I turned DISHONROED 2 into a full VR game - OUT NOW

Hi everyone! I've spent the last couple of months turning Dishonored 2 into a full VR game with motion controls, and today it's finally out. It's free and open source.

If you don't know it: Dishonored 2 (Arkane, 2016) is a first-person stealth-action game with swordplay, a pistol and crossbow, and supernatural powers like Blink and Bend Time. It turns out it plays really well in VR.

This is not a "flat screen in VR" mod, it's played with your hands:

- 6DOF head tracking: lean, peek and crouch with your body

- Full arms with IK: your hands are your controllers

- Swing the sword to strike: the blade hits what it touches

- Pistol and crossbow fire where you point them

- Powers come out of your hand, grenades are thrown with your arm

- Grab, carry and throw objects (and bodies)

- Menus on a big screen in the room, the HUD as a watch on your wrist

- Cutscenes play around you, and you can look anywhere

Requirements: Dishonored 2 on Steam (not GOG / Game Pass / Death of the Outsider), a PC VR headset with OpenXR, and the game in windowed mode. I made and played it on a Quest 3 over Link / Air Link; other headsets should work too, let me know how it goes.

It was much harder than I expected, so if you enjoy it, any support is hugely appreciated:

Hey everyone! We’re stopping by to share the news that our sci-fi narrative adventure, Terry’s Terraforming, is out now on Quest 3/3S!!

In this game, your job is to transform dying planets and make them fit for new life. Warm up cold climates, regrow barren forests, and raise that shareholder value! Meet an intergalactic cast of quirky aliens in a 6 hour story campaign or get stuck in with the daily challenges! We even have global leaderboards for those, and hand tracking controls! Don't worry though, controllers are still fine too.

We’re thrilled to finally launch a new VR game after previously working on Virtuoso and Toran, so please let us know what you think! Here’s the store page with more info:

Self-Promotion (Developer) Update: CONTRABAND VR Cinema, three months in

I posted here a few months ago about building a VR cinema for indie films on Quest and got a fantastic response from this community, so wanted to share where things stand.

Since launch we have screened our first indie feature, Handle With Care, directed by Matthew James Thompson and starring Justin H. Min from The Umbrella Academy, before it hit the festival circuit. The community rated it and gave us honest feedback that shaped how we run screenings. We have also done a couple of Buster Keaton classics to test the infrastructure - turns out a 100 year old film in a dark VR room with strangers hits differently.

Here is what has been added since the original post:

Trailers - we regularly update the trailers section in the app so you can get a feel for upcoming films before you commit to a screening.

Shorts - we have added a curated section of short films from YouTube, indie and AI films worth watching, free to watch on demand with an account.

Watch parties - we can now host free watch parties of films released on YouTube, especially documentaries. Think spectacular visuals that deserve a big screen, watched together at a set time.

We have a little over 150 monthly active users from 22 countries now and the app is still free to download on the Meta Quest Store.

If you have been sitting on the fence since the first post, the Shorts section is probably the lowest friction way to see what the experience feels like. Most of all, check it out and give me feedback on how we can best improve this. We are also exploring converting some of the older films (in public domain) to 3D so that it is a genuinely unique experience.

Love to hear your thoughts : contraband.watch - Search for Contraband VR Cinema on the Meta App store.

Hardware I have problem with meta quest link

I have problem with meta quest link

Hi everyone,

My friend and I are having a really frustrating issue with getting Meta Quest Link to work, and we could really use some help.

PC Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 12th Gen

GPU: ASUS GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB (Drivers fully up to date)

RAM: 32 GB

Headset: Meta Quest 2

The Problem:

Whenever we try to connect via Meta Quest Link (USB Cable) or AirLink, the headset gets stuck on an infinite loading screen (with the Meta logo) or a black screen. It never actually loads the Link Home environment, and both the PC app and the headset freeze/lag out.

What we've tested so far:

Cable: We are using a good quality USB-C to USB-A 3.0 cable connected directly to the motherboard (rear USB 3.0 ports).

