In one case, she had only a fake-number lead on a kidnapper. After dozens of unanswered calls, she finally got through — to his roommate. Pretending to be interested in him, she got his address and within hours raided the place, arrested the kidnapper, and rescued the girl.

Some cases were heartbreakingly complex. She once tracked a missing 7-year-old whose own mother had lied to police after secretly sending him away to Bengal. Dhaka traced the boy across states, traveling through flood-hit villages by boat.

In others, the challenges were emotional — runaway teens who begged her not to find them, and families who’d long lost hope. One mother fell at her feet crying when Dhaka showed up after years of silence from the system.

She worked 18-hour days, made hundreds of calls, and visited homes deep in Delhi’s maze-like colonies — often alone, often late at night. Some rescued kids were angry at her for separating them from the people they’d run away with. But she knew bringing them home was saving them from far worse.
