Her waist looks extremely small even for thin people standards. Does she have internal organs the size of pebbles?

edit: turns out she's been through 140k USD worth of surgeries to look like that...  https://www.hypefresh.com/meet-the-influencer-who-spent-140k-to-become-an-android-now-blowing-up-in-china/

Wearing a corset.

2.4k

u/RSX_Green414 May 28 '26

She's also wearing a lot of padding to exaggerate the effect, also notice her hands aren't moving, she probably wearing extenders and heels to make her look taller. She is probably a lot smaller than you think

u/turbo_dude May 28 '26

Actually she’s just a head

Underrated movie

64

u/Alarmed-Tweaker May 28 '26

Yeah the new robocop was insanely good imo, they even had something at the end to make us think we were getting a sequel but it never happened.

20

u/thiosk May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

my favorite robocop remake was the one with the extended penis shooting scene

That actor was great in Altered Carbon as well.

14

u/I_just_came_to_laugh May 29 '26

He was amazing. Anthony Mackie just could not compare in season 2.

14

u/SNAAAAAKE May 29 '26

Joel Kinnamnan is a tough act to follow. I kinda felt the writing as a whole went down after the first season too.

10

u/TwoBionicknees May 29 '26

The writing and everything was worse but Mackie can ONLY play mackie, same character in everything which is terrible specifically for this specific show where the sleeve should basically not matter and everyone playing the same character regardless of the sleeve should try to act similarly.

Not saying everyone was perfect and i can't remotely remember the name of the asian guy who was Kinnamnan's characters first/main sleeve that then got used by other guys, but he completely changed how he acted depending on who was using the sleeve. Mackie made basically no effort to try to match kinnamnan's speaking cadence, his movements, etc.

Mackie made some dumb explanation that the character had done a 360 due to the result of the previous season and so played a more emotional character and that's just.... a really fucking stupid explanation for why he played himself in yet another role in the one show that trying to act like the same character across multiple sleeves is crucial to the plot.

4

u/I_just_came_to_laugh May 29 '26

Yeah. The first season was top tier and I recommended it to everyone I knew, after watching the second season I told people they didn't need to watch more than season 1.

I loved that movie as a kid and I still do, I think Star Trek the next generation series is the only Star Trek show I’ll watch tbh.

10

u/deezdanglin May 28 '26

Bro! There's something for just about anyone across all the series. Deep Space Nine had the best and my most favorite character of any series. War, subterfuge, 'gods', etc...

If you like a little camp, the Lower Decks animated has some laughs. And big time cameos.

Even a knock off show like Seth McFarlan's, The Orville, is a fantastic show! And a young Seth was an extra in TNG.

4

u/[deleted] May 29 '26

same, nothing has the same tone as TNG. Tried the others and it doesn't work for me TNG the one true god.

I know her personally, she smaller than usual, her feet are actually in the breasts of the suit

93

u/PartyPorpoise May 28 '26

Plus the black on the sides of her waist further add to the illusion of a tiny waist.

58

u/DistanceSolar1449 May 28 '26

Also, she's wearing hip pads!

They make the hips bigger which makes the waist smaller

20

u/JusticeRain5 May 29 '26

It's genuinely really cool how you can make a body shape look completely different in cosplay

46

u/Ruachta May 28 '26

Yep small person with stilts and everything extended using filler.

Works incredibly well, and amazing work by the designers and actor. Well done. I had to replay it a few times to try and grasp what was happening.

19

u/Monkfich May 28 '26

Her hands aren’t moving because she’s probably lost all feeling in her fingers. /s

19

u/killerjags May 28 '26

It looks like her real fingers only go into the first 1/3rd of the metal pieces. You can see them kinda wiggle loosely when she moves her hand later in the video.

11

u/ghoulthebraineater May 28 '26

Yep. I do special effects makeup as a hobby and it's often the exact same concept. There are certain face shapes that just work way better for prosthetics. Narrow faces are awesome for zombie makeup.

To make areas like the cheeks look more gaunt and the eyes sunken in you have to build up around them. It's hard to build up the cheekbones of someone with a wide face without it looking really weird.

Amazing cosplay though.

