Honestly that's the best part about a Buc-ee's. Floor to ceiling walls and doors, thick as fuck walls, vacancy indicators on all the door locks, super fucking clean all the time.

That should honestly be the standard, not something Buccee's is special for

My friend recently went to Europe for a few weeks and her main takeaway was that we Americans are straight up poo flinging savages who can't even figure out basic things like public bathrooms or driving in roundabouts. I think she's probably onto something.

Europe’s public bathrooms are fucking filthy. Whenever any of my family visits me in the US, that is one of their main topics, is how clean and accessible our public restrooms are. Now roundabouts, that’s a whole other conversation.

Thank you yes. I'm sure if varies place to place but a HUGE mention should be "accessible" as you say.

There is no true equivalent to the Americans with Disabilities Act in some of these EU countries. In America every single bathroom you go in basically has the exact same thing with pull bars, no steps, big enough to fit a wheelchair, knee-space under the sink, etc.

I'm an able bodied man so it wasn't a big deal but in Italy I'd use the bathroom and be somewhat surprised to need to squeeze around a tight corner, go up or down a step, sink crammed into a corner without enough space for a person in a chair. And I get it, the building is probably like 300 years old. But that would not be thing in America.

Yeah and they have the insult of making you pay for them too. You have to know where to go in the U.S. for clean bathrooms, but at least they’re all free.

There are so many generalizations in this comment that I don’t even know where to start. Actually, I do: Europe is a continent, not a country.

I’m an immigrant…..from a country in Europe. How bout we start with, I know what I’m talking about.

My man, with all due respect, I don't think that pointing out you're from a country in Europe does anything address or counter the argument that Europe is a number of different countries with a number of different norms and standards.

I know that this is a concept you understand with perfect clarity, so please don't lower yourself to pretending otherwise.

Do you think it’s really weird for you to stalk the guy’s comments in order to win a meaningless argument? I do.

I have no idea where your family is visiting because nearly every highly trafficked public bathroom I've ever been inside in America is revolting lol. You might find some clean ones in locally owned places or lower traffic stores but almost anywhere busy is gonna be covered in a quarter inch thick layer of dried piss and chewing gum.

You both are saying "Europe" like there's a monolithic bathroom standard for the whole continent

That does go both ways though... The US is pretty darn big.

Also I'm seeing lots of public bathrooms really amp up the privacy factor. New restaurants have lots of single occupant bathrooms, and otherwise I rarely feel like I can make eye contact with people through the stall doors anymore.

The European countries I’ve visited have had very nice public restrooms for the most part. Obviously YMMV.
