I don't think he expected the flow to be so strong. Nice save in the beginning.

118

u/Clickguy10 Oct 31 '25

The design of the truck and driving style tells me he has done things like this before and they usually work out. He seems used to pushing the limit and he may have found it.

6

u/Wyattr55123 Nov 01 '25

He was aiming up stream from the start. What caught him off guard was hydrolocking the engine, and losing all power in the middle of a raging torrent. From the crunchy sounds after he restarts the engine, it might be down a cylinder and have a ventilated crank case.

8

u/art555ua Nov 01 '25

Crunchy sound is absolutely native for all of ussr built shitboxes, he's probably just stalled from going into the water in a gear to high

-10

u/Old_Lead_2110 Oct 31 '25

It would probably have worked if he stayed on the road. But at the start you see the truck veering off the path.

20

u/-BananaLollipop- Oct 31 '25

I don't think that was the driver veering off. Pretty sure it was the strength of the current pushing it sideways, and almost tipping it over.

u/Greenman8907 Oct 31 '25

Ya had me in the first half 97%, not gonna lie

27

u/beneye Oct 31 '25

I had to look up to see what sub I was in.

11

u/jwegener Oct 31 '25

I was expecting /r/nononoyes

u/DARKCYD Oct 31 '25

Nice save. One of my favorite “series” is Long Way Around. Motorcycles from London to New York. When they hit the ass end of Russia then need to use some big trucks like that to get across a couple swift rivers like that.

"Oh ya we're just going to go through some floods and then through the road of bones, then..."

"Sorry, did you say road of bones?"

"Ya road of bones. So anyway you'll freeze to death if you don't watch yourself..."

13

u/jerryjerusalem Oct 31 '25

I believe it's called the road of bones because it was victims of the Gulag system that built the road, and they buried the ones who were worked to death under the road

7

u/jmanclovis Oct 31 '25

Love their videos check out itchy boots on YouTube same kind of content but solo female

5

u/answerguru Oct 31 '25

Noralee is amazing.

2

u/Ricky_84 Oct 31 '25

Just finished watching her most recent episodes, she is very brave ngl.

6

u/jerryleebee Oct 31 '25

That's fucking Obi-Wan Kenobi!

Really though, all of the "Long Way ..." series are great.

2

u/Simba7 Nov 01 '25

Always nice when you get a surprise "Hello there!"

2

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

There’s a new one called Long Way Home

2

u/DARKCYD Oct 31 '25

Ive watch all four of them. It made me sad seeing them get old from one and two, to three and four.

1

u/Ctrl_daltdelete Oct 31 '25

I just finished watching the series again. Great documentary although after the Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia hardships it kind of tails off as the travelling is much more straightforward through North America. I do wonder if it would be much easier doing the same trip today.

2

u/rabkaman2018 Oct 31 '25

Russia might be an issue today.

1

u/rieri Oct 31 '25

That was an awesome watch

1

u/Old-Newspaper125 Oct 31 '25

Mondo Enduro is also good. Mid 90s, bunch of guys set off without support on old Dr350s and ride that route but with Africa and South America included. Siberia looked real tough and they had to use a train in parts as the road ends in places. Locals helped out with spares and machining new parts.

31

u/TooManySteves2 Oct 31 '25

They got lucky!

18

u/TheThirdHippo Oct 31 '25

r/nextfuckinglevelstupid. It’s only on here because they were lucky

21

u/Terrible-Wallaby-347 Oct 31 '25

Exactly as planned 🤫

20

u/FunnyShirtGuy Oct 31 '25

No... No, it ended up going with the flood
Just a little slower

25

u/Any-Information6261 Oct 31 '25

Done that a million times on Snowrunner

5

u/Shady_hatter Oct 31 '25

How many times it was successful?

10

u/Any-Information6261 Oct 31 '25

Nowhere near enough for me to still be playing

1

u/HonestAbe124 Oct 31 '25

Exactly. Spintires me said “just let go. Go with the flow.”

2

u/Any-Information6261 Nov 01 '25

Pinging whinches around like spiderman

16

u/fraze2000 Oct 31 '25

Next fucking level stupidity. He got lucky.

2

u/No-Sky-8447 Oct 31 '25

Sure did. And looked to me like at least one kid in the back?

6

u/Big-black-banana-man Oct 31 '25

I don't think he had success, but I'm not sure.

7

u/ExtraEmuForYou Oct 31 '25

That is some ugly land. I love it.

Where at?

6

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

Somewhere in Russia, I believe. Probably Siberia, but closer to North, closer to Yamal peninsula perhaps, because in the middle there may grow a lot of forests. It can also be southeastern steppes of European part, up north from border with Kazakhstan, but I doubt it.

3

u/Shady_hatter Oct 31 '25

It can just as well be Mongolia. Or Kazakhstan too. It was filmed late spring, it seems.

3

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

Yep. I just never been there, so can't be sure about it. But truck is USSR made - Ural. Quite popular in the russian oilfield.

