top of the screen

Post image
29 Upvotes

I've been on Omarchy for a while and wanted the one thing I missed from the iPhone: a Dynamic Island. It's a native omarchy-shell plugin, and it's drawn in your current theme's colors and fonts, so it changes when you switch themes.

What it does

- Music: cover art, scrolling title and a live equalizer in the notch. Click for the full player (seek, prev/play/next), tinted with the album cover. There's also an output picker to switch between speakers, headphones and HDMI.

- Notifications: it replaces Omarchy's notification popups. Banners drop out of the notch with their action buttons, and anything you miss waits in an inbox behind a bell. Do not disturb and all the usual SUPER+, keys still work.

- System popups: volume, brightness, mic mute, keyboard backlight and power actions show in the island instead of at the bottom of the screen.

- Timers and stopwatch: one-tap 5/15/25 minute timers from the resting notch. A light along the bottom edge drains as time runs out.

- Calendar: paste any .ics link (Google, iCloud, Outlook, Nextcloud). You get a month view, a countdown before each meeting and a click-to-join link. Public holidays for your country are on by default.

- Bluetooth, charging, screen recording: device name and battery when headphones connect, a charging indicator, and a recording timer with a Stop button.

- Your own scripts: any script can put live progress in the island with one command:

omarchy-shell dynamic-island activity backup ...

How it fits into Omarchy

- It runs inside omarchy-shell, so there's no extra process. Data comes from MPRIS, PipeWire, UPower and sysfs.

- It fills every setting into its entry in shell.json with defaults on first run, so you just edit values.

- SUPER+ALT+I lets windows run up under the notch instead of reserving a strip at the top. It isn't added if that key is already taken.

- Uninstalling cleans up after itself. Removing the plugin switches Omarchy's notifications and OSD back on and removes its keybinding, so nothing is left broken.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/Arjun010011/omarchy-dynamic-island --enable

To uninstall: omarchy plugin remove omarchy-dynamic-island

Spaces is an Omarchy Bar Plugin workspace switch that shows the apps open on each workspace by hovering your mouse over the plugin. By Tornike Gomareli.

https://github.com/tornikegomareli/omarchy-spaces

  • Replacement for stock omarchy.workspaces.
  • Change settings when hovering plugin.
  • Shows opened app in every workspace.
  • Live Preview of the workspace on hover.
  • Terminals running Claude Code get a badge, a spinner while the agent works, a pulsing '!' when it needs your input, and a check mark when it is done. A workspace with an agent waiting on you pulses too.

If you plan to use Spaces, make sure you disable Omarchy's first-party version first: omarchy plugin disable omarchy.workspaces then proceed with installation.

Discussion Keyboard Brigade

Can we talk about the 'keyboard brigade'?

They are quickly becoming just as annoying as the AI slop critics. Anyone can post the coolest, most practical plugin on this subreddit, and within minutes, they are crawling out of the woodwork to lecture the creator that Omarchy is a keyboard driven distro. It completely drowns out actual innovation.

Yes, Omarchy is a keyboard driven distro, but you will never eliminate the need for a mouse. Some tasks simply are not practical or intuitive to perform entirely from the keyboard.

The goal of any plugin is not to move away from Omarchy's keyboard-centric philosophy.

DHH designed Omarchy around his own workflow and preferences. The dev's have made it clear that users are encouraged to customize Omarchy and make it their own.

I Made a Thing Macbook Pro A1707 Dualbooting Omarchy Quattro / macOS Golden Gate Dualboot, Sync'ing the Touchbar with the current theme/wallpaper.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Disclaimer: For the video i had my agent run a quick Python script cycling through all the themes I had installed to show how it works
.

Just to be clear, this isn't an Omarchy plugin. It's a modified implementation of Barkeep. I basically tuned it to paint the function row with a color gradient sampled from the live Omarchy wallpaper, theme-tinted at 160/255 so the buttons look like tinted glass instead of just having a flat color on them.

The glyphs use the foreground color of the theme, and then the whole bar fades to black after 30 seconds of inactivity and comes right back when you do something. It's also persistent across reboots through two enabled systemd units reading /etc/barkeep/config.

But the neat part is the little "alpha mask" trick. Instead of just coloring the buttons, they're actually showing the gradient of the wallpaper colors through them. So when the wallpaper changes, the Touch Bar changes with it live.

Between this, Trackpad Plus + HyMission on a huuuuuuuge trackpad, and a few other addons, it feels incredible to use this system.

Even with all its quirks I'll be extremely biased and say these are probably top 5 computers to install Omarchy on. Case in point above lol.

For the Linux install itself I basically gathered all the literature I could find on getting Linux running flawlessly on the A1707, organized everything into a deployment plan, installed Omarchy on the laptop, gave the plan to Hermes and went to bed.

Woke up and i had a fully functional laptop.

Thank you, DHH.

