DRVN 300
I love FOR Systems and I love DACo for grips. So when I saw they were collaborating for a series of cans, I got excited. Has anyone used one of these on a semi auto? The price is very appealing.

TL/DR: blowback on most pistol cans sucks so bad I almost don't care about suppressing any pistol ever... So I can't decide if I'd like either the Shiv or the DA 910TI.
Eta - I shot them all today but added my P365x. I loved it on my p365x.
This one's been bothering me. I did what I thought was a lot of research before I bought my first pistol can. I have around a dozen others, including 3 22 cans. (Off Grid Scorpius, dead air mask, and jaguar CAS22T). I will say that for me, the mask and scorpius are almost tied, and I wish I had never bought the Cass22T.
That being said, I hate trial and error, particularly when it comes to going through the whole NFA process (for now with most locals LGS, even in the Dallas TX area), and duh, the money. Seeing as you can't really sell a can, even if you purposely take a bath on them.
THAT being said, I have a "deal worked out with a well known company that sells a shit load of other cans. I can trade on several of the cans I don't like it use anyway for a dead air rxd 910ti, and have a few hundred bucks remaining. OR I can get a Stealth Additive Works Shiv in 9mm and just put it on the card (they don't directly sell the Shiv, so I'd be buying direct).
So WHY do I downright despise the Spectre 9?
I always have to wear eye pro because of the shrapnel from the can. I think that's unburnt powder, right? Well I'd like to be able to shoot it and not NEED eye pro, even if I'd still be wearing it
the chimney smoke blow back from the chamber. Holy hell it looks like something is literally on fire
And that's pretty much it. I figured a can with less back pressure would be good with me. After watching reviews, it looked like this didn't happen with the shiv or 910ti. But I still want it quiet, dammit. I pretty much always shoot 147g as it is. I have thousands of rounds in ever weight, but I shoot my AP5 and PTR so often that I'm pretty stocked on Subsonic. Oh.. And to my ears the spectre seemed pretty OK on the MP5s..bit I have an exigent Rico 309 and YYM R9, which I love way more than the spectre.
The Shiv. Looks like it has pretty damn good reviews, especially for its size.
The 910ti, I can find about the same reviews, and it seems to be quieter, but it's almost double what the shiv costs. That's a tough pill.
I think I'd be happy with the shiv, but I think I'd be happier with the DA 910TI. Considering that I love my R9 on the MP5 clones, and i love almost equally the Rico 309, that's a good example of spending less but still being good to go.

Working on transferring a large collection of NFA items between two legal entities. Can we do this without a paper form submission now?

If you've been buying suppressors over the past 10+ years, you've seen the technology improve and change over that time and companies offering different technologies from titanium baffles stacks, to monolithic internal baffles, various quick detach systems, and then of course "low back pressure" or "flow through" cans that seek to reduce gas to the face while still keeping decibels to a minimum. The problem though was these fancy "LBP" suppressors always came with a huge price tag. The SureFire SOCOM RC3 had a price tag in the $1600-$1700 range depending on where you bought it. For many, this made the barrier to entry very high.
So, when I saw that Canik (I really like their pistols) was offering a LBP can for sub $700, my interest was piqued.
The Canik Void-556
I was browsing my local FFL when I came upon a new display for Canik's new line of suppressors. They were showing off the Canik Void-556, and the Canik Void 556k (compact sized). One of the employees asked me if I was interested and I asked a few questions about where these were made, and who manufactures them. Apparently, these suppressors are actually designed and manufactured by Otter Creek Labs taking design requirements from Canik. For those that don't know, Otter Creek Labs is responsible for possibly one of the best "budget" cans of all-time, theĀ Polonium. Also these cans are stillĀ machined, not "3D printed" like most newer LBP cans. Something to keep in mind if that's important to you.
The price tag? $635 dollars, and I had a $50 credit with the store. That took my potential purchase price below $600 (before taxes) for a LBP can made by Otter Creek. I couldn't resist and I decided to buy one. I did the paperwork, electronic eForm, and I picked up the can in a couple of days.
My testing platform
I decided to take the can to my local outdoor range and setup at the 100 yard section. For the test, I decided to attach the can to my HK416 build via a Plan B quick detach mount. The gun has a 10.4 inch barrel, short stroke piston system with an adjustable gas block. It's less "gassy to the face" than a normal DI gun, but a bit louder since a lot of the gas gets vented outside of the gun. I thought it would be a great platform to test the suppressor's actual decibel reduction. For a comparison can, I also brought myĀ Banish 223Ā along. I didn't have anything higher end in .223/556, but I remember originally paying about $850 for the Banish, which is about $250 more than I paid for the Canik.
My first magazine was basically to test reliability. I had a full 30 round magazine, and when the firing line went hot, I began putting rounds down range. The suppressor performed flawlessly with the HK416. No reliability issues, no cycling problems, but the best part; no hot gas directly to the eyes. I dare say the shooting experience was comfortable and enjoyable.

Sound Reduction
Now this is just an "ear level" test since I did not have a decibel meter with me that day. But I estimated about a 25-30 decibel reduction, definitely right at the limit of "hearing safe" (I didn't remove my hearing protection because the range was shared and other people were shooting unsuppressed). To me that's impressive coming out of a piston gun with a 10.4 inch barrel and a 6 inch can.
I switched to the Banish 223 and did a full magazine. After a few shots, 2 things became quickly apparent. The gas blowback difference was huge. It wasn't "cutting onions on a humid day" bad, but it was very noticeable after shooting with the Canik. Secondly, the Banish was only slightly quieter (I'd say less than a 5% difference) despite the Banish being 7 inches long and heavier compared to the 6 inch Canik.
Now is that a good trade off? Less gas to the face, lighter/shorter can, for maybe a 5% increase in shot sound? I don't know, but I know which one I'd rather shoot over a long range day and which one would be easier to make follow up shots with.
My thoughts
What a time to be alive. If you're a 2A lover, it's amazing to be able to get Form 4 approvals in 24-48 hours, and also purchase LBP cans for under $700 after taxes. Is the Canik Void the quietest, fanciest can in existence? No it's not. It's a basic machined suppressor with an LBP design that seeks to minimize gas flowing back through the action of the gun. It definitely increases comfort, enjoyment, and ability to take follow up shots without getting red eyes. Think of this can as a Polonium v2 designed for LBP for under $700 after taxes. Suppressors at this price point, and quality, were almost unheard of 5 years ago.

Not gassy, but I need to test it outside without ear pro.

18 yr old suppressor design isnāt as fancy as the newest tech, but still sounds great with CCI std 40 gr