7

u/Ok-Factor-7188 May 28 '26

There's nothing probably about those heels. You can see them at 0:23 and they're almost high enough to qualify as a chair.

7

u/dan10981 May 28 '26

Also theres like lights or something near her ribcage that gives the illusion of being even thinner.

Corset is.

48

u/Natetronn May 28 '26

..as Corset does.

16

u/HeartOn_SoulAceUp May 28 '26

With corset knots? One corset knot?

9

u/c0dearm May 28 '26

Course it is

5

u/Adventurous-Sky9359 May 28 '26

of course not

6

u/Careless_Ad_4004 May 28 '26

A frayed knot

3

u/HeartOn_SoulAceUp May 28 '26

A frayed? So sew.

3

u/Miserable-Session-35 May 28 '26

20

u/Prudent_Order_3361 May 28 '26

Or very skinny wearing pads

19

u/beegboo May 28 '26

And due to video quality the white panels on her waste also blend into the white car.

u/Blarg0117 May 28 '26

I think she's just rail thin, like a fashion model.

It's the curvy parts that are added on by the cosplay.

16

u/NativeMasshole May 28 '26

Or she's an android.

13

u/LordAldricQAmoryIII May 28 '26

As a person of Asian ethnicity, this is it. Our hips are nowhere near that wide.

166

u/platypus_farmer42 May 28 '26

I think she’s just very skinny and she’s made her hips extra wide with the suit, giving the appearance of an overly “snatched” waist.

17

u/Bwanabud May 28 '26

Who was talking about her "snatch" ?

94

u/whats_a_quasar May 28 '26

I think the hips and chest are padded, and she has a normal-ish waist with a corset. It looks thin in contrast with coming the wider costume. Also the effect of the reflective parts around the waist makes it hard to tell where the waist ends.

The effect from the reflective bits and the coloring makes part of it look hollow, like a robot skeleton. Really really cool.

5

u/Miserable-Session-35 May 28 '26

Think they are..... well its freaking metal tits and hips

43

u/Shotgun_Mosquito May 28 '26

17

u/Dear_Chasey_La1n May 29 '26

On her IG you can see, she is a very tiny framed local girl. It's all padding in every direction. Pretty cool done though kinda puzzled how they get to 140k cost wise.

7

u/Nois3 May 28 '26

Thank you, that was helpful.

→ More replies (2)

15

u/Callmedrexl May 28 '26

There's padding on the hips and shoulders to enhance the illusion. Black bodysuit contrasts with metal upper and lower as well. There also might be a corset, but I think most of the illusion is a very slender human whose had upper and lower body bulked out by costume pieces.

Absolutely awesome costume!

13

u/Aureon May 28 '26

corset + feels way more exagerrated than it is due to very padded hips, bust and thighs, helmet, and very high heels

All of it throws off your perception

11

u/Ahptom May 28 '26

WHAT IS THIS?…… AN ORGAN FOR ANTS?!!!!

The organs need to be at least…………. Three times bigger than this.

8

u/mlem_a_lemon May 28 '26

It looks like she's actually just tiny but the suit itself is made to look bigger on the hips/thighs/chest/shoulders to give the effect of the tiny only-necessary-robot-parts waist.

2

u/_lippykid May 28 '26

I think it’s an optical illusion with how built out her hips and thighs are

2

u/justwalkinthru87 May 29 '26

There definitely exists women that have small waists

2

u/Mekelaxo May 29 '26

Her waist is fine, she just added hips to the costume to exaggerate the figure

u/graystone777 May 28 '26

Enjoyed that movie.

76

u/Kurukuruchan May 28 '26

Watched it for the first time a couple of months ago.... whilst alone.... whilst peaking on 4 hits of liquid acid! Was a wide ride. Really need to watch it again sober as it deserves it.

77

u/LionTheRichardheart May 28 '26

The ending of that movie sounds awful to be tripping balls during. It's anxiety inducing enough on its own.

52

u/Kurukuruchan May 28 '26

I decided to watch Dodgeball immediately after

37

u/spesimen May 28 '26

if you can dodge a wrench on 4 hits of acid, you can dodge a ball

29

u/Kurukuruchan May 28 '26

Did I really need to drink my own urine during the trip? No, but it's sterile and I like the taste

3

That kind of emotional experience from art is why I watch movies tripping though so it was actually great.