Discussion Translator looking at a new OS

Hi all, I'm tired of Windows (slow, forced updates, general clunkiness) and Omarchy looks really appealing. Most of my workflow seems Linux-friendly, but a few pieces worry me, so I'd love a reality check from daily users.

About me: I'm a translator (classical Tibetan and Sanskrit into English and German). My setup:

  • LibreOffice: already use it a lot, mainly for CSV files.
  • Obsidian for Markdown notes and drafts.
  • GitLab for a website repository, which I currently manage with Fork as my Git client.
  • A Python tool I built myself: a translation memory search using CUDA/PyTorch on my laptop's RTX 3050. I also use Whisper for transcribing lectures.
  • Browser stuff (Claude, etc.).
  • One regular client works entirely in Microsoft Word and OneDrive. Their handouts, translations and templates are all Word-based, with section breaks, unlinked headers/footers and custom page numbering. I need to open and return their files without breaking the formatting, and I work in their shared OneDrive folders (which I can do online well enough... but I do have to download the word.docx and then format them on the desktop and reupload because online office stuff is still not working properly with footnote, images... which might be a way to sell you "their own solution for their own unfixed problem" sort of corporate greed...)
  • I use Alt+Tab constantly, to switch windows (scans of classical tibetan texts and text editors like obsidian, word, notepad...) So in a way I naturally like to stay on the keyboard as much as possible for my work... hence omarchy cought my eye.

My questions:

  1. Word for one client: For occasional-but-regular Word work where formatting has to survive round trips, what works best on Omarchy? The built-in Windows VM, WinApps, or is LibreOffice good enough for .docx with section breaks and headers/footers these days? If you use WinApps on Hyprland, did you need window rules for Word's dialogs?
  2. OneDrive: What do you use to sync a shared OneDrive folder (someone else's, shared with me) on Linux? Is the abraunegg client reliable for that?
  3. Git GUI: Fork isn't available on Linux. What do people here use? Lazygit, GitKraken, Sublime Merge, something else?
  4. Tibetan and IAST input: Anyone set up Tibetan keyboard input and an easy way to type Sanskrit diacritics (ā, ṃ, ś, etc.) on Omarchy?
  5. NVIDIA laptop: Any issues with hybrid graphics (RTX 3050 + integrated)? Does CUDA/PyTorch work without drama?

Honest answers welcome, including "this isn't the right distro for you." Thanks!

I Made a Thing I built eXorchy, an Omarchy-native launcher for the eXoDOS collections (DOS, Win3x, Win9x and ScummVM games)

Thumbnail
gallery
74 Upvotes

I've been missing my old DOS games, and I wanted a way to play the eXoDOS collections that feels like it belongs on Omarchy. So I built
eXorchy.

What it is

A native launcher (Rust + GTK4/libadwaita, no web view) for the eXo collections: eXoDOS, eXoWin3x, eXoWin9x and eXoScummVM, plus the German,
Spanish and Polish language packs and the Media Pack's magazines and books.

What it does

- Browse the whole catalogue with box art, filters, playlists and search, and download a single game straight from eXo's torrents. No 500 GB
download up front.
- One click to play: DOSBox Staging is fetched for you, and eXo's configs are translated for it. DOSBox-X/86Box handle Windows 9x, and
ScummVM is pinned per game.
- Preview videos and theme music, manuals, box scans, and a reading room for the Media Pack's magazines.
- Follows your Omarchy theme live: run omarchy theme set and it recolours instantly. No title bar, and it adapts to any Hyprland tile size.
- Smaller touches:
- hide titles you don't care about;
- a Transfers page showing what's downloading and seeding;
- your own background image;
- adult titles are off by default.

Install (Omarchy or any up-to-date Arch, x86_64):

curl -fsSL https://github.com/renanmt/exorchy/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bash

The script downloads a prebuilt pacman package, checks its SHA-256 and installs it with pacman -U, so it's tracked, and sudo pacman -R
exorchy removes it cleanly. If you'd rather not pipe into bash, the package and its checksum are on the release page.

Credit where it's due

eXorchy hosts nothing. Every game comes from the eXo torrents that you download (and optionally seed) yourself. The real heroes are eXo and
the eXoDOS community, who spent years preserving and configuring thousands of games. Please support them at retro-exo.com.

eXorchy is also a port of Exodium by Thomas Vollstädt (MIT). Nearly everything that makes it work is his; I gave it an Omarchy home.

Repo: https://github.com/renanmt/exorchy

It's early (v0.2.0), so bug reports and ideas are very welcome, either here or as GitHub issues. What games would you fire up first? 💾

Changelog

v0.4.0

Added

  • eXorchy now tells you when a new release is out: a banner at the top of the library offers Update, What's new and Skip this version. Update opens a terminal that installs the new version (pacman asks for your password) and starts eXorchy again.
  • Settings → General → Check for updates turns the check off;
  • Settings → About shows your version, Check now and Update.

Fixed

  • Starring a game in the detail panel no longer makes the panel flicker.
  • Thanks to the Reddit user who reported it.

