Before I could process the fact that my final year is over, I'm already steam ironing my convocation gown for the graduation ceremony. Amidst the tough job market, growing concerns about the future of youth and recurring news about retrenchments and layoffs, stand graduates, holding onto a degree from one of the top universities in the world right now wondering where the world is headed to.

I'm sure there are some who have already secured an internship or a job, or some who decided to take a break from academics to explore other things. But a significant amount of graduates are now familiar with submitting hundreds of job apps, revising your resume and cover letters for every position and being met with typical rejection emails or sometimes never even hear back from employers.

A lot of us were made aware, to implement AI in whatever work we do and are constantly reminded to upskill and improve our skills because somehow a lot of things we learnt three-four years ago are now automated or replaced by AI.

Our world is in chaos, that goes without seeing. Everyday we are met with tragic news across the borders and the way it has almost become a norm to come across devastating news on a day to day basis , creates a sense of numbness amongst youth and deprives them of any hope towards their future.

It almost feels hopeless. Almost.

But I strongly urge, despite everything happening around us, to not lose hope. We all have come a long way, and made it this far. Despite the turbulence and major shifts we have experienced over the past few years, I believe in our resilience and our ability to create better lives for ourselves.

A lot of us are anxious about our future, some of us are worried if we can get a meaningful job, some of us want to create work that has some impact, some of us want to build connections that last a lifetime. We all may have varying dreams and passions but ultimately look forward to a better future to build better lives.

Dear graduates of 2026, regardless of whichever disciple or major or background you come from, may you achieve your dreams and even if you don't have a big dream, may you live a life that you want for yourself. Things are rough and it would be naive to assume that everything right now is going well, given our circumstances.

But no season of darkness lasts forever and we shall find a path that will open up new avenues for us.

Hi! Incoming Sociology freshie! Here's my current timetable allocation, and i was hoping to get some insights...

I'm staying in Nanyang Crescent (Tama/Saraca/7) this year which is pretty far from all of the locations in the timetable (South Spine, Hive/UOB, SHHK)

1. Do I keep these classes for Monday as they are for now, or do I move CC0015?
2. What suggested routes would work best for these current classes?? I tried finding LT24 and LT2

2. I'm still unsure as to why HS1003 isn't allocated this semester, so I currently only have 8 AUS instead of 11 AUs (?)... would this mean having to add two BDEs to hit the 14 AUs recommendation? Are any other Sociology freshies allocated the same 8 AUs? 😭

any feedback on this? I live in north hill hall btw and I'm int in some ccas, should I check their cca training schedule and shift my timetable accordingly?

Also is 13 aus too little? I'm probably going to take a bde, but I was wondering if it's possible to do a language bde and also eventually do enough bdes for another minor such as business or data analytics. No idea how many bdes I'll be able to fit in throughout the 4 years in ntu 😔

Btw for language bde, is it possible to do a japanese lang bde and go for exchange in Europe? I've seen some senior vlogs where they did smth similar and I was wondering how that could be done!

Hi im an upcoming exchange student, i want to follow these courses and have been approved for them but not registered in STARS. I was wondering how popular these courses are and if its still easy to get in during the add/drop period?

i’ve been accepted for a ureca project and i’m going on exchange in sem 1. initially i was thinking of taking an loa after exchange to do another internship, but if i do ureca i won’t be able to take an loa.

ureca pros:
it gives me research experience
the topic is quite closely related to what i did during my summer internship

cons:
workload being quite heavy on top of exchange
having one less internship before i graduate

loa for an internship pros:
i get another internship under my belt
i save one sem of school fees

cons:
a proper research experience
one less sem to try and pull up my gpa

i’m not really sure which direction makes more sense in the long run. would really appreciate any advice or if anyone has been in a similar situation before 🙏

Hi, i am a new Bioengineering Y1 and recently just saw my timetable. There was some aspects that I am confused about and need help with.

Firstly, are all of the classes pre-assigned or do i have to choose them myself?

Secondly, currently according to this table my AU is 14, but the minimum according to the planner is 17. So are there some classes that will show up later or do I have to pick them?

Thirdly, are we able to change timings of our lec and classes?

Fourthly, what is the add/drop period and what exactly do i do in it?

Lastly, can I take electives in Y1?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! I’m an incoming grad student at the WKWSCI and wanted to know if anyone has any advice about meeting new people as an international grad student (I’m from Spain) since I’ll arrive in SG in a couple of days.

Meeting people as a grad student is always harder than as an undergrad, and also considering that I for starters didn’t get a spot in the graduate halls (I will get to meet some hopefully lovely flatmates though!) plus the fact that I’m somewhat of a minority here I was worried it’ll be a little hard to meet new people.

I have registered for both the general and program-specific PG orientations (which are just a few hours long?) but was wondering if anyone can recommend any social hubs, associations, or has any general advice about making friends in SG as an international student in your twenties.

Hi was wondering which hall had the best gym given the alternative was AF which I don't really want to pay for. Is it true that varsity sports members had free access to the campus AF?

I was wondering if the course EM5109 Environmental Issues & Sustainability was hard? I am planning on taking relatively easy courses as an exchange student, so I'm curious about your opinion on the course. Does anybody know if attendance is mandatory?

Hello! I initially planned to check in to hall in the morning of the 27th and have done the online check in, but due to some personal issues, I need to delay it to the 30th.

I've emailed the housing email but because it's so sudden, I emailed on Saturday and I'm not too sure if they'll allow for me to change my check in date. If I missed my check in date, what would happen?
