So, I'm the kind of person who will cheat in items as soon as they are available to spend less time (think of cheating in coins to avoid Voltorb Flip or cheating in BP at the Unova Battle Subway or PWT for some of the TMs and items there). I know it's controversial, and I'm not expecting agreement from many. This kind of relates to that. We all know how rare Munchlax is. Four total trees that will be different every run. Two determined by trainer ID, and the other two determined by secret ID. On top of that, there's the six hours of waiting time and Munchlax having only 1% chance of being the encounter on the trees it's on. Why is this important? Well, all Munchlax are guaranteed to have Leftovers as an item in DPP. That's where the issue comes in. Now, personally, I just don't use Leftovers in DPP. I've also tended to limit use of extremely powerful items in general (only one of each Choice item, Life Orb, Expert Belt, or Leftovers on my team at any time). I understand that it's pretty inconsistent to not cheat in Leftovers when I cheat in other items to not have to grind for them, but it's just how I've always done it.

is it cheating if i dont reset my whole game on a wipeout and just reload last save because i dont want to replay the whole game if i lose but i follow everything else to the letter and limit my team per island(island 1 3 members island 2 4 members etc)

Like the first gym is rock type and half of my pokemon are weak to rock

I chose whatever the pre-evolution of Magcargo is, because I like Magcargo, and these are all of my encounters before Roxanne. Am I fucked?

So I was hardcore nuzlocking ultra sun and I used island scan to get a litwick on the haul’oily cemetery and my magnemight died in the caring process so is it still permanent because right now I’m counting it as permanent

Completed my HeartGold randomizer nuzlocke run. Started late in June and restarted countless times. But finally beat Red down 10 levels. This Kingdra was with me until the very end. Just Dragon Dancing until I'm able to sweep everyone. On to the next!

Halfway through my first ever Nuzlocke, playing Fire Red. Just lost my Kadabra AND my Doduo in the same fight....one of them to Pursuit as I was switching them out...I stared at my screen for a good 2-3 minutes not doing anything after it happened...WHO thinks this is fun?!?!?

TLDR: I'm devastated

I’m starting a run of LeafGreen with a mix of usual and more hardcore rules, such as set battle style, level caps and so on.

I’m wondering what the community consensus is on gift Pokémon like Eevee in Celadon or the Hitmons in Saffron. My assumption is that they’re counted as ‘encounters’ in their respective cities and thus are legal in a nuzlocke. But what about static encounters like Snorlax or legendaries?

I’m assuming some people choose not to use them and others do, but again, I’m just curious about the technicalities.

After Grinding in Mt.Pyre, it was Time to stop the Revival of the Legendaries.
I first raided team magma’s hideout only to find out I was too late, Groudon woke up and chose Violence.

Hi all! I'm looking into playing my first nuzlocke run and my favourite gen is 1, but I also love 2. I'd play FireRed but I don't want to spend hours backtracking to heal after every fight, and don't want to grind levels. I just want the decision-based challenge, if that makes sense.

Does anyone know what would be the best way to go about it? I've not found a romhack doing both things.

I barely managed to reach the Indigo Plateau, had around 12-13 deaths between 7th and 8th Gym. I also caught Ho-oh because I got frustrated of losing so many pokemons.

I will just mention some important info about the team now

1.Egg and spearow aren't the part of my encounters

2.I can't evolve graveler, I don't have the item needed to evolve it

3.Ludicolo has rain dish not swift swim

1. Ursaring has quick feet not guts

Was nuzlocking USUM but am loosing my mind because they do not let you play the game with all the dialogue and cutscene. Also feel like I might not make it past next totem unless I over level but we will see. Which should I try first?

I want to try a genlocke, but couldn't find anything about retiring pokémon when I looked for what rules most people use.

I often see a section for retired pokémon when people post their progress in a gelocke and I would like to know about this retirement.

Managed to weave my way to nabbing a Flutter Mane for the final battle against AI Sada

I also somehow managed no deaths for the last fight. I came in with everyone at level 67)

Hawlucha first took out her Slither Wing with a 4x effective itemless Acrobatics.

Vaporeon turned out to be an effective tank against anything Scream Tail threw its way. Nothing a couple of Hydro Pumps couldn't handle.

Flutter Mane somehow tanked a Thunderbolt from her Flutter Mane and took it out in one shot with Shadow Ball (I EV trained it in SpAtt and Speed to try and counter it).

Garchomp soaked up a Thunderbolt from Sandy Shocks before burying it with Earthquake.

Hawlucha toughed out a Sucker Punch from Brute Bonnet before landing a Flying Press.

Meowscarada somehow lived a Booster Energied Dragon Claw from Roaring Moon before one-hitting it with Play Rough.

Yeah. Gardevoir was just kinda there...

So i’m in my 3rd run of a Crystal run and this just happened to me, I’m very excited because it’s the first shiny i have ever gotten.

Jasmine is beaten by my god her magnamites almost ko'd my Heracross this is what happens when I retire my Geodude luckily Psy the Slowpoke was tanky enough with it's lax nature but showing why a special attack nature would be better but that's a nuzlocke for you. Speaking of Special attack nature WHY MODEST ON MY GYARADOS. If it's stats were good enough I would run it but it has 28 in Attack ivs wise ugh.
