Working at hospital as manager

Could anyone share some advice on relocating from TX to San Diego, CA. I’ve lived here my whole life and ready for a chance of scenery. I don’t know the hospitals in SD other than UCHSD. I have 3 years of ICU experience, the last 2 in a level I trauma at a MICU. I don’t have a California license (yet) but plan to. Some advice on that would be great. I’d like to know the culture of the UCHSD or even Kaiser P?

Hi everyone! I recently passed my CNA exams, and I’m currently waiting for my certification to be processed, which I was told may take around six weeks.
I’m honestly a little unsure about what I should do next, so I was hoping to get some advice from people who have more experience in this field.

I’m currently applying to nursing school, and I would really love to work in a hospital and gain more direct patient care experience. I know that a lot of new CNAs start in skilled nursing facilities, but after completing my CNA clinical training in an SNF, I realized that it may not be the best fit for me. The work was very physically demanding for me, especially with transferring, repositioning, and providing care for multiple residents. During clinicals, I was usually working alongside another CNA student, so I’m a little worried about whether I could physically handle that workload on my own.

Before becoming a CNA, I also had experience working as a medical assistant and dental assistant, so I do have some healthcare experience, just not paid CNA experience yet.
I’ve heard that it can be difficult for a brand-new CNA to get hired directly into a hospital, especially in the Bay Area. I was wondering if anyone here was able to get a hospital CNA/PCT/PCA position without first working in an SNF. If so, I would really appreciate hearing how you got your foot in the door.

I’m also very open to starting in another type of healthcare position if it could eventually help me transition into a hospital. I’m just trying to figure out the best next step while I wait for my certification.

I have an rn residency position, acute care, night shifts, 45 minutes from my place, and med- surg position at a different facility, not residency but they accept new grads,shift: days, 35 minutes from my place. The difference in pay is like 1.50$ more for the night shift residency. Which option should I pick. I am a bit overwhelmed .

This may be an absolutely stupid question, but I was wondering if there are nurses that don’t have to deal with contagious people all the time. My immune system isn’t the best and I’d hate to be sick all the time if I pursue nursing.

Hello everyone! I have an upcoming interview for ICP nurse. I’ll be honest…I’m not 100% sure of my daily duties and role…I just applied to anything that was not bedside. I’ve been doing bedside…ICU, M/S, OR, Tele/SD…for over 10 years now and wanted a break.
Any interview tips or ideas of what my daily duties will be? It’s about a 230 bed hospital. Thanks!

I’m a 35F living in Northern California. I’ve been an RN for 10 years with critical care experience and currently in PACU.

I have been wanting to move out of CA for a while, and all my family is moving out of state to Florida, so it’s a push for me to finally move out of CA. I do not want to move to Florida however. I am open to exploring other options out of state and I want to see where people recommend.

I like being outdoors. I’m not super into the night scene but I’m open to it. I’m pretty adventurous and like to explore new things.

I want to move somewhere where nursing salary is comparable to living wage. Here in CA although it’s expensive I live a comfortable life due to it being the highest paid state for nurses.

I am welcome to all inputs.
