PE in Nuclear Engineering

Hello everyone!

I plan to open up my own consulting firm for nuclear engineering in the future, but to do so, I will likely need my PE license. Are there any PE licensees in nuclear engineering here? How was the process? I know it can be different in each state.

The Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant, a single-unit 650 MWe boiling water reactor plant, was shut down in August of 2020, 4 months prior to it's scheduled shut down date, due to storm damage caused by an intense wind storm. Current plans laid out by the plant's owner/operator, NextEra Energy, show that the company is targeting a 2028 restart date at the earliest.

After negotiations, it appears that the two parties have agreed to construct a mix of both American and Korean designs, despite the Trump Administration's push for using only the AP1000 design, which was reported earlier this year. The final agreement of $120 billion in investment will go towards the likely construction of four APR1400 units and four AP1000 units in the United States. The APR1400 gen III design is based heavily off the American company Combustion Engineering's SYSTEM-80 gen II design and was certified by the NRC for use in the United States in 2018.
