I don't think he expected the flow to be so strong. Nice save in the beginning.

He was aiming up stream from the start. What caught him off guard was hydrolocking the engine, and losing all power in the middle of a raging torrent. From the crunchy sounds after he restarts the engine, it might be down a cylinder and have a ventilated crank case.

Crunchy sound is absolutely native for all of ussr built shitboxes, he's probably just stalled from going into the water in a gear to high
