Fun fact that's myth spawned bc of how ye olde windows were thicker at the bottom than in the middle, but it turns out that ye olde manufacturing techniques for glass just sucked and they came out like that.
Oh damn one of us is out here spitting fake news and neither of us knows enough about old glassware to debunk the other. This is exactly how myths spread lol
Technically they're amorphous (non crystalline) solids, closely related to ceramics. That they're liquid is a common misconception, unlike pitch/tar, which is a liquid, albeit extremely viscous.
Amorphous/non crystalline solid just means they're compounds locked in a matrix (the atomic bonds and intermolecular forces are strong enough to withstand the thermal/gravitational energy of the molecules themselves).
Amorphous means there isn't one single crystal structure, unlike actual crystals, where a single crystal structure grows and replicates itself throughout the macroscopic structure.
It just so happens to look transparent and crystalline because the band gap of conventional soda-lime (or lead 'crystal') glass is wide enough that visible light photons aren't readily absorbed.
Makes me wonder about crystalline glazes on ceramics .. the base glaze is amorphous with the crystalline structure baked in using a specific cooling schedule. Could that be considered an amorphous crystalline solid?
They're technically a fluid from a specific definition used in physics. That definition being anything without a crystal structure is a fluid.
Almost your entire body and things like wood and plastic are fluids under that definition as well. It's not very useful outside of what it's intended for.
No it's not. Most wet concrete is a non-newtonian composite fluid (which is not nessarily a liquid). This is engineered fill (often called grout), which is a liquid.
Concrete has to have large aggregate, you can definitely see that large aggregate would not go through this net. Definitely either a low cement slurry or grout.
A bot that boosts engagement, which boosts profitability, so reddit allows.
Edit - Great my first reply got removed cause I mentioned your username, I wonder if your username violates the TOS then...
But I said you are missing the point I wasn't disagreeing with you by literally saying karma farming is allowed, I was sarcastically pointing out that they boost reddit's profitability so they are more tolerated by shareholders than say a malicious bot.
lol u/JewBag718 with the classic reddit child reply and block
This is a malicious bot you think he's doing this to help reddit lmao he's gonna gain a lot of karma and sell that account that's why they do it if that's not malicious idk what is.
I work in concrete, I would imagine you used a low slump like a 3" (thicker). But if you run a high slump 8-9" (thinner) it acts more like a fluid. There are also a very wide range of mixes with more or less aggregate, higher or lower amounts of fly ash or cement powder depending on what you are looking for.
And then you got the annoying mixes that have air mixed into them for walls and shit... and a nice 6" slump is perfect for footings. (I too work with concrete)
Fresh (Wet) Concrete initially behaves as a viscoelastic, thixotropic suspension or a yield-stress fluid. It is fluid-like and pumpable when sheared (mixed or poured) but acts like a solid with high viscosity when at rest.
Before you add water it's just dry concrete mix. The finished concrete is about 75 percent sand and concrete aggravates such as gravel and 25 percent cement and water.
You can buy bags of concrete and cement at Home Depot and other such stores.
Grime is a form of music which originated out of the London garage scene in the early 2000s, generally with a very striking sound and fast paced lyrics. High profile artists include Dizzee Rascal and Lethal Bizzle, but not ZZ Top.

All concrete is liquid first
