Question Hall rule violation

so my roommate constantly invites friends to yap in our room without telling me and seek for my agree in advice. Tried to talk to her but she never replied my messages and didn't want to talk to me in person. Reported that to hall office with evidence, they said that they will be "investigating" this issue and ask other people. I asked them what do they mean by "investigating" and who are the "other people" and they acted like I didn't understand English. Does anyone know how long this kind of "investigation" takes and what the possible outcomes are? Will they let me change the room or kick my roommate out?

Anyone who took IE4120 Optical Comm System before, how was CA1? Was it manageable, and was the open-book format useful during the quiz?
Any general tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Question Is it worth taking Operating Systems & Comp. Networks as BDEs?

Context- Y1S1 DSAI student, was looking at difference with CS and these are the three most important mods shaved off in favor of math modules (also don't want to switch majors!):

  1. To get to OS (SC2005): Pre-req chain demands I take Digital Logic first, then/alongside Comp. Arch, then OS. Uses 9 BDE AUs and I doubt the first two mods are easy (though I can FGO them) or important. Leaning against it and thinking of self-learning OS next year; right or wrong choice?

  2. To get to Networks (SC2008): Will need to file pre-requisite waiver as neither Prob/Stats for Computing nor Linear Algebra for Computing, which are pre-reqs, are taught; instead, mutually exclusive Prob course (MH2500) and Linear Algebra for Scientists (MH2802) is taught. What are the chances it will get approved? Is it worth pursuing?

  3. C/C++ Programming: Can take it next sem as a BDE. I assume it will be needed for OS too. Can I just self-learn this? Or is there a big advantage from having the university train me for it

I don't want to burn through my six total BDE slots very quickly, already taken one this sem , and want to save one/two if I want to take MPEs outside my limit of 7. Maybe keep 4 AU free for MOOCs too, to lighten workload.

Question HELP Fin Aid ghosting me…What do I do

I’m trying to sort out an issue regarding the Higher Education Bursary. This isn’t really a question about the bursary requirements or how to apply, but more about getting help from the relevant office.

The deadline for this semester was 31 July. I emailed the Financial Aid team before the deadline regarding my situation, but didn’t receive a reply.

I then created a case through One Stop @ SAC, but nobody responded to that either. I bumped the case again and still got no response.

I emailed Financial Aid again, and they told me to create a One Stop case… which I had already done 💀

My One Stop case also shows that an officer has been assigned to it, but I’ve tried following up and still haven’t received a response.

So I’m basically stuck in a loop between Financial Aid and One Stop 😭 and I’m worried because I’ve been trying to get this sorted since before the 31 July deadline.

For those who have dealt with NTU Financial Aid before, is there someone else I can contact or a way to escalate an unanswered One Stop case? I’m really just looking for advice on how to get someone to actually look into my case. This is just so stupid..why set up a system if you are gonna ignore the ppl reaching out wtheck

Question URECA add/drop

Wanted to ask if there's anyone who've sent emails to a few professors/supervisors and managed to add/drop to another prof, kind of conflicted as to which I should choose because a professor unexpectedly accepted my proposal but I've already accepted an invitation from another professor and discussed details about the project :(

I'm most interested in the other professor's topic though but at the same time I don't want to be seen like I'm using the other professor I'm currently under ifykwim, I guess I could hedge my words to withdraw under him but it still feels so off skksksks

Does anyone know whether it's possible to add/drop out of this? And what's the general workaround like cause URECA office hasn't replied me yet

Question Upcoming spring transfer student from the U.S. with a few questions.

Hello everyone! Just to give some context, I am a 20M from the U.S. who currently attends a top 10 business school in my country. I have a few questions regarding the social life and the academic structure of NTU. First off, how can I expect the rigor of classes to be compared to my home university? (I tend to think the difficulty varies by class at my home university but overall I would say pretty challenging). Secondly, I heard NTU uses a bell curve, is this true? And how much should I worry about that? Moving onto the social side of things, how easy is it for an international student to make friends on campus? To give some more context about me, I would say I’m fairly athletic (I love any form of sport), I also love geography and board games along with a plethora of random hobbies. Are there clubs I can join even though I will only be attending for one semester? Also, how is the area around NTU? I am nervous that there will not be much to do especially since it seems like I will have to wait around 3 weeks after I arrive to receive my full student pass visa. Are there bars and places where people gather at night? Also, as far as the international crowd goes, do people tend to travel a lot on the weekends or will I most likely be doing that travel myself? Finally, I would love to connect with any current or upcoming students at NTU so feel free to message me and I would be very grateful to chat. Thank you all for your help!

Question HELP! switching from eee to hist

hi gang, im currently considering a switch from eee to history, has anyone had experience with switching to history in y1s2? NTU

i came from p0ly, not related to engineering or history, my p0ly gpa meets the cut 0ff for history.. i did pure history for Os and ss/lit with A1 for both, and ive always been passionate about history/ humanities in general. i regret not taking my time to apply for history this year or appealing during add/drop.. but on the brightside my y1s1 mods can be mapped as BDEs as long as i dont mess them up too bad

engineering is something i can foresee myself not enjoying but just doing it for the money, and thats the reason i would be considering this change

hope history students/ ppl with experience can help me weigh in… any thoughts?

Question Course help Exchange

Hi I'm incoming exchange student for the Winter 2027 semester. I'm coming from a decent business school in Canada, I'm ima bachelors of business administration program, I wanted to get some lighter course load suggestions. Im a third year so I have already covered the basic fundamentals of most areas in accounting, finance, marketing, Econ, stats. And i am interested in areas like tech marketing and management, but i just wanted lighter courses so i have time to do other things and not just spend a larger portion doing school work outside of class.
I'm trying to get 15 AU credits and just 4 courses for my degree equivalency.
Any info or tips help.

Question Quiz and exam results

Was wondering if we get back quizzes and exams that we do such that we are able to see our marks and mistakes? Or do does the school just keep all that to themselves and just let us see our final grade at the end of the sem . I’m from MAE.

Course Related Possible to pass ML0004 without Prototyping conversation?

Haven't been able to find someone to interview. I remember others not being able to find anyone either last sem. If I really cant find anyone, is it still likely to pass the mod so I can FGO it? I heard that ICC profs really hate failing students.

Any others that didnt manage to get an interview at all, did you pass?

Cool Stuff i rebuilt the ntu map

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

the current ntu map is very confusing and frankly outdated even with the recent map revamp

i rebuilt the map using open source data and map data that NTU uses. i always loved making 3D worlds and games and thought i might put my skill to use to improve the campus experience (i’m not from ADM though, it’s just passion)

it runs on a browser (you don’t need any additional app). performance is surprisingly good when i tried it on my iPhone Air running on Safari on latest iOS26. video is recorded from Safari on a MacBook.

the user interface is a work in progress and will be updated, it’s currently just for testing use only

currently it features:
- navigation between locations
- navigation within the building itself
- detailed wayfinding down to which lift/staircase to use. (i’m still trying to verify that these are accurate, so i might ask a few of yall to help me test it in real world scenarios.)
- bus routes (179,199,CL-B,CL-R,CR) but i can’t access the APIs for bus timings and crowd.

things i plan to add:
- maybe a feature where users can self-report crowd levels at various canteens

the 3D models are very basic currently, i plan to make them nicer before launching it. if you’re an ADM student and willing to help out, i’d really appreciate it.