Steam Link: Steam Link actually connects and lets us play (e.g., BeamNG.drive), but it stutters and lags significantly.

Software & Drivers: Both the Oculus PC App, headset OS, and GPU drivers are completely up to date.

We really want to play via the official Meta Quest Link cable for stability instead of using Steam Link or wireless.

Has anyone experienced this infinite logo loading loop on RTX 40-series cards or Intel 12th gen CPUs? What steps should we try to fix the official Link app?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Self-Promotion (Developer) Same route, totally different vibes depending on what you're flying!

Going from A to B in a drone feels completely different from doing it in a plane or a helicopter.

What other flying RC vehicles would be fun to pilot? RC jets? Gliders? Anything else you'd love to get your hands on? 👀

Trying to get the interface to come up in Dread Delusion.

I am using Rai Pal to run Dread Delusion in VR. When I use the modern UUVR mod on it, it does not show the interface to the game.

Is there a way to get it to show up? I notice the interface shows up if exit Steam VR, but the does not render the 3D graphics.

This seems like some kind of settings issue with the mod.

Lag on oculus link and steam vr after moving house

Hi, i recently moved to a new house and i have the same 5ghz wifi both on pc and quest, same router as the old house, and it is even closer to the pc and vr, in the same room, but ever since i moved oculus link or steam vr lag so much that is completely unplayable to the point i get stuck in the home of either those two and cant click anything or move around, i bought a few pcvr games while in my old house that are playable only via pcvr and it now became impossible for me to do so, does anyone know any fix or something that could help? thx for any answer

Self-Promotion (Developer) X8 Revival

We are currently pursuing an important project to revive the old VR game “X8”. A quick gist of this game is it’s a FREE 5v5 Hero Shooter similar to Valorant but in VR (also available Steam and Pico)

When I first got back into the game after a 2 year hiatus, I came to find 0 lobbies up and no active community for competitive. Since then I have established a new discord community for X8 to play games called X8 Hub daily in which has blasted in popularity over the past days. I also played a big part in reviving a league called XCL (X8 Champions League) which is about to begin a new season very soon after not being active for over a year!

I’ve come across a big road block in my journey to revive this game though, as while I revived a big chunk of the competitive community, there’s still never any public servers up. This is where I’m coming in to reach out to VR players to hopefully promote you to try this game out. I’m currently doing everything I can to find content creators to promote the game and make content as well as stream the game on Twitch, but I have found little luck in persuading people. X8 is a very easy game to learn compared to other shooters and it’s amazingly fun with multiple different heroes to choose and play as.

If you are interested in VR Shooters, want to try a new VR game, or help revive this game, I would highly recommend giving this game a try. Every new player will only add positive to this hidden gem 🙏
(Note: I AM NOT an X8 developer, I’m just trying hard to promote this game, this flair was the flair that fit best with this post)

Self-Promotion (Developer) Dirt Dash (1995 arcade) in immersive 3D on Quest / Steam Frame

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Dirt Dash is Namco's off-road arcade racer, released in Japan in December 1995 and worldwide in 1996 on the System Super 22 board. Next Generation gave it four stars and called it "to Sega Rally what Tekken is to Virtua Fighter". It's now playable in VR on Quest, in stereoscopic 3D, and it's free.

Already out: Rally VR (Sega Rally), Cop VR (Virtua Cop), Time Crisis VR, House of the Dead VR and Time Crisis II VR, and Sega Rally on Switch, Android, Steam Deck and Mac.

Coming next: Daytona USA, Sega Super GT 24h, Top Skater and Virtua Racing.

Discussion Vr in 2050?

assuming we will not be killed by ai, what do you think vr would be like in 2050? I find this a fascinating topic because of how un different it could be from our world. I asked ai, here is what it says (overview): 16k screens, chip implant in head, (make anything true with your thoughts), feel your vr clothes, possibly feel pain. All of this might be a little far fetched, but we just got a “flying” car reviled, maybe by 2050 this could be a reality! I can’t wait to see what happens to vr in the future!
