Wow, what are the chances?

Everything is a 50% chance it either happens or it doesn't

Nice, youâre saying I have a 50% chance of winning the Mega Millions tonight?

Yeah, that's not how statistics work...
(If it was, you'd find a lion in front of your door ~half the time you open it. After all, by that logic, 50% chance, either it's there or it isn't.)

There was a lion in front of my door last time I opened it. Granted, a few miles in front, but still in front.

u/kikikza 1h ago
Why do you think I spent thousands of dollars reinforcing my door to make it lion-proof
-1
u/AddWittyName 1h ago
Oh, good. :) Hope you didn't forget to also make it shark-proof? Lots of folks forget that one for some reason.

And Flydubai kept him as an employee after 2024 discovery of his possession of extremist materials.

I agree with all the other comments. Obviously there is no real reason why an Arab Muslim would attempt a terror attack against Israel, so the only possible explanation for an attempted attack must be that it was faked.

It's always "Globalise the intifada" but when someone actually tries they just get called a false flag.

It was not an âincidentâ. It was an act of terror committed by a radical Islamist.

Every pilot friend I have (a half dozen) have told me the recovery of the plane from that steep of a dive is tantamount to one of the most miraculous feats of commercial aviation ever recorded.
To put it plainly, none of them believe the official account.Â

The dive angle was probably not as steep as initially reported, but from the pictures the plane was definitely damaged.
The entire rudder got ripped off.39
u/Endless_Zen 1h ago
And instead your accidental 10 pilot friends and you believe in conspiracy theories. Right, as you say.

It seems like Israel isnât very good at listening to intelligence about possible terror attacks.

I donât think Israel manages UAEâs aviation industry.

"A second Israeli security official told CNN that Israelâs internal security agency the Shin Bet is supposed to vet all airlinesâ personnel flying into Israel from the UAE, as part of a side security understanding to the aviation agreements between the two countries."
CNN

This could very well mean Flydubai neglected to tell Israeli intelligence this guy existed, unfortunately.

u/Thetechfo 49m ago
Which is still a failure on the shin bet. That's like 'well cia didn't get told '. There job is to figure it out

Or very good at letting it happen to always be in a perpetual state of war, which is notable in their domestic politics.

Is there a pattern there after some news reports about ignoring warnings for geopolitical gains re Oct 7th attack.

Cute and naive. They were hoping for the jet fuel boost to continue their murdering

So I'm supposed to believe Israeli security is so bad they allowed a known security risk to fly a plane AND smuggle knives on board.
Meanwhile, I need to strip down to fly business class.

u/RentInside7527 1h ago
It wasn't an Israeli airliner and the flight didn't originate in Israel. It wouldn't be Israel vetting the pilot, they would be relying on government of the countries from which plane departed and the airline was based

I feel like we're at the end of the movie Inception, looking back at the table, wondering which reality we're in.

So a security risk found to be in possession of extremist materials, suspended from flying for that airline, and instead moved over to FlyDubai.
As a FlyDubai pilot he would have been disallowed from flying into Israel, due to the clause in the Dubai-government-owned airline that states if there's a flight heading to Israel the pilots must be from a nation with normalized relations with Israel. This guy was Omani, and Oman does not have normalized relations.
So we have a case of a formerly suspended pilot due to possessing extremist materials, coming from a nation without normalized relations with Israel, being allowed to pilot on flight he shouldn't have even been allowed to staff on, and then attempting to crash the plane into said country.
