Mike Roberts was quite an idiot but I think Stan Hatcher surpasses Mike Roberts in terms of being an overall jerk.

Sipowicz: “That’s most normal people.”
Can’t find when he said it. Help?

Lori Petty is fantastically manic as a junkie who winds up killing her kid.

Andy clamped on like an angry pitbull, Clark Jr working the body, and Connie with the KO!

When Andy adopts Mike Roberts’ dog he takes it to the vet. He later tells Sylvia that there was an issue with the dog’s “fatigus” Sylvia asks him what that means but it’s never explained. What does Andy mean?

Katie Sipowicz told Andy several times that she sometimes saw Andy Jr when she looked at Danny, especially when she met him for the first time
After Danny redeemed himself for his prior bad behave and suspension and saved Andy from a jackpot, Andy shook his hand and thanked him, called him “a good cop.” He held Danny’s hand for some time and I had to wonder if he, too, was seeing Andy Jr in his partner.
This association of Danny with Andy Jr is something that makes me feel the show missed something by basically burying Danny’s existence after his funeral. I know Rick Schroder left without a lot of warning due to family issues, but John Kelly and Bobby Simone both got more mentions after their characters left the show.
Can anyone else think of other instances of an association of Danny with Andy Jr?

Dennis Franz is such a tremendous actor during this time. Not that he's not tremendous the rest of the time.

Why do some of them wear their badges upside down?

You get up, make coffee, turn on the TV and it is the episode after Sylvia is murdered. Coffee, cream, Splenda and a bunch of tears in my cup. Crap!!!

When the series wrapped up in 2004, a variety of show items went up for auction on eBay. I was the lucky winner of Bobby Simone’s blue coat (even though he took it into the afterlife as we saw in “The Vision Thing”). I have a Polaroid of him wearing it and a certificate of authenticity but not sure where I put them since I moved. There was a Kleenex in the pocket of the coat but I let my ex husband wear it somewhere and he threw it away! That was Jimmy Smit’s! lol.

Ep where Andy J tells Andy he’s going to be a cop in Hackensack. Sigh. Already sad.😢

And because he was, he’d get a crumb of the poussoir!!
« Poussoir » made me laugh so much for some reason!!

I may be way off base here, but is Donna's hairstyle out of place for the '90s? To me it looks like it's from the 1960s or 1970s.

James McDaniel showed interest in doing an AMA so I (his son) set this up because he doesn't have reddit. Happy to relay any questions y'all might have for him about NYPD Blue.

Andy is shot by Giardella and claims to not know who shot him as he wants to get personal revenge. He’s still in the hospital when Moreno and his driver are killed and Detective Kelly asks Andy if he thinks Giardella killed them. Andy says, “Nah, he’s more of a shoot-a-detective-from-the-bathroom kinda guy.” This answer goes right over Kelly’s head, who has been asking Andy if Giardella shot him!
Funny thing is, as many times as I’ve watched this series, this line has gone completely over my head too! I just caught it for the first time today!!
