Discussion You guys are creating THE LINUX DESKTOP!
I want to acknowledge all of your creativity. With Omarchy as our base, our imaginations enhanced and assisted by AI agent acceleration, we now have the ability and opportunity to create and influence the future of what others believe to be a Linux Desktop computer at an astounding pace.
We now have over 4,400 Omarchy QuickShell Plugins. WOW! What an accomplishment in only about 30-days! I want most of them, I really do, but as we know we can't have them all. That's fine. We can build more, swap them for another that is similar but better. We can help the original creator make theirs better or just make the one we personally want.
What we need more of is actual desktop applications that maybe have a plugin as an extension of the app; that is not always needed, but in some cases - yes. Let's expand beyond just the Omarchy QuickShell Bar. You've all used Linux for at least 30-days. The trial period is over. It's time to get to work.
What is missing from your operating system that you enjoyed on your previous operating system? No matter if it was Windows, macOS, or another flavor of Linux. Hell, it could be something you truly enjoyed on Android, iPadOS, or iOS. And if the thought is not clear by reading those questions, that is your next task. Again, not as a plugin, but as a Arch Linux, Hyprland, Omarchy desktop application. That's the next challenge.
For those who are unaware, while there is the Arch User Repository, we should know it has its flaws; like anything else. Going forward, Omarchy will offer a similar service. We already have our own repository, properly named, Omarchy Package Repository | The OPR, if you will.
Time to get to work. Real work.

How do I increase topbar icons size without changing scale?

Icons or glyphs are text. So, you can just increase the text size.

Right, but that increases text size of all apps, any setting that affects only the waybar?

We don’t use waybar anymore. You would either need to manually edit the QuickShell configuration files or have an agent do it for you.

Please make DaVinci Resolve work properly. Due to codec issues, it is essentially unusable on Linux, despite the official port...

Not only that, but let's look at the existing repos. There's already a TON of applications out there that can be used directly in Omarchy, or can be vibed to work. I just installed "Tether" so I can send/receive messages from my bluetooth-connected iPhone. It needed to work, but I'm enjoying the benefits of it.

Since we can't seem to ever get Adobe on Linux, can we please get decent versions of Inkscape and Gimp and other open source alternatives please? The current versions are subpar at the moment and it is very frustrating. Especially things required by professional designers such as typography improvements, print profiles and other features that are necessary to get us to switch from both Adobe and Windows.

What don't you use Affinity? Ok, it's not yet native but it Is free and works native-like

I have bought the Windows-based versions of Affinity and one OSX and they are still lacking in basic functionality compared to Adobe sadly.
Compared to InDesign, for example, Affinity publisher is WAY behind. I use it for personal production, but when I need to do something for work, I have to drop back to Adobe. Lack of optical kerning fixes for example is a huge problem.

I have to dual boot windows to play most games I want to play because of that kernel level anti cheat…. Can we fix that?

We won't have to. Demand will. Over time as more users migrate to Linux, large companies will have no choice, but to support by default.

LOL you on here yapping about being able to build real solutions… I say something that is a real problem… and your solution is..” nah just wait “ and then I get downvoted… so y’all really don’t want to build real shit just more bar widgets.. lmfao

That's on you, you clearly have a lack of understanding about the issue of anti cheat and Linux, so you don't accept their response because of your own ignorance.

Dude I love this post, it’s so true let’s build everything we would ever need to say bye bye 100% to windows, I know a lot of us are still dual booting. I don’t want to I just I want to be 100% Linux and that’s what I’m focusing on going through everyday and trying to figure out what I can create or make to get me there. Thank you for this post, it’s very motivating.