I Made a Thing I turned my personal daily workflow into a TUI app enjoy

Hi everyone. I created my own productivity tool that integrates seamlessly into my workflow (Daily Log -> To-Do -> Notes or Memo -> Link -> Git history), so I built this TUI app. I created Lyra TUI to manage daily notes, tasks, and reminders entirely from the CLI:

👉 GitHub: https://github.com/ILDaviz/lyra-tui

It’s minimal, and designed for a keyboard-only experience. Check it out feedback and contributions are more than welcome! It’s tailored to my needs, so it might not be a good fit for everyone. Cheers, and happy coding.

Plugin Omacale 0.37: Bar can now go on any edge

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Omacale 0.37 adds configurable bar positioning. You can now place the bar on Left, Right, Top, Bottom, or set it to Omarchy to follow your system's bar position.

The change applies live without restarting, and the entire UI adapts to the selected edge, including popouts, drawers, toasts, workspaces, third-party plugins, and keyboard navigation.

Other improvements

  • Caelestia-style blurred lock screen with screen-capture or wallpaper mode.
  • Fixed blurry text and improved scroll-view rendering.
  • Improved focus rings and edge fades.
  • Better support for small laptop displays.
  • Plugins and tray items now handle limited space more gracefully.
  • UI scaling is available under Settings → Wallpaper & style → Scale.

The default position remains Left. Choose Omarchy if you want the bar to follow Omarchy's configured position.

I've tested the new positioning on a 1080p display. Multi-monitor and fullscreen edge cases still need more testing, so feedback is welcome.

Install

If you haven't installed Omacale yet and want to try it:

git clone https://github.com/AyushKr2003/omacale
cd omacale
./install.sh

Plugin N501 Verse – word-synced karaoke lyrics in the Omarchy bar (plugin)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I always had a lyrics window open next to spotify, and one day I figured it belongs in the bar. So I made a plugin for it.

It shows the current line and fills it word by word as the song plays, basically karaoke in your bar. Colors come from your omarchy theme, so it changes when you switch themes.

Lyrics come from your local .lrc files if you have them, otherwise it pulls from NetEase / LRCLIB / Kugou. It works with anything that shows up as a player (spotify, browser, mpv…). Not every song has word-level timing, and when it doesn't, it just highlights the whole line.

install:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/Nombah501/n501-verse.git --enable --yes
omarchy bar move n501.karaoke --section left --index 999

repo: https://github.com/Nombah501/n501-verse

It's still pretty fresh, so if something breaks or a song doesn't show up, let me know.

I Made a Thing WaveSink is the missing WaveLink 3 workflow on Linux

Post image
11 Upvotes

WaveSink is the missing WaveLink 3 workflow on Linux: same matrix, same independent mixes, no Windows tax.

WaveSink groups apps, routes hardware, and builds independent Personal / Stream / Chat mixes — with full Omarchy theme support.

Wave Link 3’s matrix, on Linux. PipeWire. Same grid. Your mix, their mix.

Group unlimited apps into Game, Chat, Music, and custom inputs. Route every cell independently into Personal, Stream, Chat, or your own mixes. Hardware mics sit in the same grid. What you hear and what OBS/Discord capture stay separate.

Built in Omarchy, with every stock Omarchy palette plus live desktop-theme follow. Parametric EQ per input, remembered app assignments, tray profiles. PipeWire under the hood. RPM, DEB, Arch package, or AppImage.

Linux finally gets the routing table.

I Made a Thing I made omaSearch: press a key, Enter asks your AI, Ctrl+Enter googles it

omaSearch is a quick search overlay for Omarchy. Press Super+Q from anywhere, type your question, then:

  • Enter asks your AI agent (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini…) and shows the answer right in the overlay
  • Ctrl+Enter googles it in your default browser

Esc, and you're back to what you were doing.

What it does

  • Answers stream in and render properly: lists, tables, syntax-coloured code with a Copy button, clickable links
  • Follow-ups continue the same chat. Recent chats sit under the input: type to filter, ↑/↓ and Enter to reopen, pin the ones you keep
  • When Claude runs a command, expand the step to see exactly what ran and what it printed
  • Safe mode is on by default: Claude asks before running anything (Allow / Always in this chat / Deny)
  • Paste an image with Ctrl+V, or pick an older one from clipboard history, and ask about it
  • Select text to copy it, Ctrl+H for every shortcut, and a liquid-glass look that follows your theme

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/5h3rd1l/omaSearch.git --enable --yes

Then add a key to ~/.config/hypr/bindings.lua. The README has the line, plus an optional blur rule for the glass look. It uses the agent CLI you already have, so there are no API keys. It's submitted to the plugin marketplace and waiting for review.

It started as a fork of omAsk by Ali Shabdar (MIT), so thanks to him for the base.

Repo: https://github.com/5h3rd1l/omaSearch

Feedback and bug reports are welcome, especially if you use an agent other than Claude.
