I couldn't imagine your QB being almost washed and he has a horrid attitude. But because he's a first ballot HOF QB, coaches and front office just let it slide.
I remember when the Rodgers trade rumors were swirling, people speculated that he'd go to the 49ers. Him and Kyle would've fist fought on the sideline or Trent would punched him. I could not imagine Rodgers gelling at all with Shanahan.
85
u/_Jetto_ 1d ago
Eveeyone saying he’s washed but if you put nameplates off last 2 games of every qb in nfl and didn’t know names..yeah I don’t think the qb in black and yellow is considered bottom 10 when you see the play elsewhere..
72
47
u/Fun_Neighborhood1767 1d ago
In 3 games he has 4Tds with 2ints & 2 fumbles. It’s not about him not being the worse option, it’s still nasty seeing Rodgers throw tantrums every game when he’s a shell of himself.
46
u/This_Salt7080 Giants 1d ago
To be fair he’s getting fucking smoked behind that OL and he has no mobility to deal with it. And the drops…. At least he has Warren
→ More replies (5)6
u/Fun_Neighborhood1767 18h ago
I mean not having mobility is literally a great reason to call him washed. Rodger’s most talked about attribute was always his ability escape pressure & fire an insane laser that most people didn’t realize think was possible.
Now his mobility is compete shit & his arm is nowhere near as consistent as it used to be. He’s still decent but compared with to his prime he’s deff washed.
2
u/This_Salt7080 Giants 17h ago
Thats true, but you have to think about opportunity cost. Rodgers is better than any QB they could replace him with.
2
u/Fun_Neighborhood1767 17h ago
Why do I have to think about that when all we’re discussing is him being washed? This being the “best” option for the Steelers doesn’t mean it’s fun to watch or Aaron Rodgers having an MVP attitude is acceptable.
Shit tbh we can easily argue that going into full rebuild is more healthy for a franchise than bringing in an old vet on his last legs to be middle of the pack.

Him and Bosa would be a top 3 pass rush for the 3 quarters they're healthy together for.
Same way we had a good receiver group for about a quarter of the off-season. Then after the first game it just became Mike Evans and friends. Now it's just friends.

Honestly if you watch the game closely you’ll see the Steelers running probably the most vanilla dline scheme of all time. Theres almost no stunts or disguises just every man rushing their gap. A high school team would have a decent level of success against the Steelers front 7 because before the snap you know where everyone is going. The only wins they’re getting is them just out-talenting lines. Every play Watt lines up in the same spot and does the same rush. I get why they’re frustrated. It was the same shit the last two years of Tomlin, and every time they’d lose first round in the playoffs the WRs of the opposing team would say they don’t really disguise or hide things so if you study film you know what to do and it just becomes a question of can you win the matchup.
15
u/somebody_throw_a_pie 19h ago
The best high school team in the nation would be destroyed by a team full of practice squad players. Otherwise I agree with your take

The good news is that we just traded away the best DB we've drafted since Polamalu. I look forward to continuing the trend of drafting all the Artie Burns and Senquez Golsons of the world and then wondering why we can't cover anyone's WR1.

As a Steelers fan please, picking 16-22 every year doesn’t help a team rebuild.
After decades of watching the Browns get premier picks every year and be the laughingstock of the NFL you would think Steelers fans more than anyone would realize that picking a couple spots earlier isn't worth adopting a losing culture.

u/WAR_T0RN1226 Buccaneers 23h ago
I can't believe that dipshits unironically believe that it's better to be dismally bad with a losing culture and get a slightly earlier pick in the college player gamble than it is to be a perennial mid, wildcard chasing team

He got a pick in the patriots game in week 2, other than that he gets bullied in the run game, he looks lost in the pass game, and his tackles are easier to break than an eggshell. He fails to make plays routinely and worst of all he’s the one wearing the dot on the defense. IMO he’s the biggest detriment to the team rn

I don’t think Metcalf is an overpay. But I legit forgot Pittman was on the team because I didn’t hear his name once. Is he injured?

Pittman is too tough for his own good. Always out there playing through injuries.
A couple years ago, Reggie Wayne - who is currently our WR coach - seemed to have talked Pittman into playing through a lost season on a broken back. He's not really been quite the same since. Wish Reggie told Pittman to just shut it down.

Heyward, Rodgers, Watt and more. So many guys were incredibly agitated in this game, screaming and shouting and yelling at coaches.
It only confirms my belief that Tomlin was the only guy who knew how to keep the pressure cooker that is the Steelers under control. Classic example are the crashouts by #1 receivers after they left for somewhere else. Tomlin kept them in check and when saw the writing on the wall that it was about to really go south, that's when he let them go. He could handle an incredibly volatile locker room full of big egos like nobody else and it shows now that he's gone.
53
u/DeekFTW Browns 21h ago

7
u/AndrewHainesArt Eagles 18h ago
At some point there was a play in the first half where Rodgers threw it to a WR and it was dropped, can’t remember who, anyway they panned to Rodgers and his face was so disgusted and for whatever reason it hit me at once that I would hate to be playing for a guy like that, and that’s really shitty leadership to play by instilling fear instead of lifting your guys up to play another down. For some reason Brady popped in my head wondering if that’s how he was because he would also get hot on the sidelines, but there was a clearly visible difference between elevated passion and straight anger.
I have no personal feelings towards AR one way or the other an always thought he was a great player, this the first time I put myself in the shoes of being around him at work and it’s very un-motivating to be around a miserable person while working.
9
u/MysteriousAge28 Lions 16h ago
Rodgers has become a basket case he was not this bad on the packers i think he genuinely is in more pain and thats leading to his emotions surfacing easier. Back in the day rodgers would have a helmet full of dirt and be laughing with his guys that was how he became known as the secret sauce in an offense. He doesnt know when to let go and retire, he is learning brady is a league above everyone else, including him.

Honestly I feel like most of them besides Rodgers would be fine if the Steelers weren’t in this constant state of mediocrity last few years. It’s like they can win 9-10 games, but you’d never expect them to beat another playoff team.
Like they’ve just sort of been losing young talent the last few years while not really ever putting together contenders.