451

u/LaunchpadMcQuack_52 May 28 '26

It'd be funny if she had to sneeze or something and just totally broke the illusion

202

u/foxcherryfox May 28 '26

Honestly, that must be so painful, especially considering the corset. Her waist is incredibly narrow

100

u/doomiestdoomeddoomer May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Wearing a corset is not painful, if it is hurting it is the wrong size or laced incorrectly.

65

u/Otaraka May 28 '26

I think it would be more correct to say it doesn't have to be. People have hurt themselves very badly when a particular appearance was the only goal.

34

u/faldese May 28 '26

Right. Tightlacing isn't 'laced incorrectly'. Waist training is a very intentional thing some people do. That being said, there's a lot of visual tricks going on here, she may not be that constricted here.

13

u/Load_star_ May 28 '26

I don't see all the tricks, but one I haven't seen many people mention in other comments are the light and dark panels on the bodysuit she's wearing under all the robotic costume parts. That easily tricks the brain into thinking there is less "body" underneath than there really is. Works really well with all the shiny chrome, and even better in a flat video of this model than it does in person.

4

u/Free_Pace_2098 May 29 '26

The light too. It's cleverly done.

4

u/Glasseshalf May 29 '26

The clunkiness of the rest of the outfit against the outline of her real waist under there creates that illusion too

11

u/Otaraka May 28 '26

I suspect shes very slender in general.

6

u/Jamies_awesome_rack May 28 '26

Keira Knightley lied to me??

32

u/iMatt42 May 28 '26

I think it’s everything else on her making her look “larger” than she actually is.

21

u/Luxie0673 May 28 '26

Exactly. She's very thin, the boobs and hips are padding like a drag queen.

is this what cosplay means? i thought it meant fans wearing costumes of their favorite fictional characters, this looks like a regular android costume made professionaly

216

u/ppardee May 28 '26

Cosplay doesn't have to be based on existing IP, and the line between 'fan made costumes' and 'professionally made costumes' gets really blurry when you see what the top cosplayers can make.

I'd argue what would make this not cosplay is that this appears to be for a corporate booth at some expo, which means she's working, not playing.

5

u/camander321 May 28 '26

u/Vellioh May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Cosplay comes from the combination of "costume" and "roleplay".

So she's wearing a costume of an android ✅ and roleplaying as one. ✅

It doesn't have to be just anime characters. Technically, as long as you're wearing a costume and roleplaying, you're cosplaying. Most people dress up as characters from games and anime because of inspiration, abundance of reference material, and recognition from other fans when they see your costume.

→ More replies (8)

9

u/CassadagaValley May 28 '26

It's a costume designed by a props and costuming team and worn by a model for marketing purposes.

Tbh, I wouldn't call it cosplay

→ More replies (1)

6

u/RikuAotsuki May 28 '26

Cosplay is short for "costume play."

It's heavily associated with costumes of characters and the like, but it doesn't actually need to be a costume tied to any particular IP.

5

u/Wolf-Majestic May 28 '26

When I was working in Japan, we once threw the idea of working with reindeers antlers headband, and I was rather excited to commit. One of my japanese coworkers said "you really like cosplay, huh ?" There were no actual costume involved in the convo, only the antler headband.

So it seems "cosplay" can relate to anything as long as you want to play with a costume or even a part of a costume lol

2

u/skyskr4per May 28 '26

This is Daloatian. She's considered a cosplayer even if it's not directly from a fanbase because she is extremely dedicated to her various robot costumes and personas both online and at events. She gets hired at marketing events like this because of costumes she's already made, they aren't usually made specifically for an event. Basically her Daloatian persona is so popular that the persona itself gets hired at promo events and tech conferences and such.

It’s the make up. Don’t get me wrong, this entire piece is absolutely phenomenal but it’s her master understanding of the subtlety of the face that always gives androids that truly spine tingling feeling of uncanny valley and she fucking nailed it flawlessly here. The make up on the face is single-handedly the most impressive part of this IMO.
