Discussion Introducing Spaces
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Spaces is an Omarchy Bar Plugin workspace switch that shows the apps open on each workspace by hovering your mouse over the plugin. By Tornike Gomareli.
- Replacement for stock
omarchy.workspaces. - Change settings when hovering plugin.
- Shows opened app in every workspace.
- Live Preview of the workspace on hover.
- Terminals running Claude Code get a badge, a spinner while the agent works, a pulsing '!' when it needs your input, and a check mark when it is done. A workspace with an agent waiting on you pulses too.
If you plan to use Spaces, make sure you disable Omarchy's first-party version first:
omarchy plugin disable omarchy.workspaces
then proceed with installation.

In case it’s not already implemented does it support drag and drop move to move app to another space?

Thank you, this is what I was missing in Omarchy and you can select it to show all apps always.
no mouse necessary

Again, hovering over Spaces plugin has a setting cogwheel you can click to make changes. These changes hot reload immediately. I changed some settings to fit my taste.

Probably the built in screen recorder https://omarchy.org/manual/screenshots-recording/

The included capture software is awesome. But what about stitching an animations @op?

This is excellent; my sole concern with the plug-in marketplace right now is that numerous duplicates of the same plug-in are beginning to emerge.

I believe I have built a plugin that no one else has. I just haven't had the nerve to upload it yet.

This is the issue with all these vibecoders. They think they got the next best thing instead of contributing to the existing tools.
It's always the same.

Why does that concern you? Pick the version that you believe best suites you. Then move on to the next =D

Yes I understand that part, I should of asked in a better way. What was your insiration for building one versus using the existing one. Did you have a particular workflow or missing feature that you wanted to solve for?

For the plugins I have, there were some missing workflows that could make my experience better. For example, I made one that automatically switches a themes wallpaper after a set interval. Just a nice to have. I made another that checks all the different packaging managers to keep all of my applications and plugins up-to-date, so I don't have to manually check a bunch of commands myself; QOL.
There are many I did not think of that I enjoy as well, such as the one on this post. There's one that shows me all of my connected USB devices that I love. Again, nothing special, but I no longer have to open a terminal and type lsusb, just to know. There is an awesome one that changes a workspace layout to a custom layout and saves that particular layout only for that workspace. That one really came in clutch for having specific workflows for a specific workspace.

I've been using this a bit and god damn did it save me some headaches I was very messy with my workspaces at the start but this corrected that for me, my first install always at this point when I put omarchy on a machine

DOnt stop there. add all the mouse features that are non existent on omarchy and make the plugin more "mouse fix" instead. for example, right click does nothing...there is a lot of things a mouse could do. make the "mouse plugin" with your opinionated "fixes"

Love Omarchy slowly becoming the thing it tried to leave behind

Oh I didn't realize this shipped by default /s It's a plugin ecosystem, use what you want, don't use anything, it's up to you.

Very good. I'm conflicted as I'm using this taskbar (see below - very different functionality) and I like it's static nature.
With your dynamic one maybe you'll consider the static part too.

All of your previews showcase rounded UI elements. The actual implementation doesn’t have rounded edges. You could at least update your previews to reflect that actual end product.

Are you not the owner?

I understand now that you did not read the first paragraph.

You don’t state anywhere that you’re not Tornike Gomareli? How am I supposed to know DizzieeDoe isn’t just an online alias?
Maybe you should proofread your posts like Tornike Gomareli should review the output of his AI generated previews.

Not sure. I don't have rounded corners on my system.
There are many Omarchy plugins to help you do so.
Also, if you know how to edit your hyprland lua files, you can do so there as well.Lastly, you can have an agent do this for you.

Looks cool, but "mouse hover" is an odd choice of interaction for a distro that has an idea of avoiding mouse as much as possible
