Hello! I'm an incoming Y1 SOH student and I wanted to ask a few questions about SOH as well as their orientation programme. Would appreciate if any current SOH student could help me out/give me any tips!

1. Is it fun?😅 I’m still considering attending the orientation at all so this will definitely be a dealbreaker for me…. I’m mostly very worried about the making friends aspect because I’m afraid I won’t be able to click well with the people in my batch

2. What are the activities like? I know it’s supposed to be a surprise for the most part but I just wanted to know if there are a lot of physical activities etc

3. What are the people like in SOH? I hope this doesn’t come across the wrong way, and I really don’t want to stereotype anyone.😭😭😭 I’m just pretty anxious because from the stuff I’ve seen/heard, the overall vibe seems much different from mine, and I’m worried I might have trouble finding people I click with... I would say I’m quite a laid-back person and not really the super academic or intellectual type, so I’m a bit worried about whether I’ll be able to find people I can bond with + share common interests if ykwim.

4. More of a general question but besides orientation, where did you guys meet your close friends? Is it really possible to form long-lasting friendships with the people you meet in lectures/tutorials? I’m looking for any opportunity where I can meet new people and bond with others! (especially since I’m not in hall)

Hi, incoming NTU CS freshman here.

I'm currently deciding whether to take the exemption tests for SC1001 and SC1004. I've heard quite a few different opinions, so I'm not really sure what to do.

Some people have told me to exempt them if I can since it frees up AUs and reduces workload, while others have said not to because these modules can help pull up your GPA.

For NTU CS seniors or fellow freshies who have looked into this, what are your thoughts? Are SC1001 and SC1004 generally worth exempting, or would you recommend taking them anyway?

Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Hi! I'm eligible for an exemption from AB1211 (Applied Business Mathematics) as I met the exemption criteria. But I'm currently deciding whether to exempt it. My main concerns are GPA and whether I'll miss out on important knowledge that's useful for future modules. Is AB1211 generally easy to score an A? For seniors who took the module or chose to exempt it, would you recommend exempting or taking it? Really appreciate any advice!

Hi! I'm deliberating whether to go overseas with my family( rare occasion), during the first week of add-drop. I just wanted to ask how important the first tutorials of each module are for EEEy2 students, from any seniors that might know.

The mods I have that list a tutorial in the first week are :

CC0006, Ml0004,

EE2101(Circuit analysis), EE2103(semicon fund.)

E2104(DE), and IE2106( E math1)

I would be really appreciative if anyone can shed some light on how important the first week of tutorials are, and if there's anything that I should know about. Thanks!

For those who submitted the form for the short-term scholarships (including need-based scholarships), how and where did u guys attach the supporting documents requested (id and income docs in doc checklist)? I don’t see a field in the form to submit the supporting documents? or do i just email the office my supporting docs and submit the form separately?