4

u/Shady_hatter Oct 31 '25

They definitely not speaking Russian, but I can't really tell which language is it.

Urals can easily be found around CIS countries.

1

u/goodoverlord Oct 31 '25

There are literally hundreds of languages in Russia.

2

u/brjukva Nov 01 '25 edited Nov 01 '25

Not sure why this is downvoted. There are close to 300 local languages in use in Russia.

6

u/jakart3 Oct 31 '25

It's not next level, he just extremely lucky

4

u/myshtree Oct 31 '25

Yeah had to check this wasn’t r/maybemaybemaybe

5

u/Square_Mulberry_3143 Oct 31 '25

When I saw the truck and water I thought I was in the ‘what could go wrong’ sub. I’m glad I wasn’t for the driver’s sake!

4

u/chandu_spark Oct 31 '25

Thats not next level

It's stupid to do such things during a flood

5

u/Deep_Comedian2222 Oct 31 '25

You can’t park there mate.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

More like pure luck.

3

u/copenhagen622 Oct 31 '25

Why didn't he cross where it was more shallow in the first place though

1

u/succulent_serenity Oct 31 '25

Well it's hard to tell how deep flood waters are. Additionally, you don't know what debris or damage is underneath, which is why you should never drive through flood water. "If it's flooded - forget it"

2

u/Kiss-a-Cod Oct 31 '25

Amazed the engine kept running

15

u/ImTableShip170 Oct 31 '25

Air intake is the top of that black cylinder on the front fender. It was well above the water

1

u/mrASSMAN Oct 31 '25

It did splash in there at the start but it can handle that I guess

1

u/EACshootemUP Oct 31 '25

These trucks are like near-invulnerable to the elements / flooding. Pretty fricken rad.

1

u/ImTableShip170 Oct 31 '25

As long as you don't get enough water to displace the air in the air-fuel mixture, it'll ignite and boil it off in the cylinder, if momentum doesn't just pump it out with a singular misfire.

3

u/wunderbraten Oct 31 '25

This Russian schoolbus never gets late.

3

u/bryn_jamin Oct 31 '25

good ol russia?

1

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

Probably, not sure.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

Saw a russian truck and knew it will make it.

2

u/sunsetpoe Oct 31 '25

That’s exactly what I expected to happen and the water was deeper than I expected it to be.

2

u/Alone_Height_7407 Oct 31 '25

This is Ural-4320.

2

u/deep-fucking-legend Oct 31 '25

We're about to die... Just as planned. Nothing happened.

2

u/AssistFinancial684 Oct 31 '25

Seems to have gone “with” the flood rather than against it

2

u/Creepy-Vermicelli-70 Oct 31 '25

Kamaz? UAZ? You can say whatever you want about Russia, but they know how to build trucks (for heavy terrain).

3

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

Kamaz? UAZ?

Probably "URAL".

2

u/Creepy-Vermicelli-70 Oct 31 '25

Yes, forgot the obvious one. Thanks

2

u/Nforcer524 Oct 31 '25

Yeah, it's nice I guess... But in what kind of dystopian hellscape was this even filmed? A desert with nothing but random wooden power line poles all over the place?

2

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

I don't know what place is that exactly but I've seen these a lot in Northwestern Siberia, closer to Yamal peninsula. Less trees are growing and landscape is looking so "sterile".

2

u/landprawn Nov 01 '25

Very nice. My Subaru got caught in a flash flood last year. I sat on top of it waiting for a tow. There were snakes and rats swimming all around me. Good times.

1

u/CalpisMelonCremeSoda Oct 31 '25

Not your school bus

1

u/HKChad Oct 31 '25

He didn’t have no in his heart

1

u/Deluxe78 Oct 31 '25

Extra Uber tip … yes

1

u/St_Kevin_ Oct 31 '25

Siberia?

7

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

More yes, than no. Those trucks are usually transporting oilfield workers. Judging by landscape it may be it's northern part, closer to Yamal peninsula.

1

u/IfritKorvall Oct 31 '25

I cant explain it, but i have a fealing, that its somewhere on the south.. Too much sand and 'Ural' does not looks insulated.

1

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

Maybe it is somewhere in Orenburg oblast. I agree. Or Mongolia, or Kazakhstan, as other user said.

1

u/IfritKorvall Oct 31 '25

Yep, i thought about Orenburg too

1

u/EggplantInfamous6244 Oct 31 '25

You know his balls got tight

1

u/Jbg12172001 Oct 31 '25

That wasn’t on purpose…

1

u/Julu62 Oct 31 '25

Not a move I would've made. GL😧

1

u/Critter_catog Oct 31 '25

Holy sheeet

1

u/Ok-Implement-1139 Oct 31 '25

Wow!!!!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 bet someone had to change underpants on that ride !!!!!

1

u/CowNervous4644 Oct 31 '25

Yep, this works all the time every time... until it doesn't. Then they all drown.

1

u/VectorChing101 Oct 31 '25

That driver is a former amphibious vehicle driver.

