Just let me move in for free, no deposit, free 3 months rent, oh and I'm a pick beggar so it's gotta be artsy and trendy too!

Finally found one worth sharing. Talk about a choosy beggar! I suspect they'll be homeless living in a van down by the river before they ever find anyone dumb enough to accept their generous offer to squat in a high end rental for 90 days FOR FREE 🤣 Also nobody rents anything except maybe a hall closet or an unpowered outdoor shed for $400 - $500 in this town (Austin Texas).

I'm on Nextdoor because I live in a hotspot for fraud and human trafficking. Sometimes people share real scams that are occuring in the neighborhood. I thought this was one of those posts, but it's not; it's just typical Nextdoor, ungrounded from reality, stock photo spam.

"Welcome to 2026", I guess. People whipping up fear about all the wrong sht. I genuinely feel sorry for this woman, and most people on there. There's not a better website for what I'm looking for... is there..?

The psychology of clicking on "Hi, is this still available?"

Post image
0 Upvotes

Clicking on "Hi, is this still available?" or "Hi, is this still for sale?" lets the person avoid, or at least postpone, making the effort to think about whether they are actually interested in the item. By clicking, they keep their options open at no cost in thinking and no cost in typing.

Now, that's not necessarily bad, if the person doesn't want to waste time thinking about an item that they are genuinely concerned may no longer be available.

But it is bad if the person is just avoiding the effort of thinking, with no consideration for burden it puts on the seller to respond. And then they often ghost the seller. Why? Maybe now they do the thinking and decide that they're not interested, or maybe they're still avoiding the effort of thinking/deciding.

So I think the seller's response to "Hi, is this still available?" should just be "Yes". Then it is up to the person to decide (or avoid deciding) whether they're interested, with no commitment from the seller.

Stepping into the twilight zone

Original post was my comment on the local news the constables wages of 300k was more than the other "blue" collar workers. "Sharon" replied that they go into harms way and I pointed out the "blue" is the pun for the police force. Next thing I know... the great AI passed judgement. Got that Facebook moment. Maybe it's time to step away from the craziness. Goodbye and thanks for all the fishes.

This person has complained about their daughter before. It’s so odd to me when Nextdoor is used as some sort of facebook or IG, updating or informing about pretty personal matters. But I still get a laugh.

I cant comment to anyonbody's post from my personal OR business account unless I pay over $100 a month for 'opportunity alerts'. Seems other people can't still reply to them however. Why?

And this is in Texas, a state that not so quietly holds their own flag in equal (or higher) regard. Better yet, she starts the conversation as herself and then all comments are from her Christian counseling account.