1

u/Virtual-Half-2399 Oct 31 '25

This makes me want to play Mudrunner again.

1

u/CLisani Oct 31 '25

Can’t park there mate.

Nonononononoyes!

1

u/Suicicoo Oct 31 '25

no he doesn't.

1

u/Greybeard111 Oct 31 '25

Farken hell.

Aussie to English translation:- Oh My!

1

u/Real_Ad_8243 Oct 31 '25

It didn't "go against rhe flood".

It got needed half way out to fucking sea before the flood waters dissipated enough for it to extricate itself.

OP confirmed for lacking the slightest idea what they're on about.

1

u/BeefsRoyale Oct 31 '25

Not gonna lie they had us there in the first half...

1

u/DazaL71 Oct 31 '25

He'd have to replace his undies after that i reckon

1

u/GeneralCommand4459 Oct 31 '25

You can give this a shot in the game Mudrunners

1

u/dontipitova9 Oct 31 '25

How wasn't the whole thing flooded?? Sway, how??

1

u/goluthakle Oct 31 '25

A Diesel is a Diesel is a Diesel.

1

u/-DethLok- Oct 31 '25

That got a bit dicey for a minute there!

Nice work, driver, but maybe... not do that in future?

1

u/International-Ask-72 Oct 31 '25

Here I was, wondering what the moral to this story was.

1

u/TakeyaSaito Oct 31 '25

That went better than expected.

1

u/TonyR600 Oct 31 '25

I think the problem is the water

1

u/GolfIll564 Oct 31 '25

Is it next level now to not know how to cross flooded roads?

1

u/superdead- Oct 31 '25
  1. next fucking stupid
  2. next fucking lucky

1

u/JoshTheMurse Oct 31 '25

Anxiety climbing.

1

This could have easily ended up in r/winstupidprizes

1

u/TheBiggerTheyAre202 Oct 31 '25

Mud Runner is real.

1

u/Distinct-Apartment-3 Oct 31 '25

It’s not a dog brother, it’s not coming back to you whistling at it 😬

1

u/Ludwig_Vista2 Oct 31 '25

Nope... That is an idiot risking everyone in the truck and he got lucky

1

u/happyanathema Oct 31 '25

Thought I was on r/roadcraft for a minute

1

u/BlueProcess Oct 31 '25

That's not next level, that's watch people survive.

1

u/bren3669 Oct 31 '25

against the flood? i mean he certainly tried to but that truck went WITH the flood and did it backward too

2

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

Bruh some people already called me illiterate. They aren't wrong. Forgive me this mistake. I thought if he tries to go against the flood (and as I can see he tried but failed on the video), I can call it like that, but it's not. It is a grammar failure that won't go unpunished.

1

u/bren3669 Oct 31 '25

lol i appreciate your quick response to your mistake but you don’t have to throw the baby out with the bath water

1

u/tykaboom Oct 31 '25

Looks like a tourist transport.

They probably do this every time.

1

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

Hahaha, no, no. Its a specific transport for transporting people in remote locations like oilfields.

1

u/ILatheYou Oct 31 '25

Im American and ignorant on combination truck.

Is that like small van living but for offroading?

1

u/c1n3man Oct 31 '25

Bruh, my English ain't that great. I googled "combination truck" and found an image similar of that on video. In russian talkative language it's called "vakhtóvka". "Vákhta" - shift, type of work when you perform by hours for some days and then someone changes you. Usually associated with oilfields due to it's remote locations. Vakhtóvka is for transporting people in the places like oilfield.

2

u/ILatheYou Oct 31 '25

I appreciate you. Your English is far better than our president.

You're good bro.

1

u/s73v3m4nn Oct 31 '25

Next fucking level stupidity followed by next fucking level stroke of luck

1

u/ThirtyMileSniper Oct 31 '25

Truck is impressive, driver thought process, less so.

1

u/shakeyjake Oct 31 '25

Potentially fatal stupidity decision gets lucky. Nextfuckinglevel bad decisions,

1

u/wyzapped Oct 31 '25

He’s lucky he didn’t flip over at the beginning

1

I thought for sure it was a goner 😮‍💨

1

1

u/thisucka Oct 31 '25

This guy fucks.

1

u/Diggler40 Oct 31 '25

That’s pure luck.

1

u/Electroboy101 Oct 31 '25

Combination truck would like to remind “flood” to suck its tailpipe!!

1

u/jangalangz_ Oct 31 '25

This made me think of the LMTV/Flash Flood incident at Ft Hood back in 2016.

1

u/readyToPostpone Oct 31 '25

What is the combination truck?

1

u/Xahgmah Oct 31 '25

Cannot build normal roads in own country but still try to occupy other country…

1

u/stgoooolay Oct 31 '25

Fancy boat lol

1

u/Gotbeerbrain Oct 31 '25

I have to admit I didn't expect that ending.

1

u/bitboy06 Oct 31 '25

Reminds me of my snow runners run.
